Verite UV multi cushion LX Review

Back during the holiday season, Verite released a gorgeous collection collaborating with Alice and wonderland.  I really wanted one for myself but I couldn’t get myself to buy it since it was on the pricey side (40,000 won).  However when they came out with a second design for the holidays, it was calling my name and my knees became weak.  I was weak okay!  I was weak with the gorgeous design and I fell for it.  Right when I was about to pay for it on ebay ($45), I stumbled upon another ebay posting for $25 with $2.50 shipping.  I could not believe my eyes so I clicked on it.  Sure enough, it was the exact same product and shade I was looking for with the same design and with one refill.  Happily, I got rid of the first one and paid for the cheaper one and waited like a patient little girl for it to arrive.  Yes.. it is more gorgeous in person!  I was hearing this BB cushion gave a medium to high coverage, not something I usually look for but it would be nice for me to be able to recommend to you guys a higher coverage BB cushion.  Anyways, let’s get into the review! (๑˃̵ᴗ˂̵)و

A little bit about Verite, they are a mid-high end brand under the mother brand of Amore pacific. “Vérité” means truth in French.  Amore Pacific’s direction with this brand was to create products that are natural but effective.  Straight forward and to the point, not much to it.

Shades available:
#21 which on the website looks like it has more of a pinky beige undertone.  This is the shade I got and it has no problem blending into my NC25 skintone.  There is also shade #23 which looks weird LOL.  It looks like a muddy yellow undertone zombie color.  I hope it isn’t like that in real life…

Product packaging:
Okay, can we just take the time to admire the gorgeous box!  Like WOW.  GORGEOUS HUNNNYYYY~

Of course we can all see the packaging is gorgeous, this is why we all buy K-beauty am I right or am I right?  The regular packaging for Verite’s cushions is super boring sadly.  It is just a plain white compact with rose gold accents.  This limited edition packaging collaborating with Alice and Wonderland is definitely a smart move, I mean they even got me to notice them!  This one I have here is the second part of the collection, hence the dark forest green background with the holiday-esque accents.  I like the second one better then the first one to be honest.

Like any standard BB cushion, this one comes with a push button clasp where you just press the button to release the lid and snap it shut when you want to close it.

The whole compact is covered with rose gold, except for the actual refill itself.  Inside it comes with a limited edition air puff with subtle Alice and wonderland designs on it.

Inside is also a nice sized mirror for on the go!

Color/ Pigmentation:
After researching online on Korean beauty blogs, I decided to just get shade #21.  Usually shade 21 in Korean beauty standards is a pink undertone shade while shade #23 is a yellow undertone shade.  I like to stick to #23 for a natural, blended, non-vampire look but for this BB cushion, it looked like shade #21 would be my color.  To my surprise when I got it, shade #21 is more on the neutral shade, leaning towards yellow.

My skin type profile:
-lives in an area with Oceanic climate (West coasts; cool & chilly winters, warm summer)
-very dry during fall and winter; dry during spring, normal in summer

Skin concerns:
-hydration for my dry skin
-flakey dead dry skin
-dark under eye circles from lack of sleep
-slight redness around cheek, nose and chin

Things I look for in my base make up:
-hydrating
-dewy finish preferred
-evens out redness around nose, cheek and chin
-does not cling onto dry patches

Okay, now that you have inspected my face enough, let’s start with the application.

Take your air puff and slide it onto your fingers.  I like to spritz a little bit of water onto my air puff so the puff itself won’t soak up too much of the product and also it will provide me with extra moisture.  This step is optional of course.

Try not to get too much onto the air puff.  Work in layers to not get cake face!

Pat pat pat away!  Please no swiping or tugging motions.

Left side is down, right side is before.  You can see with just one layer, my redness went down significantly and it evened out my skintone very well.  I personally didn’t use it on my under eye circles since I found the formula already super drying, I don’t need my fine lines to be more accentuated.

After… The only weird thing I have to say is that when I applied it around my nose, the formula didn’t adhere to the cracks at all even though I flatten it out and everything with my fingers.

Closer look.  Looking closely, you can already see that the formula doesn’t adhere to the skin nicely at all.  In fact, it looks like it is just sitting right on top of it while clinging to every little dry patch of skin.  This is a nightmare for me since I have dry skin, it’s basically adhereing super odd all over my face.  Great….ಠ╭╮ಠ

So.. dry, looking.  Blah.

My pet peeve is when foundation or BB cream clings onto my nose.  My nose is the one thing that sticks out, so any dryness sticks out like a sore thumb.  I HATE THIS UGH!

Both sides of my face is done now.  I’m smiling now, but behind that smile, I don’t like this cushion at all. (Θ︹Θ)ს

I applied the rest of my make up, eyeshadow, mascara, contour, blush and lipstick.  Oh and yes, I did use Pony Effect’s new essentials line of products on my brow. ⁽(◍˃̵͈̑ᴗ˂̵͈̑)⁽  No comment as of right now on how I like it but look forward to the review in the future! 

UGH look at my nose!  Sigh…

Pro:

-good color match for NC25

Con:

-hard to get unless you use buying service or live in Asia
-formula not friendly to dry skin people

Overall thoughts:
For me as a dry skin individual, this BB cushion’s formula is my worst nightmare.  My biggest pet peeve is for any dry skin to be accentuated on my nose and anywhere else on my face, which this BB cushion did just that.  I was also hoping this cushion would give either a satin or dewy finish but it was on the opposite side of the map, a matte finish.  I can see people with oily skin types who live in humid climates like this.  Sadly for me, this BB cushion did not work out.  Even the gorgeous compact won’t get me to use this.  Maybe I’ll test around and see if my Etude House or Iope cushion refills would be able to fit in here because I really don’t want to get rid of it!  Overall this product is decent, but only for those with oily skin types and want a higher coverage then the usual light coverage.  This isn’t a bad product, this product is just not suited for my needs.
