With the Skin 1004 centella cream being a disappointment, do they even have a moisturizer that is half decent?ย Alongside all the other Skin1004 products I picked up, this was the other “cream” I got, and thank goodness I did!ย I didn’t really know what to expect since this is advertised as an ointment.ย I’m not too sure what they were trying to create since ointment to me is like a Polysporin or a more medical type of product.ย There is also Lavender

How to use:
At the last stage of your routine, massage the ointment thinly for additional skin protection.ย Apply onto ruptured skin troubles to accelerate the calming effect.
Product packaging:
Thank goodness this ointment cream didn’t come in a tin tube. It is a simple plastic tube and twist-off cap.
This packaging works just fine but I do wish the tip was a bit bigger, especially if you want to use the ointment all over your face.ย It takes too long to dispense the product!
Texture/ Finish + effects:
Now, THIS was the texture I was hoping to get with the other Skin1004 Centella cream.ย The Madagascar Centella ointment has this beautiful balmy texture that coats your skin and leaves a nice layer of hydration to keep it protected and hydrated for much much longer.ย You can also use this layered with your moisturizer for that extra boost of hydration and calming effect.ย I can’t say for sure if there were any calming or soothing abilities with this cream since I mainly used it on my cheeks and the redness didn’t really go down much.
I’m not too sure if I found the full ingredients list or not, but I don’t see lavender in the ingredients list that I found.ย It is definitely in the cream and I’m scared it might be lavender oil? Its a widely known and hated essential oil in the skincare community, so I don’t really know why there are still companies out there including them in the ingredients.ย ย
According to Paula’s choice little beauty dictionary, the oil might have beneficial properties but because of the fragrance portion of the oil, it is a possible skin sensitizer.ย Lavender oil can also have a potentially damaging effect on the skin with even a low concentration of 0.25% and does not show up as an immediate effect but could be a potential long-term effect.
Fragrance?:
This ointment has a pretty strong scent of lavender oil, so if you don’t like that scent, do not get this ointment!ย Smell-o-scale: 7/10 in terms of how strong the scent is and it does fade after application but it does take a while for it to fade completely.

Overall thoughts:
This is definitely one of the better products out of the three products I picked up.ย It has a nice balmy texture and does do a decent job at hydrating but I’m not too sure if it really does calm my skin down.ย I wouldn’t use this as a moisturizer replacement but more of a moisturizer topper?ย I still don’t really understand why they named this an ointment since ointments are usually associated with either a prescribed cream or Polysporin (in my mind at least).ย Overall this isn’t a shabby product but still not something I would repurchase.
