It is no secret that I’m an obsessed gadget freak and with my current obsession with microcurrent devices, I’ve had many of you guys ask if I’ve tried Nuface’s trinity microcurrent device and what do I think about it compared to the Foreo Bear?ย I’ve been using Foreo’s BEAR microcurrent facial device since last year when it launched and have seen dramatic differences for not only me but my boyfriend and my mom as well.ย I am aware of Nuface devices as it has been around for a long long time, but I’ve never got around to buying it.ย If you haven’t read my full in-depth review on the Foreo BEAR and BEAR mini, make sure to check that out first to get a better idea of Foreo’s Bear before continuing on with this comparison review.
Both devices are marketed to do the same thing, but which one do you choose?ย Is Foreo BEAR stronger than Nuface trinity?ย Which one is a better value?ย What are the differences between Foreo Bear and Nuface Trinity?ย We are going to discuss all that in this post, which can hopefully narrow down your decision on which one to buy!

Foreo BEAR vs Nuface trinity overview
For fairness purposes, I chose to review Nuface’s top-of-the-line Trinity as opposed to their Nuface mini since the price would be the most comparable to Foreo’s BEAR microcurrent device.ย To my surprise, it seems like a common question is if the Foreo BEAR’s current value is higher than Nuface. However, Foreo states they are two times more powerful than Nuface trinity and delivers six times faster results as well.
What is microcurrent? What are the benefits of using microcurrent devices?
Microcurrent therapy is a beauty treatment that uses electricity to promote cell growth and โwork outโ the muscles on the face, stimulate collagen, and tighten the skinโs appearance.ย It uses low-voltage electricity to stimulate the muscle, adenosine triphosphate (ATP) cell growth, and collagen development in the dermis of the face. With long-term use, microcurrent devices are able to tighten and smooth muscles and their connective tissues, which in turn increases cellular activity and stimulates ATP products.ย Over time, the increase of ATP helps energize the facial muscles, similar to how exercising energizes the muscles in the body. With just one use, I can see a major difference between my smile line and my jawline is way more defined.ย
Please be advised, if you are an individual with implanted medical device (ex: pacemaker), heart condition, pregnant epileptic, cancer, a hemorrhagic disease, or have any skin conditions.ย Discontinue using if irritation occurs.ย Keep out of reach from children.
Here are the contents of what is inside the Nuface trinity box.ย Please note I paid extra for the Nuface trinity Elle attachment.ย If you were to get the whole kit with the Elle attachment, it $449 USD.ย If you were to just buy the device alone ($339 USD) and then the attachment separately ($159), it would have cost $498 USD.ย I personally don’t understand why the attachments are practically half the price of the actual device.ย That’s a little questionable in my opinion.ย
Contents inside:
-Nuface trinity device with original ball attachment
-Nuface Elle attachment (only if you purchase the kit with the attachment)
-stand charger
-charging cable
-two international charging heads
-Nuface gel primer
-Manuals and instructions
Inside the box, there is a small tube of their Nuface gel primer, which they insist you use for “optimal results”.ย I’ve had a lot of readers ask me what product to use alongside microcurrent devices, but I always say use any water-based serums you already have on hand.ย You just have to avoid anything with oils in it since the oils can deflect the microcurrents, which won’t give you the results you are looking for.
Nuface gel primer ingredients: Water, Propanediol, Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid, Tremella Fuciformis Sporocarp Extract, Betaine, Glycerin, Magnesium Sulfate, Carbomer, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Ethylhexylglycerin, Potassium Sorbate, Caprylyl Glycol, Phenoxyethanol, Sodium HydroxideTocopherol, Disodium Phosphate, Sodium Phosphate, Polysorbate 60.
Don’t laugh, but I couldn’t find the box for my Foreo BEAR device LOL.ย So here is the same picture from the original Foreo BEAR review :P.
Foreo BEAR contents:
-Foreo BEAR device
-Travel pouch
-USB charging cable
-device stand
-Foreo serum serum serum sample foil
-instruction guide on how to download app
-short instructions on routine
Foreo’s BEAR microcurrent device packaging is much more minimal but doesn’t really need much other than these contents.ย I like that the charging situation is pretty straight forward and pretty much all my friends who have the Foreo devices lose the cable because the battery life is so amazing LOLOL.ย I also like that the Foreo device comes with a pouch and a stand for the washroom!!ย Everything else that you need, you can find on the app including settings to the device, routines to follow, and even customer service assistant if needed.
Foreo serum serum serum ingredients:ย Aqua/Water/Eau, Glycerin, Propanediol, Cyclopentasiloxane, Diglycerin, Xylitol, Pentylene Glycol, Butylene Glycol, PEG/PPG-17/6 Copolymer, Glyceryl Polymethacrylate, Glycereth-26, PEG/PPG-14/7 Dimethyl Ether, Squalane, Hyaluronic Acid, Sodium Hyaluronate, Sodium Hyaluronate Crosspolymer, Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid, Betaine, Octyldodeceth-16, Glyceryl Glucoside, Propylene Glycol, Caprylyl Glycol, Carbomer, Triethanolamine, Acacia Senegal Gum, Gelatin, Panthenol, Xanthan Gum, Trehalose, Urea, Ethylhexylglycerin, Adenosine, 1,2-Hexanediol, Sodium PCA, Serine, Glucose, Algin, Disodium Phosphate, Glyceryl Polyacrylate, Pullulan, Hydrolyzed Glycosaminoglycans, Potassium Phosphate, Red 4 (CI 14700), Benzyl Glycol, Raspberry Ketone.
Foreo BEAR vs Nuface trinity size comparison
Foreo BEAR microcurrent device looks so small compared to the Nuface trinity haha.ย I actually brought both devices with me on my trip up north to my boyfriend’s place and was so annoyed with how bulky the Nuface trinity was.ย Foreo BEAR is definitely much more travel-friendly and can be easily slipped into any vanity bag.ย Those of you who travel a lot, I can easily see you dismissing a religious use of the Nuface device due to its sheer size.
Both conductor ball size are the same and the space between the balls are also pretty much the same.ย Foreo’s BEAR ball depth is slightly less than Nuface trinity, but they both operate pretty much the same.
Operation and button wise, Nuface’s buttons are very straightforward.ย There is an on/ off button in the middle and a plus and minus button for adjusting the strength of your microcurrent from 1 (being the mildest) to 5 (strongest).
Once the Nuface trinity is turned on, you’ll see a blue LED strip to light up and it also indicates what level of microcurrent is on.ย When the device is on and is in contact with your skin, the device beeps every 5 seconds which drives me mentally!!ย Imagine doing a 10-minute routine and it’s beeping the whole damn time UGH.ย This was something my boyfriend also noticed and commented on, so you know it isn’t just me.
Foreo has only one button which turns on the device.ย Once the device is on, you’ll see either one to five LED lights which indicate the strength of the microcurrent.ย The first setting for when you turn on the device would include a routine with the T-sonic pulsation on.ย If you don’t want the T-sonic pulsation on, you simply click the button once and it will turn off the pulsation.ย ย
The charging situation is one of the most defining factors for me when choosing between the two.ย With the Nuface trinity device, you are forced to carry the charging cradle and the charging cable, whereas Foreo’s charging situation is just a USB cable that you can plug into any USB wall charger.ย This was so surprising to me when I went on the trip and was so shocked!ย I thought I would just have to bring the charging cable but NOOOOOO.ย You HAVE to have the charging cradle, which by the way, is also very finicky and doesn’t like to sit properly -_-.ย They really need to upgrade it to a magnetic bottom or something ugh.
Now onto the different attachments/ models.ย Nuface has three different attachments you can interchange with but only if you have the Nuface trinity model.ย Each attachment costs $159 USD if bought separately.ย ย
From left to right, there is the Nuface trinity Elle attachment to target for lip and eyes, Nuface trinity wrinkle reducer which is a red light therapy attachment, and the regular Nuface trinity facial trainer.
Foreo’s BEAR doesn’t come with any attachments, only two models to choose from.ย The Foreo BEAR, a larger Fuschia one, can be used for full face and targeted areas.ย The Foreo BEAR mini, which comes in lilac or light pink, is built for targeted areas but you can still use it all over the face, it just not as time-efficient since the ball head is much much smaller.ย ย
Another thing to point out about the Nuface trinity is that the device is not waterproof.ย To clean the device, you have to take off the attachment head and clean using a damp soft, lint-free cloth and water or rubbing alcohol to clean the device.
To clean the Foreo BEAR, you can simply use soap and water and towel dry afterward with a lint-free, non-abrasive cloth/ towel.ย The whole device can be under running water as it is fully waterproof.ย You just have to make sure not to use any alcohol cleaning products with alcohol, petrol, or acetone as it can damage the medical-grade silicone.
I normally have a bottle of Foreo’s serum serum serum, but I mistakenly gave them all to my boyfriend HAHA.ย To my surprise, the Foreo serum serum serum is the only moisturizing product he likes to use because he’s lazy and it gives him enough hydration in just one step.ย So forgive me for just having the foil packet for the time being.
Nuface trinity comes with a two-ounce bottle of their gel primer but Foreo BEAR microcurrent device only comes with a foil sample.ย Foreo’s serum serum serum has a lighter texture with microcapsules of squalene, leaving the skin with a slightly oily finish which my dry skin loves.ย Nuface’s gel primer has a thick gel consistency that takes a longer time to absorb into the skin compared to other gel textures.ย Both work amazing but I prefer Foreo’s serum serum serum since I have pretty dry skin.
Finally, it is time to demonstrate the two devices!ย Here is my bare skin with toner and some essence on.ย I am inching closer and closer to the big 3-0 and can see a lot more fine lines and wrinkles I’d like to target. The lighting is blowing everything up, so you can’t really see it, however, my laugh lines have been getting more pronounced and deeper.
My undereye fine lines are relatively the same other than my sad dark under eyes.ย I do have quite a bit of spidery wrinkles right below where people get crow’s feet as well.
Yea the lighting is too bright. Trust me, in natural light, my skin looks worse and my problem areas are way more pronounced.
First up is Nuface trinity.ย The device itself is very large in the hand and the conduction head seems much further feeling.ย I also don’t enjoy the shape of the device too much.ย It isn’t as aerodynamic and I find myself bending my wrist in weird ways to try to make it work, especially when I’m giving my boyfriend the microcurrent therapy treatment.
The treatment routine is the exact same.ย I always start at the bottom of my cheeks and move upwards towards my cheekbones.ย Then I go from the tip of my chin upwards against my jawline.ย You can also do the neck but avoid your throat area since you don’t want that to close up.
If you want an at-home facelift using a microcurrent facial toning device, make sure to the top of your eyebrow and your forehead.ย Start from your eyebrow and bring the device towards the top of your forehead.ย Then from your temple, bring the device towards your hairline.ย Always move the device in an upward motion.ย If you want a guide on how to give yourself a microcurrent facial at home, make sure to check out my Foreo BEAR review where I drew everything out and did it step by step.
For targeted areas with the Nuface trinity, I changed it to the Elle attachment, which I do actually really enjoy.ย The small shape of it really gets into those laugh lines, however, I really question if it is truly all that necessary.
Here is my before (right) and after (left) using the Nuface trinity microcurrent device.ย As you can see, the difference is quite subtle since I have a very angular face.ย If you look at my cheekbones and the side of my jaw though, the left side looks much less swollen and my cheekbones are sitting much higher.ย One thing I have to note though, the Nuface doesn’t have an anti-shock system so if you don’t have enough gel on, you will feel a prickly pear sensation.
And for my familiar friend and love, the Foreo BEAR.ย With the anti-shock system and its small body, I can easily glide between my left and right side without having to angle my wrist weirdly.ย You also don’t have to use the phone app if you don’t want to.ย You can simply turn on the device and you’re pretty much good to go! Again, my thoughts on this device can be read in-depth in my previous review.
This isn’t super necessary however I had to whip out my Foreo BEAR microcurrent deviceย mini to compare with the Nuface Trinity Elle attachment for targeted laugh lines and eye wrinkles.ย The ball on the Foreo BEAR is much smaller and can get into those areas easily as well.ย Foreo BEAR mini is $50 more expensive than the Nuface Elle attachment, however, you can actually have a working device rather than just an attachment head.ย The Foreo BEAR mini is also the size of my palm and can be easily packed for traveling purposes.ย From what Iโve read, the Foreo BEAR mini is just as powerful as the full-sized Nuface trinity!ย I can feel the power in my palms with this little guy AHH (clearly Iโve been watching too much of Lokiโs new series keke).
Here is my before and after with the Foreo BEAR from my previous review.ย As you can see, the results are quite similar as well.ย My cheekbones are sitting higher and my jawline is much sharper compared to before.ย I swear I’m not pissed, I just have to make sure I don’t small to show you my muscles LOL.
You can kind of see how I have to angle my wrist more when I’m using the Nuface trinity.ย It isn’t as severe when you are giving yourself the treatment, but when you are doing it on someone else, it gets really awkward to hold.
And here are my happy wrists HAHA.ย This seriously sounds so damn bias but what can I say.ย I’m a Foreo stan :P.ย Because the device is half the size of the Nuface trinity, I have much better control, and the shape for the device is concave on both sides, making it much more comfortable for both doing treatments on myself and for other loved ones.

So in the end, is the Nuface trinity worth the money?ย Which one should you choose?ย Here are some of my personal views on the two devices:
Foreo BEAR
Pros:
-anti-shock system
-compact built
-T-sonic pulsation to help push in skincare deeper
-simple charging situation
-fully silicone= waterproof and more hygenic
Cons:
-conduction serum (aka. Foreo serum serum serum) sold separately
-no attachment options
Nuface trinity
Pros:
-interchangeable attachment option
-bigger battery for longer usage
-just as effective with the same current value of 335
-comes with a gel primer
Cons:
-bulky charging attachment and doesn’t sit securely
-device is very large and hard to travel with

I think both devices work well and do what is marketed as.ย Both devices are in the same price range as well, but it all comes down to what your lifestyle is.ย If you don’t travel that much and want options for expanding the functionality of your device, then go with the Nuface trinity.ย If you are one to travel a lot or just want something more compact with a built-in anti-shock system, has a T-sonic pulsation to help push your skincare product in and want a battery that lasts so long to the point of you losing your cable because you don’t charge the device often, then go with the Foreo BEAR.
My personal opinion on which device I’d chose would have to be the Foreo BEAR microcurrent device.ย The product as a whole is much more no fuss and easy to carry around.ย I love that the charging situation is just one cable and you can plug the USB into wall plugs you most likely already have.ย Their anti-shock system really makes a difference with not zapping you and giving you that prickly pear sensation and it also doesn’t beep every 5 seconds!!ย I want to give myself a spa treatment at home to relax me, not irritate the crap out of me with annoying noises.ย The shape of the device is much more comfortable for my weak wrists as well, so my final decision would have to be the Foreo BEAR.ย ย
Hopefully, that narrows down your options when choosing which microcurrent device to bring home.ย Both devices do the job, but it just comes down to fine details and what your lifestyle is like.

Great comparison! I’m really torn between the Foreo Bear and the Nuface Trinity. I’ve been looking into both and they both seem to have amazing results. Can you do a follow-up post comparing the two in more detail? Thanks for the help!
I unfortunately got rid of the Nuface already. That’s how much I didn’t like it compared to the Foreo Bear. They both have the same functions, but the whole portability and not being able to charge without the stand with the Nuface was just not convenient.
