Keep cool as a brand has always been one I’ve avoided because I knew it was more built towards those with normal to oily skin type.ย They recently came out with a soothe bamboo sun essence, a great lightweight sounding sunscreen to add to the collection. I do wish the dispensing hole was a little bigger since it takes a little longer than usual to squeeze it out.ย Other than that, no other compliments.
Texture/ Finish:
Keep cool’s sun essence is packed with amazing ingredients not only for my dry skin but ingredients that would work with all skin types.ย There is 40% bamboo water which is rich in essential amino acids and minerals as well as instantly hydrating and soothing the skin, 3% B-Circadin to care for broken biorhythms and give the skin radiance, Centella extra to heal, soothe and strengthen the skin’s carrier as well as 7 types of hyaluronic acid to inject the skin with more moisture!
The texture is just like the name suggests, a sunscreen with an essence texture.ย It is super lightweight and absorbs into the skin quickly and easily, leaving the skin with a hydrating feel and look.ย Sometimes I find sunscreens drying out my skin within 3 hours of wear time, but not with this Keep cool one!ย It is definitely all thanks to the combination of bamboo water, Centella, and hyaluronic acid
Once you apply the sunscreen on your face, you’ll notice a cooling sensation that isn’t like the minty type you would expect.ย This is due to Keep Cool’s “cool keeper complex” which is comprised of 3 natural antipyretic herbs (Lonicearae Flos, Scutellaria Baicalensis, and Forsythia Fruit). Forsythia Fruit helps with reducing inflammation and relieving pain, Lonicerae Flos cools and resolves toxicity and Scutellaria Baicalensis reduces inflammation while killing gram-positive bacteria.
There is no white cast with this sunscreen which is always nice!ย I am a little confused about whether this is a chemical or physical sunscreen.ย I’m reading that chemical sunscreens usually have ingredients like oxybenzone, avobenzone, octisalate, octocrylene, homosalate, or octinoxate and reading into the ingredient list, I see Diethylamino Hydroxybenzoyl Hexyl Benzoate and BisEthylhexyloxyphenol Methoxyphenyl Triazine.ย Physical sunscreens usually have ingredients like titanium dioxide, zinc oxide, or both, which leads me to believe this is a chemical sunscreen.
Although it is a chemical sunscreen, I find it to not irritate my skin at all.ย Sometimes with some sunscreens, they do make my skin itch a little throughout the day which I hate!
Fragrance?:
There is a very light Centella fragrance but there isn’t any added fragrance in the ingredients list.ย Smell-o-scale: 4/10 in terms of how strong the scent is.

Overall thoughts:
I haven’t given out holy grail stamps in a while but this sunscreen definitely deserves it.ย It is one of the better sunscreens I’ve tried by far with its long-lasting hydrating and no white cast!ย The texture is absolutely lovely and absorbs into the skin easily without leaving a film or a greasy finish.ย I absolutely enjoy the cooling sensation when applying this on my face, especially during the hot summer days.ย Overall I think this is a very well-thought-out sunscreen formula and highly recommend you guys to check it out!
