Missha M perfect blanc BB review I Spin off of Missha’s original?

If you have been an OG fan of K-beauty, you’d know Missha’s famous BB cream that pretty much put the brand on the map.  With the same tube and pump packaging, it was such an easy answer to say yes to this new BB cream.  I actually thought this BB cream was from the same glow line that I love, but looking at it now, it seems I have mistaken.  Let’s get into the review to see if this is an updated, better version of the original which had a bit of a grey cast to it.

How to use:
On either your bare skin or after using a primer, apply in an even layer on your skin and blend into the skin with a brush or a sponge.

Packaging:
I actually really love this tube and pump packaging.  You can get every bit of the product and if it doesn’t come out with the pump, you can squeeze it out too!  This is exactly the same as the original M perfect cover BB cream without the cheap lid that I always end up loosing.

The pump is really easy to control and you can get the right amount every time.

Color/ Pigmentation:
Like most of K-beauty, the color range isn’t wide and has only 4 shades.  I mean it is better then having only 2 shades right?  Luckily the BB cream doesn’t have the same grey cast as the original.  I got it in the shade #22 beige and it seems to be a pretty good match for my Mac NC25 yellow undertone skin.  I usually buy shade 23 for most Korean foundation and this one is perfect.

Okay let’s try this on and we’ll go from there.

Since it claims to have good coverage, we’ll see since I have pretty messed up skin.  I was extracting my nose so there are some red marks but it does go away.  My cheeks have also been extra sensitive lately with the whole weather change and allergy season kicking in.

I have really dry skin and usually have to go for base makeup products that are more hydrating.  How I pick is when the name says glow, hydrating, watery or anything along the lines that tell me it is hydrating.  With this BB cream, I thought it would be a hydrating one since there is propolis built into it.  I also mistook this BB cream to be one from their glow line but that is my mistake.  Oops!

Texture/ Finish & coverage:
This BB cream has a medium to buildable high coverage and did a great job at evening my skin tone with just one layer!  I did apply this with my finger at first but found it easier to blend with a sponge.

As you can see, my skin tone was even with one layer and all the redness was covered!!  Wow, this definitely is a strongly pigmented BB cream.  Even the red marks on my nose have been covered effortlessly.

The finish is a satin to an almost matte finish and is not complimentary to my sad dry skin.  The matte finish makes my dull skin look duller.  After 3 hours, my skin starts to look cakey which is not what I want.  If they made this BB cream in a dewy finish, I’m all ears!

You can also see how the roughness around my cheeks has been accentuated.  

Here is the whole face with the BB cream.  There is no dewy finish, no glow, just a straight-up satin finish.

One of my pet peeves is foundation or base make up that makes my nose look dry.  UGH noo!!!  This BB cream clung onto the dry patches and I can see every pore.

Lasting power:
Because of the dry formula, this BB cream does last all day but I start looking busted and cracking everywhere because I am so damn dry.  Those with normal, combo and oily skin type or those who like satin to matte finish would enjoy this but I am not enjoying my skin feeling like a dry butthole.

Fragrance?:
There is a light chamomile scent but it isn’t anything strong and fades away after application.  Smell-o-scale: 6/10 in terms of how strong the scent is.

Pro:
-high coverage
-brightens complexion without looking too pale

Con:
-formula and finish is too drying despite having propolis built-in
-clings onto my dry patches and accentuates it
-only 4 shades

Overall thoughts:
Although this BB cream didn’t work out for me, I can see it working for a lot of other people.  The coverage is very high with just one layer and can easily be built to a high coverage if needed.  Just like the description says, it is able to brighten the complexion but not making your face look like Casper. Overall I think this is a decent BB cream and definitely a step up from the original but the finish is not for me.
