A couple of years ago, you wouldn’t be able to find many K-beauty brands that produced vegan products.  Nowadays with consumer demand, more and more brands are offering either vegan options, if not molding their brand with veganism in mind.  Vegreen is a relatively new brand, currently with three products with another product launching soon (and I know it has cica in it hehehehe).  Out of the three products, their moisturizer is my favourite and I’m going to break down what I love about this moisturizer and why you need it too!  Let’s get into it~

What is vegan skincare?

Being vegan means living life without consuming any type of animal product, including honey, eggs, meat and seafood.  To my disbelief, the cosmetic industry uses a lot more animal byproducts, more than we want to admit.  Ingredients like Adrenaline (adrenal glands of hogs, cattle and sheep), albumin (found in eggs, milk, muscles and blood) for coagulating agents, beeswax, or even bone meal (crushed/ ground animal bones) can be found in toothpaste!  Choosing vegan products means less of a carbon footprint on the planet and less animal cruelty.

Who are Vegreen and what do they stand for?

Vegreen’s brand name is a compound word of vegetable + green. Their mission is to produce cosmetics made with ingredients from nature that are safe for the skin and are also packaged in an eco-friendly manner.  The brand was created under the mother brand Hinature, which some of you brand nerds like myself would know is the brand that created Purito!  Hinature has had more than a decade as a distributor of skincare products and established Purito back in 2017.

Vegreen has even gone the extra mile to make sure their packaging sticker can be easily peeled off without residue and their boxes made with uncut wood and sugar cane by-product as well as being printed with soybean oil ink!  I currently have a giant compost bin in my backyard and am always wary if current printed cardboards would be okay in there.  I also detest the sticky residue left on the packaging, so this is PERFECT!  Packaging truly is one of those things that says a lot about a brand, even with the way they ship things too.

How to use:
Apply a moderate amount of Vegreen’s 730 daily moisture cream and massage it into the skin as your last step in your routine.

Product packaging:
The Vegreen daily moisture cream comes in this simplistic squeeze tube.  I actually quite enjoy my moisturizers in squeeze tubes like this since it reduces space taken up in my vanity and it is very easy to travel around with.  The cream is called the 730 daily moisture cream because Vegreen wishes you to have beautifully hydrated skin every day for the next 2 years (aka. 730 days).  Why are they so cute T_T.

To dispense the product, simply twist off the cap and voila!  You are good to go~

I am absolutely shocked at how simplistic the ingredients list is.  I’ve always been under the impression that bare bone ingredients list for things like moisturizers won’t hydrate my skin as well, but Vegreen truly proved me wrong.  My mindset changed after using Make prem’s safe me 12 ingredient moisturizer and was also shocked at how lightweight it was but still manages to maintain a good level of hydration.  If you were looking for a 100% vegan option, Vegreen is your gal!

Texture/ Finish:
The texture is a good cross between a gel and a cream.  It isn’t as thick as the creams I normally gravitate towards but it isn’t as thin as a gel either.  I think the texture and amazing hydration levels is all thanks to their use in Squalene (a poly-unsaturated hydrocarbon liquid found in animals and plants and even human sebum!) and Glycerin.

The cream spreads easily on the skin and melts into the skin effortlessly, leaving my skin feeling protected, hydrated and there is even a light beautiful dewy finish left behind.

This still shot truly does not do this cream justice.  I’m going to have to see if I could do GIF’s in the future to show you guys the texture.

Overall thoughts:
I’m highly impressed with this cream even though it is such a simple cream.  This is one of those products which you aren’t wowed by at first but is one of those products which you can rely on every single day, especially when you have chemical burnt your forehead before (yes that has happened before) and no product seems to help.  Vegreen’s daily moisture cream also would be a great mixing medium if you want to make your own tinted moisturizer or even mixing in your serums and powdered ingredients like cica, hyaluronic acid powder, or even niacinamide powder.  Overall I’m really impressed with their core launch and am excited to see what direction Vegreen will take!
