I think matte lip products have been blown up for a couple years now, so it’s natural that K-beauty is catching onto the craze. I personally like K-beauty lip products a hell of a lot more then Western formulas since there is a lot more variations, formulas, finishes, and tints for days! Memebox came out with their own matte lip crayons a while ago but I got my hands on all the shades to swatch and review for you guys. From the shade variation, these look really promising. Let’s get to reviewing! Go Go~

How to use:
1) Line the edge of the lips with the crayon and then fill in.
2) To experiment with other popular K-beauty lip trend, follow these easy how-to’s.
-Gradient lip: Apply lip crayon to the center of your lips and blend outwards with fingertips or a brush.
-Two tone lip: apply a lighter shade all over the lips and then a darker shade on the inner corners for that “just-bitten” effect. Or apply a darker shade on the outer corners of the lips and a lighter shade on the inner corners for a pout that looks natural plump.
Product packaging:
Packaging for these are quite standard. These come in a chubby stick type of packaging and the black part of the crayon has that same matte finish like Nar’s packaging. Attracts dirt? Yes, yes it does so if you are one that likes to keep things clean, good luck LOL. But hey, it’s a good indication to tell which crayons are the normal formula and which ones are the matte ones.
As for the color indication, there are color coded bottoms which I think is pretty true to color. On the side of the pencil is the shade name in English and everything else is the usual information but it is all in Korean anyways, so it’s pretty useless for me.
One thing that I do have to note is the chubby tips which does not help in terms of getting accurate and crisp lines. So if you want super crisp edges, either use a brush or shave down the tips.
Color/ Pigmentation:
I personally have pretty pigmented lips, so light shades doesn’t work that great with my lips. Also I have pretty chapped lips, so I always am on the hunt to find some good moisturizing lip products. Every night for more then half a year now, I’ve been loving my Aritaum ginger sugar overnight lip mask and it’s definitely been helping with my super chapped lips. With that being said, please excuse the already chapped looking lips.I usually don’t really like matte lip products since, well I already have dry lips and the only matte exception is the Pony effect stayfit matte lip colors which are matte but still manages to be comfortable on the lips. So let’s see how these will look on the lips.
Joy: Cool tone light dusty pink rose shade
I personally really do like the mixture of dustiness with a light rose, but for me, lighter shades don’t work with my dry lips since it always makes my dry patches pop. I don’t think it is the formula’s fault since this always happen to me. But the shade works great with my yellow undertone and I think it would look nice on a lot of skintones.
Lora: Warm toned muted raspberry shade
I usually am not a fan of warm toned pink shades since it just doesn’t look right on me but this shade doesn’t look half bad to be honest. Would I rock this shade a whole lot? Ehh… maybe not because again, I’m not a pink girl but these would also look flattering on a lot of skintones as well.
Greta: Warm toned strawberry shade with slight blue undertones
This is actually one pink shade I’d be comfortable to wear since it isn’t so light that it would make me look paler then I already am.
Blair: Warm toned burnt orange brink shade
Now I think this is one of the most unique shades ever. I don’t think I’ve came across a burnt orange brink looking shade that I like and looks decent on my skin. If you are looking for a really unique shade and are sick of the usual reds, berries and pink, this is the shade for you.Vanessa: Warm toned berry shade with blue undertones
Berry shades are one of my most favourite colors to wear since they are so effortless dramatic or if you blend it out, it gives the lips a nice flush to the lips. This shade has a good balance of berry and blue undertones and looks great with my yellow undertones.
Natasha: Bright red shade with blue undertone
Red shade are something you have to, HAVE TO get crips lines. So if you look at my bottom lip, you’ll see what I mean struggling with having crisp lines. BUT I do really love this shade and it is the type of reds I like against my skin color so it all works out.
Texture/ Finish:
These are definitely matte on the lips. I know it may not look like it in the swatches since there is a slight gloss on the top lips, but they do dry down in about 1 minute to a matte finish. After about 1 hour, my lips do get a bit dry but that’s to be expected. So definitely prep your lips before wearing these for a long period of time. They do advertise these crayons formulated with shea butter, Jojoba and argan oils so it does glide on the lips easily.
Lasting power:
On my lips, these last about a good 2-3 hours before it fades enough for me to want to retouch. Of course, if you wear to eat or drink, you’ll have to apply since these aren’t supposed to be long-lasting. Average wear time, 2-3 hours before reapplication.

Overall thoughts:
These matte lip shades definitely did not disappoint. Honestly, most K-beauty lip products are safe choices so if you were to want to jump into K-beauty, lip products are the way to go. Memebox and Memebox house brands all great lip products so these didn’t really surprise me in terms of quality-wise. All the shades glide on the lips no problem, gives the lips a matte look but the only thing I have to pick at is the rounded tip which really doesn’t make any sense. Other then that, all these are pretty bomb but if I were to pick this and the Pony effect stay fit matte lip colors, I’d still choose the Pony effect ones since it is slightly more moisturizing. Overall, not too shabby and I give it two thumbs up.
