Skinfood Fresh Fruit Juice Extraction Blush Review + Swatches

Benefit’s tints has always been an overrated product for me, at least in my opinion.  Their Benetint is a overpriced, watered down red tint and clearly Korean cosmetic’s counterparts give Benefit a run for their money.  When Skinfood came out with these Fresh fruit juice extraction blushes, I knew I had to try at least one in hopes of it being a dupe that I can recommend for you guys.  To my surprise, these are actually something I was hoping the Benefit tints to be but way better.  So stick around and I’ll show you why your going to need these in your life as well.  Let’s go!

How to use:
Drop a small amount on your juice zones (Cheeks) and gently spread with your fingertips.

Packaging:
Packaging for these tints are very similar to Benefit’s tints with is chubby bottle.  But unlike the Benefit ones, the bottle isn’t clear which is kind of a pain in the butt if you want to see how much product you have left.  I personally don’t really mind since you can easily see how much product you have if you just screw off the lid and look inside.  I also like that each shade has a color coordinated bottle and cap and it is actually very accurate.  Also there isn’t a stopper, so make sure not to tip the bottle when you have the cap off or it would end in a disaster.

Each of the shades has a brush applicator, which I prefer over a doe foot applicator.  You can use this on the cheeks as well as the lips and it gives you good control.

Color/ Pigmentation:
Like I said in the beginning, I was expecting this product to be a watery mess with no pigmentation.  To my surprise, it is very pigmented and lasts on my skins a lot longer then the Benefit ones.  It is almost like a creamy color rather then a watery tint, therefore the colors stay more true to how it comes out of the bottle.  On the cheeks, it blends out to be a really natural looking flush of color, almost like you used watercolours on your cheeks which is so pretty to me!  It may be a little too natural for some people, but for a dry skin type person like me, this is an absolute dream since it hydrates while colouring my cheeks.

Here are my bare lips with absolutely nothing on for you to compare with the tints on and without.

01 Pig and Plum: Creamy brownish peach shade

02 Active Carrot: Mellow carrot shade

I really don’t know how to explain this shade other than calling it a mellow carrot shade.  It isn’t those obnoxious-looking orange tints you see a lot in the K-beauty world.  It has a nice balance of orange but looks like those food coloring, toxic looking oranges if you catch my drift.

03 Mellow Raspberry: Muted dusty raspberry shade

I really don’t know why they call this a raspberry shade since it isn’t much a raspberry shade.  I mean it does kind of look like a raspberry shade if you cooked it into a puree LOL. On the lips, it barely shows but it is a really pretty shade.

04 Berry beet juice: Strawberry lavender shade

Sorry for the different lighting.  I got this shade last out of all the shades since there was a mix-up with my ordering.  But anyways, this shade is definitely my favorite one out of the four since I tend to gravitate toward lavender shades a lot.  This color shows up nicely on my lips as well as my cheeks and lasts a little bit longer than the other three since it is brighter out of the four.

Texture/ Finish:
When you first blend it into the skin, it almost has a creamy consistency to it.  As it dries down, it gets to almost a powdery finish but it still reminds quite hydrating.  It’s quite hard to describe the texture since it is so unique.  But one thing you do have to keep in mind is to not use too much when you apply it over your base makeup since it does make your base makeup move a bit.  When you down blending it into your skin, it leaves a nice natural glow to the skin but doesn’t feel tacky.

Lasting power:
This product doesn’t have the strongest lasting finish but I don’t have a problem reapplying this since it is so easy and effortless.  I’d say the average wear time if you don’t set this product with any powders is about 3-4 hours before you’ll have to reapply.

Fragrance?:
There is a fruity scent to it but it isn’t anything too strong and it does go away after application.  Smell-o-scale: 6/10 in terms of how strong the scent is.

Let’s try this on!  This shade is in 03 active carrot.

Here are my bare cheeks with nothing on it except for base make up.

Simply dab it onto your cheeks and blend away. I usually like to use my air puff for the blending and I’d suggest you guys work on one cheek at a time or else you’ll have the little dab marks on your cheeks.

And viola!  Left side is before and right side is after.  Can you see the subtle difference?  It is super natural looking but I absolutely love the effect it gives.

-can move your base makeup around if you’re not careful

Overall thoughts:
I really like this product. It came to me as a surprise since I didn’t think these would be any special, but I ended up getting all of their shades.  They are pigmented, show up on the skin, and blend effortlessly.  I highly recommend these over the Benefit Benetints any day for sure.  The stand-out shades for me I think is 04 berry beet juice which shows up the most and lasts the longest.  Overall I really like this product and definitely recommend you guys pick up at least one of the four shades to try for yourself!
