Did you know The face shop has bought out Avon?ย Okay, I’m not too sure if they fully bought out Avon or they have majority stocks in the company, but The face shop products can now be found on Avon!ย That is quite an interesting combo if I do say so myself, but it is becoming more and more common for Korean companies to purchase Western beauty brands.ย Take Amorepacific for an example! They have recently purchase Milk make up, yes the Milk make up you can find at Sephora.ย Estee Lauder also bought out Dr Jart.ย Do you see a trend happening here?ย Anyways, with the recent partnership of the face shop and Avon, they sent me some products to test out and review for you guys.ย Quite frankly, it doesn’t seem to be new products, which is kind of a disappointment for me since I thought we were going to be seeing exclusive products!ย Nonetheless, here is a one brand review!ย Let’s go~

Texture:
I’m not a huge primer user since most of the primers out there are either like a watered-down moisturizer or a heavy silicone-based product, making your skin feel silky but dry at the same time.ย I’m very surprised with the face shop’s ink lasting primer not falling under either of the two categories, but is almost a mix of the two.ย It isn’t heavy in silicone but it does feel somewhat silky while leaving a bit of hydration on the skin.ย The texture is relatively lightweight and absorbs into the skin quickly.ย Foundation/ BB cushion applies on top nicely without any piling, but I can’t say if it makes a huge difference for my dry skin.
After absorption, there is no greasy or super silicone feeling which is always welcomed in my kit.ย There is absolutely no shine or glitter as well.

There isn’t the biggest difference in the world but you can kind of seem the right side looking slightly more glowy than the right.ย In terms of how it wears throughout the day, my base make up (not powdered) seems to shift around just a tad bit less.ย I don’t have oily skin so I cannot comment on that department.
Fragrance?:
Although fragrance is listed as one of the ingredients, it is last on the list but I really don’t smell anything.ย It faintly smells like rose but it is super duper faint.ย Smell-o-scale: 3/10 in terms of how strong the scent is and fragrance fades after application.
Pro:
-somewhat hydrating (I’m guessing it is because of the Squalane)
-isn’t super silicone feeling
-gives a tad bit better wear time for base make up
Con:
-contains rose extract and rose flower oil (my skin is deathly allergic although I haven’t gotten a reaction, yet…)
Repurchase?:
No because of the rose content.

Overall thoughts:
I think this is one of the better primers I have come across that is a good in-between with its hydrating properties from the Squalane, prune extract and rose flower oil and its slight silky texture to mattify and control oil production. I want to be able to enjoy this primer since I do like the texture, however, my skin is deathly allergic to rose and my skin would break out in almost a hive-like fashion.ย I’m surprised I haven’t broken out from this primer yet, but as a precaution, I will have to stay away.ย Overall I think this is a great primer and at a price point of $23, I think it is a reasonable purchase.

The cushion case is your standard cushion case size and look, but the cover has a metal detailing that I really appreciate.ย My camera does not appreciate it though.ย Photographing black items is the absolute worst since it overexposes everything!! UGH. Inside has a nice sized mirror as well as your standard air puff.ย I’d prefer for the air puff to be the navy blue ones and not the beige ones since it is way easier to clean and it wouldn’t look like it is forever dirty.
I’m also kind of surprised this cushion doesn’t come with a refill nor is there a refill option but hopefully they will have that option in the near future.
Okay trying time!
Here is my bare skin and it has been somewhat hormonal and irritated around the cheeks.ย I usually like to cover the redness around my cheeks, sides of my nose and chin and I prefer dewy/ moisturizing finishes.ย Satin and mattes rarely work for me, but sometimes if it is well formulated and has good adherence to my dry skin, I would opt for a satin/ matte foundation for special occasions.
To apply the cushion foundation, take the air puff and slip it between your second, third and fourth fingers.ย Pat the air puff onto the soaked cushion and pat away onto your face! It is as simple as that.
Texture/ Finish:
Like the description stated, this BB cushion has a “smooth matte” finish and it is just that.ย It isn’t overly drying but the sides of my nose do start to flake around the 4-hour mark.ย Although my skin likes the dewy finish, this isn’t a half-bad matte BB cushion!ย I think this would work better for those with normal, combo or even oily skin types.
Color/ Pigmentation:
The cushion shade that was sent to me was W10 fair light, which doesn’t seem to be listed on the website at the moment.ย Maybe they are sold out? Out of all the shades available, W10 fair light is a decent match but I’m wondering if W20 Ivory would look less pale on me.ย Without the bright studio lights, this cushion foundation would actually work after contour, blush and highlight.
Coverage:
With one layer, the ink lasting cushion covered 85% of my redness but I did go back in with a thin second layer on my cheeks to cover the redness.ย I wouldn’t use this under the eyes since the formula is a bit too mattifying and I usually have to color correct with an orange concealer to counteract the purple and blue under my eyes.ย This cushion gives a solid medium to full coverage if you so desire.
I look like a pale ghost ready to haunt you in your sleep LOL.
Lasting power:
With my dry skin, this BB cushion lasted 6-8 hours before it faded around the nose and a little bit around the cheeks.ย It did, however, start to look a bit dry on my cheeks.
Fragrance?:
There is a little bit of a soapy fragrance but nothing too offensive.ย Smell-o-scale: 5/10 in terms of how strong the scent is and the fragrance does fade after application.
Pro:
-medium to high coverage
-not so drying matte finish

Although I do think this is a good cushion foundation, especially if this was an entry BB cushion you stumble upon if you are an Avon shopper, this was a bit too dry for my skin.ย I hope they come out with a hydrating version with the same buildable coverage.ย Then I would be screaming to the mountains!ย But for now, this is a pass for me but I can see other skin types loving this BB cushion.

Right off the bat, I don’t like the bottom being clear since it comes off as cheap looking.ย If it was a solid orange shade, it would look much much better.ย I don’t know, it just screams kids make up when the bottom is plastic.ย Anyways, I do like that the packaging coordinates with the shade inside.ย There is a mirror that would be good for touch-ups but I find it a bit too small to do much.ย The air puff is the dark navy blue ones that I like but in a mini version so that cushion application would be more swift.
Okay quick try on.ย Here is my face with pretty much everything on except for blush and highlight.ย Also, if you are wondering what mascara I’m wearing, check out my Heroine make mascara review!ย Yes I know, I’m so late to the party.ย Better late than never ;).
Application is the same as the BB cushion where you slip the air puff onto your fingers and pat away.
Color/ Pigmentation:
Now, what is with that face?ย Because the cushion is so watery and watercolor-esque, I did not anticipate for the blush to be so pigmented!!ย The shade I am using is in 03 coral and man it is pigmented!ย The coral shade would look gorgeous on deeper skin tones too and it also gives you that healthy glow on the cheeks.ย So word of advice when you are applying this, go EASY!!
Texture/ Finish:
After I fixed my heavy-handed mistake with a bit of BB cushion, it looks so natural and gorgeous on the cheeks.ย It is highly moisturizing and gives you a nice healthy glow.ย It also doesn’t move your base makeup around and glides right over any skin texture or imperfections! I am in love and definitely want to try the other shades!!
Lasting power:
I think because it was sitting on top of the matte BB cushion that it didn’t seem to shift around much during the day.ย But if I were to use a dewy BB cushion, I’d definitely recommend you guys to keep it in your purse for light touch-ups.ย I’d say I have an average wear time of 4-5 hours with a dewy foundation and 6 hours with a satin/ matte foundation.
Fragrance?:
There is a light floral scent, smell-o-scale: 4/10 and fragrance fade after application.

Out of all the products, the cushion blush is absolutely stellar and a dream for those with normal to dry skin.ย It has the ability to instantly inject back moisture into your skin if you are using a drier foundation and is so easy to blend out.ย The nice flush of color is so flatter and healthy looking too!ย If I had a daughter and she wanted to start playing with makeup, this would be one of the products I’d introduce to her.ย It is appropriate for all ages and just looks so DANG GOOD!ย Two thumbs up and I will look into getting the other shades as well.ย Where has this been all my life.

When I first got this lipstick pencil, I was so confused and thought there was no name for this product.ย Usually, typography for the product name is bigger then the rest and all the boring information that no one reads is in smaller text. Nope, not with this lip pencil!ย The name, the shade name is all mixed in.ย I almost didn’t know what shade this is either!ย The face shop, please… at least space out the shade name!!ย I’m so.. confused….
Packaging for this lip pencil is kind of unique, with its rectangle tip which makes the application much easier!ย I realized I didn’t take a picture of the tip, so this promo picture will have to do.ย It is also a twist-up pencil, so no sharpening for us whoo whoo!
I’d say I have pretty pigmented lips, but I don’t usually have a problem with lipsticks unless it is a super light shade.ย I know I could dab foundation on my lips first, but I don’t like my lips feeling heavy and crusty.ย I’m a lip balm gal 90% of the time and 10% I’d dab the lipstick on my lips but never full-on fill it out.ย I’m just a clumsy person and would wipe it on everything and everyone, so lip balm for me!
Color/ Pigmentation + texture/ finish:
Although I don’t like matte foundations, I do like velvet lip products.ย What is a velvet finish you ask?ย It is kind of a hybrid between satin and matte finish with a bit more moisture built into them.ย They aren’t exactly matte but also doesn’t look glossy.ย This flat velvet lipstick is a great representation of what a velvet lipstick is, along with its high pigmentation.ย K-beauty does lip products on so well that I never have to second guess when I’m buying them online.
Fluffy pink is a warm-toned pink with slight peach undertones.ย I personally didn’t like the color combination with the blush, so I didn’t wear it in my full face of make up.ย There are 10 shades to choose from, so you’ll definitely find one that is right for you.
Lasting power:
This lipstick will transfer if you kiss someone or eat, so be prepared to have it for retouches.ย For regular wear, this gives me a good 4 hours of wear if I don’t eat or kiss frogs.
Fragrance?:
There is a very faint mango scent but I also could be hallucinating.ย Smell-o-scale: 3/10 in terms of how strong the scent is and fragrance dissipates immediately after application.

Overall thoughts:
I am super pleased with this velvet lipstick but at the same time, I am not surprised.ย I absolutely love the texture of this lipstick and it contains argan, calendula, jojoba, and olive oil, making it super hydrating on the lips.ย This will transfer so be careful and have it in your purse for touch-ups.ย Other then the typography issue, the product itself is stellar and I’d recommend it with two thumbs up.
Although I didn’t think of the face shop too fondly in the past, these couple of products have convinced me otherwise.ย I remember the face shop being in malls in the early 2000s but then closed their doors due to poor sales.ย Then the whole K-pop wave happened and a couple of years back, the face shop reappeared after almost 10 years of silence in the West. I am happy to see them evolve and now being a part of Avon is a very smart move on their part.ย I hope these reviews were helpful I honestly intended to make short reviews for each product but just ended up writing full-blown reviews.ย ย Cheers, and happy lunar new year!
