Blackpink Lisa eyeshadow palette Moonshot reve de paris eyeshadow palette Product packaging:
When I was shopping online on Jolse (with gifted store credits), the promo pictures were not translated and was still in Korean.  I was expecting this palette to be a full-size palette but what came in the mail was a shock.

The palette itself has a nice soft silicone matte finish with a sleek typography design.  I’m actually quite surprised Moonshot decided to step away from their space theme and go with a Paris theme for this palette.Blackpink member make up Moonshot reve de paris eyeshadow palette Compared to my iPhone 6s (yes I know I have an old phone), The palette is a little more than half the size of my phone.  As a consumer, I would have expected at least the full size of my phone.  I normally don’t look at the amount of product there is before purchasing, so this is definitely a noteworthy point I need to get across before you guys decide to purchase for yourself.

Moonshot reve de Paris eyeshadow palette review

Moonshot reve de Paris eyeshadow paletteTexture/ Finish + Colour/ pigmentation:
One thing I love about this palette is the number of mattes there are compared to shimmers/ glitter finishes.  Most K-beauty palettes out there load up on the shimmers and glitter shades but neglect the matte shades, which in my opinion, are the most important shades.  This Moonshot Rêve de Paris palette 7 matte shades and 2 shimmer shades which is almost unheard of!

The top row (Magnolia, Petit Twilly) are two light beige tons for blending, which I appreciate it being the two biggest shades since those who be the most used shades.

In the middle row, Chandelier and Eiffel Night looks awfully similar, and even swatching it, there is only a slight undertone difference.

In the last row, the first three shades to the left have too similar of a tone and blend into a blob on my skin.

Of course, most people would have this palette alongside their other eyeshadows in their collection, but if I was a minimalist and only buy a few makeup products a year and this is all I had, it would be pretty hard to come up with looks that don’t look like I got punched in the eye all year round.  I get that the burgundy theme was what they went for, however, the shades look too similar on the eye and I had a rough time trying to make it work.

Moonshot reve de Paris eyeshadow palette swatches reviewMagnolia: Cool light yellow undertone beige shade (matte)
Petit Twilly: Warm tone faded clementine shade (matte)

With these two being the largest pan of the palette, I expected a little more than this.  I don’t feel like we needed Petit Twilly in the palette and would have much rather have a pearlescent champagne shade or even a cool tone chocolate brown shade as a blending base shade.  Both of these swatch decently with a buttery finish, but it just isn’t enough to satisfy when applied on the eye.

Moonshot reve de Paris swatches reviewChandelier: Warm tone orangey champagne shade (shimmer)
Classy coat: Warm tone brown rose shade (matte)
Eiffel Tower: Cool tone light mandarin shade (shimmer)
Creme Brulee: Warm tone burnt orange shade with slight brown undertone (matte)

We are not going to be surprised the shimmer shades in this palette performs the best because that is what K-beauty does best, eyeliners and shimmery eyeshadows.  I’m quite disappointed with Classy coat and how it skips when you swatch it.  With a brush, it doesn’t skip as bad but you need to build it up which is a pain.  Creme brulee performs a bit better than Classy coat, with its nice buttery and silky texture.

What they did best with this palette is the texture of the matte shades.  A lot of K-beauty brands fail to make a decent matte shade but Moonshot has definitely set the bar in the department.  They just need to work on the pigmentation a bit.

Blackpink make up review Moonshot reve de Paris swatches reviewRose milk tea: Warm tone rose shade with slight orange undertones (matte)
Antic Boutque: Warm tone burgundy shade with brown undertones (matte)
Sensual Berete: Cool tone medium rose shade (matte)
Dark Roast: Espresso brown shade (matte)

The last row has a bit more interesting shades but also is too similar to the shades up above.  Rose milk tea and Creme brulee are quite similar in lightness and the only thing that sets them both apart is the undertone.  On the skin, they are different enough to be told apart and would look like a muddy mess if used together.  Same with Antic boutique and Classy coat.  They both have that same tone but Antic boutique is four shades darker.

I am quite happy with Sensual Beret and Dark roast as they are different enough for me to tell them apart on the skin and Dark roast is an essential shade if you want to darken up your look or line your eyes.

Moonshot reve de Paris eyeshadow palette swatches and reviewsHere is the look I created with as many shades as I can fit on my small eyelid space.  This is actually pretty muddy looking in person but doesn’t look too bad in pictures.  I honestly just gave up trying and this is what I came up with.

Pro:
-mostly mattes (which I love)
-buttery and silky textures

Con:
-super small palette + only 9g of product
-colors are too similar to each other

Overall thoughts:
So note to self, stick with Moonshot’s face and lip products and skip the eye products.  Am I disappointed?  Heck yes.  I want to be on the same wagon like everyone else who loves this product.  The truth of the matter is, it is way too small of a palette to justify the $30 price tag and the color story is all kinds of a mess.  Why would you have six shades that are so similar to each other?  It just doesn’t work. Overall this palette gets a passing grade for me but it isn’t something I can recommend.
