Skinfood dark circle concealer cream was one of those cult-favorite products among those who were familiar with K-beauty.ย Sadly, Skinfood as a brand went under before I could even test it out, and even before they officially were about to disappear, their products were being stocked at all in stores and online. How to use:
Dab and blend concealer onto dark circles. Layer until desired coverage and set with powder.
Packaging:
The packaging is still the same signature Skinfood look.ย This concealer comes in a plastic jar with a metal lid.ย Although I’m not one to like concealers in a jar since it isn’t the most sanitary, I will forgive this concealer because it is that good!
Inside the jar contains 10 g of product, which is quite a bit since a little goes a long way with this concealer.ย For those of you who don’t understand color theory, to cancel out the blue and purple tones under the eyes, you want to use the opposite color on the color wheel.ย Something with a peachy orange tone will easily get the job done.ย I’ve tried many color-correcting products 5 years back when it was all the rage and not many were hydrating enough for my under eyes.ย The only color-correcting concealer I used under my eyes by Clio is now discontinued, which frinkin sucks!ย
Color/ Pigmentation:
There are two shades available for you to choose from and I just got it in shade #1. From the promotion pictures, shade 01 salmon blooming is a brighter salmon-orange shade, while 02 salmon beige would be close to your skin tone.ย I should have got both shades to compare, but I had a brain fart when I was ordering.
Swatching it on the back of my hand, you might think it might look a little too orange.ย However, once it is blended out under my eyes, it is perfect and matches my yellow undertone well!ย It isn’t super sheer and is buildable too.
Here is my bare skin, looking more and more decrepit day by day.ย My dark circles also want to become more and more permanent, which is kind of sad.
The magic of this Skinfood salmon dark circle concealer cream is going to shock you!ย I sound like a Buzzfeed article.
As you can see, there is quite a bit of purple under my eyes and even blue veins now.ย Sho sad…
To be able to cover up the purple and blue, I simply use my fingertip, tap some under my eyes but not right below it since you want to blend upwards.ย I also tap some at the cover of my eye which has this weird purple hollow bit.
Texture/ Finish + coverage:
With petrolatum and lanolin oil being the first two ingredients, no wonder this concealer melts into the skin so effortlessly.ย It also adheres onto the skin so easily with amazing color-correcting coverage too!ย The salmon color perfectly matches my skin tone and just blends effortlessly into the skin.ย I don’t add another concealer on top, mostly because I’m lazy, but also because it is practically undetectable under the eyes.
The directions say to set it with some powder, but I like my skin to look dewy.ย I also have really dry skin, so powder never agrees with it.ย This concealer does settle a bit in the lines after 3 hours, but nothing a quick dab can’t fix.ย Of course, if you choose to set it with powder, you won’t have this issue.
Lasting power:
I don’t really have a problem with it fading under my eyes and it also doesn’t seem to move a lot.ย I would touch up after 5 hours or so, just to keep the coverage up to speed.
Fragrance?:
There is a very light floral, soapy fragrance but it is super mild and doesn’t linger after application.ย Smell-o-scale: 4/10 in terms of how strong the scent is.
Pro:
-super hydrating
-blends easily into the skin
-perfect tone to color correct under eyes
-not drying throughout the day
Con:
Absolutely no complaints!!

Overall thoughts:
This easily, EASILY earns a holy grail stamp from me and if it ever gets discontinued, I’m starting a riot.ย I can see why it is loved by so many and for the affordable price of 8,000 won (a little less than $8 usd), you really can’t go wrong.ย Yes, there are only two shades sadly, but because this is a color-correcting shade, I can see many skin tones being able to use this.ย It melts into the skin, doesn’t settle badly into my eye creases, and is just chef’s kisses. I APPROVE and am about to buy all their stock.ย You better run and get this before I buy out the whole store, just saying.
