If you haven’t been around the cushion loop like I have, welcome back.ย I don’t think I’ll go back to becoming BB cushion crazy like before since it is a pain in the butt to clean these and recycle them.ย Although I’ve been out of the loop for a while, one BB cushion I always see is this black one with the face on it. I never took the time to find out which cushion it was, however, Jolse recently added Javin de Seoul on their website and I knew I had to try it out.
Javin de Seoul wink foundation pact was known to have great coverage, a formula that glides on top of the skin and was still hydrating at an affordable price too!ย At that time, it was only sold online.ย Even though it wasn’t found in brick-and-mortar stores, it still shot up to the top 3 BB cushions in the Korean market and is still well-loved.ย I’m definitely going to have to find out what is the fuss for you guys!ย Let’s get into the review.
From the promo pictures I’m seeing on the Javin de Seoul website, the wink foundation pack has changed the packaging to coordinate with the bloom foundation.ย No longer does it have the holographic face on it but a plain leather-like compact.

I don’t find the compact any smaller even to this day.ย I kind of wish they did make BB cushions slimmer, but what can you do?ย I do however like that these compacts are magnetic!ย As I mentioned up above, the compact has changed from this holographic compact to the same look as the bloom foundation pact.ย The official website also stated if you have bought a previous Javin de Seoul wink foundation pact that contains 13.5g of product, the new 15g of product compact will not be compatible anymore.ย I believe this is an old compact case, so if I want to get a refill, I’d have to get the new compact as well.
A cute wink design.ย This will attract fingerprints but wipe it down I guess?
The Javin de Seoul wink foundation pact seems to have many more shades to choose from in comparison to the bloom line.ย It was kind of hard to pick a shade since the promo swatch pictures were really hard to tell what the actual undertone is.ย I ended up with shade #22 cover sand and it seems to be a decent match.

Here is my bare skin.ย My skin at the moment is quite irritated from the hot and cold it has been exposed to.ย I also got two nice pimples volcano-ing on my chin, perfect for the demo.ย My main issue with foundations is the fact that it is never hydrating enough or it catches onto the dry patches on my face.ย Keep in mind, I’m freshly exfoliated and I’ve done my skincare prep to help ease the dryness and patchiness.ย That is also why I prefer BB cushions since it is lighter on the skin and also easy to apply.
It is good to be back with a fresh new BB cushion.ย Nothing feels like it! Pat pat pat.
Texture/ Finish + Color/ Pigmentation:
One pat and I already can’t believe what I’m seeing.ย Not to be dramatic, but that was truly my reaction the first time I tried it off-camera.ย It still amazes me how flawlessly it is applied to the face.ย Shade #22 cover sand is definitely the right shade for my Mac NC25 yellow undertone skin color.ย There isn’t any grey undertone nor does it “oxidize” after sitting on my skin.
LOOK AT THAT COVERAGE.ย I’m 100% not using any sort of filter and never have with the pictures on my blog. LOOK, AT, THAT!ย My skin is flawless, even in person looking closely in the mirror.ย The original Javin de Seoul wink foundation pact is said to have more of a semi-matte finish and I can definitely agree with the matte part.ย Somehow, it is still hydrating and doesn’t look dry on the skin.ย This formula kind of reminds me of the Etude House double-lasting foundation but BETTER.ย Do you see that natural-looking glow on the tops of my cheekbones?
Coverage:
With just one layer, everything is covered for me!!ย No redness is peeking out on the sides of my nose or the center of my cheeks.ย I personally don’t like to set my BB cushion either since I find it naturally sets itself after 2-3 hours of wear.ย Yes, my skin is just that dry.ย It absorbs any moisture known to man-kind.
Lasting power:
Fading did appear on the tip of my nose after 10 hours of wear.ย The cheek area could use some retouching as well, but I’m just lazy when I’m out and about.ย The times I did reapply, the process was flawless and no bunching showed up either.ย This BB cushion truly is magic and I can see why the whole east side of the world was and still is obsessed with this.

Overall thoughts:
This BB cushion has easily won a holy grail status for me and will be definitely repurchasing after I’m done with this one.ย The shade is perfect, the coverage is amazing, and the finish is just right.ย I can definitely say Goldilocks is very happy with her porridge.ย Well, in this case, it is her BB cushion.ย I highly recommend you guys go try this BB cushion out.ย I can see every skin type loving this.

I didn’t realize when I got this Javin de Seoul bloom foundation pact, the top of the compact is lined with a fake leather finish.ย This whole time, I thought it was just plastic!ย This compact is also magnetic too which is a nice sleek touch.
The shade range for the bloom formula is quite poor, with only 3 shades to choose from.ย You’d think it would have the same range as the original :/.
Let’s go ahead and compare the two formulas.ย This one is supposed to be a moist semi-glow finish, not a semi-matte finish like the wink formula.ย I usually go for the dewy finishes, but we will see!
Texture/ Finish + Color/ Pigmentation:
Here is my before picture. I didn’t want to wipe off the right side of my face since I wanted to compare the two side by side.ย The shade I chose was #21 sheer ivory, which I had an inkling that would be too light on me. If I were to get it again, I most likely would get #23 sheer beige.ย I could make #21 work on me, however, it is slightly too pale for my liking.ย Maybe if I want to be strategic with it, I could use it to naturally highlight the high points of my face.
Coverage:
The picture above is the before.ย As you can see, with just one layer of this bloom foundation, it definitely evened out my skin tone completely!ย It is also much dewier in formula and gives my whole face a hydrating sheen.ย The coverage isn’t as solid as the wink foundation though, but that is to be expected since the formula has more hydration built into it.ย I’d say with one layer, this gives a light to medium coverage while the wink foundation pact gives a solid medium to buildable high coverage.
Lasting power:
This side is the wink foundation pact side.ย The glow is definitely more subtle if that is what you want to achieve.ย I also found the bloom foundation pact to not last as long on my skin and did start to look a bit patchy after hour 6.
Afar, the difference isn’t too crazy noticeable.ย Left side is the Javin de Seoul bloom foundation pact and right is the wink foundation pact.
I even applied it on my eye lid, but of course, that was not a good idea since it is already separating LOL.ย I don’t usually apply it over my eyes, and this time I did for some odd reason.
And before someone asks because I know someone will, my lip shade is Rom&nd dewy-ful water tint in #4 chili up.ย Applying the rest of my cream products on, there was no issue of budging either.ย Everything stayed put right where I wanted it to be.

Overall thoughts:
I think this Javin de Seoul bloom foundation pact is a good alternative to the wink foundation pact.ย Although similar, they are definitely not the same.ย Even though I have very dry skin, I still prefer the original formulation for its strong lasting power and amazing coverage.ย This bloom foundation breaks down not so pretty after 6 ish hours and I want to still look cute for at least 8 hours!ย Overall this is a good product, but I might not be repurchasing this one.
I didn’t know where to put these pictures since they seemed to be a little out of order.ย Inside the compact, there is a nice-sized mirror which I never seem to rip the plastic off of.ย The air puffs are your standard ones with a firmer touch and don’t seem to absorb as much product as the classic blue air puffs.
Side by side, the bloom foundation pact in #21 is definitely paler compared to the wink formula.ย I definitely picked one that was too light for me haha.
Hmm, I might have to pick up shade #23 sheer beige for the bloom formula and see if that changes my opinion.ย For now, I am obsessed with the wink formula and you guys seriously have to check it out!
