Bobbi Brown Intensive skin serum corrector first impression Review + Demo

Not too long ago, about three weeks ago I believe, Bobbi Brown came out with two new serum concealer and correctors and I knew I had to give it a shot.  I’m already a big fan of their creamy concealer kit, so it was a natural move to go ahead and give their new concealer a try.  The one I actually picked up was their corrector and not a concealer since I wanted something potent for my deadly purple under eye bags. Product packaging:
The packaging of this product is sleek, straight forward and you can feel the quality of the product.  I wouldn’t expect less since it is $40 for a small tube of concealer.  

The tube is made of quality plastic with the Bobbi Brown embossed on the top of the lid which is a very nice, high end touch.  I know that doesn’t really do much for the actual formula, but it just sets the mood and makes me feel like a grown up when I use this. 

Inside is just a regular doe foot applicator which just works, quite standard.

Color/pigmentation:Most of the correctors have a peach undertone to combat against purple and blue undertones under the eye.  I can’t speak for all of the shades since I only got one that works for my skin so I will description light bisque 2.  I picked this shade since it was very opaque salmon, peachy pink shade because I needed something potent for staying up late all the time to edit and write blog posts and do “research” for the latest Kbeauty and beauty in general.  Overtime, my under eyes became more prominent and I kind of look like death front the lack of sleep.  Although it looks scary pink when swatched, once blended out, it looks natural enough to pass but I use a little bit of my regular skin coloured concealer over it just in case.

Texture/ finish:
At first when I tested it out in stores, I was like “ehhh… it is totally going to be either really thick and look cakey underneath the eyes or too oily since it is a serum formula.”  To my surprise, the formula is somehow just right.  It is lightweight, moisturizing under the eyes, not cakey and does not bunch up even if it is not set.  I use nothing else but my fingers to blend it out and it works great! When you first apply it, it has a dewy texture. After about 10 mins when it fully sets, it has a satin finish and is very comfortable under the eyes.  It does not budge, smudge or bunch up.  Its awesomeee!!  I’ve already fallen in love with it.

Lasting power:
When I first got it, I tried it on right before I had to work.  Keep in mind, I work in a kitchen that makes me sweat (not a ton but still a little bit), standing in front of hot appliances and the concealer somehow still stayed put.  I work a full 8 hours a day and even on my day off, I wore this for more the 10 hours and it still did not budge until I took off my make up at the end of the night.  I would catch myself looking into the mirror and think to myself, “Wow I look so much more awakened today!”  Seriously I kid you not, this stuff really makes a big difference.

Fragrance?:
There is a slight scent to this corrector, kind of smells like nail polish but a very mild, chemically scent.  Ohh that is not good.  It is not strong enough to make me not want to use it but it does make me question if it is safe to use around the eyes (,,꒪꒫꒪,,). Smell-o-scale=4/10

Demo time!My before.  I have my eye brows done, eye make up done and nothing else on my face at the moment.  As you can see, my under eyes are very purple and slightly blue and red.  I’ve tried regular skin coloured concealers but of course that did not cover it, the purple/redness would still peek through.  I tried even using a straight color base under my eyes and it worked, however the color base was so vibrant, it made me look like a cartoon more then a human being with the peach underneath my eyes.

I definitely look tired even though I’m not.  I have to look up how to massage my eye area to help the blood circulation to get rid of those panda eyes.

Let’s begin~

Take your magic wand and apply a little bit underneath the eyes.

Try not to put a ton of this stuff since it is very potent.  Just dot a little under your eyes and if you need more, then go back and dot a little bit more and blend away.

I’ve tried using my air puff, brush or my fingers and surprisingly, my fingers was the best method.  I guess the warmth from my fingers help it melt into my skin better.  That is great news for me since it is one less step~  Whooo!!!

1 layer after, it already looks so much better but I think I could use another layer.

2 layers after, my under eyes is pretty much concealed.  Looking good ﾍ(=￣∇￣)ﾉ

Just to make sure the pinkness of the concealer doesn’t make me look crazy and to get a little bit more coverage, I’m going back in with Bobbi Brown’s creamy concealer kit.  With my air puff sprintzed with water, I’m going to stamp on the concealer over the corrector.  I’ve found the air puff gives me the right amount of concealer underneath my eyes without looking or feeling heavy.  I used to dread using any type of solid creamy products since it usually bunches up onto my dry skin, so finding this gem to match my dry skin was some type of miracle for me.

Overall:
I don’t think I can go back anymore.  Even though it has only been two weeks, I know this is a product that will stay with me forever and I would be very said if they discontinued it.  I find myself reaching for this product even if I’m not doing a full face of make up because I look so different with and without it.  With it, I look like I’m awake and can trick the world into thinking I actually slept for more the eight hours a day but we both know I’ve been up all night up to no good (chilling with the computer and blogging kekek, ONLINE SHOPPING BABY!).  I’ve also been taken by the formula of this corrector.  I’ve had experience with other concealers but none of them were to my liking since it would look okay when it is applied freshly.  As the day goes by, they would either bunch all into my eye wrinkles, look dry or look dull.  This one does not do that and is lightweight. I’m just starting to repeat myself at this point.  All I have to say is give this a test in the store the next time you are near a Bobbi Brown counter or in Sephora, I can see this working for all types of skin types, especially those with a dry skin type.
