Rose has always been an ingredient I’ve been scared of ever since a rose sheet mask in the past completely messed up my skin. I’ve never had my skin been so irritated for weeks on end and have my face itchy too!ย So when Commleaf offered to send me some of their products and surprised me with their rose line, I was a little iffy if I have to be honest.ย But there are a couple of pros with some of the products so let’s just get into the review.ย This is gonna be a trio review so get some hot tea because I’m about to serve you (like always) some hot tea hunny!ย Oh dear god, I’m talking so millennial.ย Slap me please…ย
Commleaf is a combination of a comma and a leaf, where comma implies “to rest’ and leaf representing nature.ย Comma and leaf together presents a new meaning of “rest in nature”, which describes new naturalistic cosmetics.
Rose contains astringent and antibacterial properties which translates to an ingredient that is great for those with acne prone and oily skin type. They also have the ability to reduce redness as well as calm the skin down.ย Rose extracts contains high content of vitamin C which helps stimulate collagen and vitamin E which helps moisturize the skin.ย Many people also use rose water as a toner since it has a mild astringent property which helps tighten pores and gently tones the skin as well.
I’m not sure if it was just that one evil sheet mask that I used in the past that has tainted rose skincare forever for me but I’ve also tried 107 oneoseven’s rose water vinegar mist and love that product.ย So I’m just going to conclude maybe not all rose products are evil and it could have been just that product itself.ย Or maybe I am allergic to one specie of rose and not others?ย Hmm but then again Hera’s rosy satin cream also irritated my skin.ย BLAH I don’t know!
As for the rose skincare line from Commleaf, they use Rosa Damascena flower water from France that is infused in the form of a natural essence, extracted by distilling to obtain the rose in its purest form.

How to use:
After you have cleansed, toned and used any essence/serums/ emulsions to your desire, massage gently all over your face and wash off the next morning.

Packaging for this product comes in a simple plastic squeeze tube with a screw off cap.ย With the small window on the top and bottom of the label, you can peek through and see the chunks of rose.ย ย
Nothing too crazy here with the squeeze tube LOL.ย Seriously, what else can I say about the packaging.ย You get what you see. Viola~
Texture + effects:
The rose petals aren’t actually in huge chunks and does disappear into the skin after you’ve massaged it so don’t worry about waking up looking like you ran into a honey factory and then got stuck outside during spring flower season.ย This sleeping mask absorbs into the skin very quickly and does not leave any greasy or heavy feeling which would be nice for most other skin types but for a dry skin girl like me, I didn’t find this sleeping mask to be hydrating enough at all.ย I used it couple of times in a row and I woke up to my skin feeling slightly tight but hey, at least my skin didn’t break out like no body’s business.

Fragrance?:
If you imagine a rich Parisian lady, this is what she would smell like.ย Simple pure rose floral scent that isn’t overly stuffy or powdery.ย The scent is quite strong and does linger after application so if you are wary with scents, this might not be for you.ย Smell-o-scale: 7.5/10 in terms of how strong the scent is.

Overall thoughts:
I really don’t mean to be harsh or anything but this product did nothing for my skin.ย The formula is too lightweight and rose water didn’t do much for my skin.ย I think this product would suit those with oily, normal skin type or those who live in humid cities, this might work better for you.ย I live in a low humidity city and also have the heater blasting all the time, so you can imagine how wrinkly dry my face becomes.ย Overall this is a no for me but I do have some better news after this product haha.ย Scroll on down~

How to use:
Use after you have cleansed your face by taking one of the pads and gently massaging your face, neck and body (if you so desire).ย
Product packaging:
These pads come in a sleek white hard plastic jar with a twist off lid.ย I really do appreciate that there is both English and Korean on the packaging and they have the instructions in English too!ย
Once you screw the lid off, you’ll find another lid inside to seal in all the moisture.ย Unfortunately this doesn’t come with a spatula of any sort so you’ll have to gracefully peel one out when you do go to use it.
Texture + effects:
Texture of these pads are very similar if not the same as the ones from Cosrx.ย These pads from Commleaf have one side that is embossed which is suppose to aid in dead skin removal but I wouldn’t rely on just these pads if you really want to get rid of dead skin cells.ย The essence itself is super hydrating thanks to propolis in the formula.ย I usually use these in the morning when I’m lazy to cleanse my skin and use this almost like a toner and essence in one and then use a bit of moisturizer and then head out the door.ย Another way I use it is as a hydrating skincare step before make up so my base make up doesn’t look cakey since it acts as a primer.ย Commleaf’s moisture pads definitely remind me of Cosrx’s moisture up pads but $5 more expensive and has less then half the amount.ย But I do still think these are nice if you want to spice up your routine and not just stick to using the same old same old.ย The essence leaves your skin feeling hydrated and looking glowy.

The pads have a light rose scent, but nothing comparable to the sleeping mask.ย Smell-o-scale: 5/10 in terms of how strong the scent is and it also doesn’t linger after application.

Overall thoughts:
I think this is a solid product from the line and might be my most used one as well.ย The formula is great but I’m really not surprised because propolis usually does wonders for my dry skin.ย I think I’d be a little more okay with the price if there was 50 pads instead of 30 pads. Overall I’m very pleased with these pads and is definitely on my recommended list if you guys ever ask me any questions through Instagram/Facebook or even here!ย

How to use:
Mist an appropriate amount onto the face after you’ve come out of the shower for optimal hydration.ย Or you can use it after make up application as well as just simply using it on the go for a quick boost of moisture as well.
Product packaging:
One of the most important aspect of a facial mist has the be the nozzle.ย I can’t tell you how many times I’ve tried to use a facial mist and it just squirts straightย into my eyeballs or the nozzle doesn’t disperse the product fine enough and you’d see patches of my make up running down.ย I’m definitely happy to report that this has one of the best nozzles out in the market along with 107 oneoseven’s renewed rose water vinegar mist as well as Cosrx’s low pH PHA barrier mist.ย There is also really nice tension to the nozzle, aiding in the mist coming out nice and fine.ย ย When I am finished with this mist, I’m definitely not throwing away the bottle because the nozzle is GOLD!
Effects/ Results:
Effects aren’t super drastic but my skin definitely feels softer and hydrated.ย It doesn’t make my skin glowy or anything unfortunately but it does its job as a mist.

The mist has a super light rose fragrance that isn’t anything offensive.ย In fact, I kind of actually enjoy it and it also doesn’t linger after application.ย Smell-o-scale: 4/10 in terms of how strong the scent is.

Overall thoughts:
This one be one of the better face mists I have tried and I really do enjoy the rose scent.ย It is refreshing and not too strong which somewhat awakes me as well.ย I’m just so happy companies now are improving on the nozzle so we don’t have to deal with a stream of liquid going straight for our eyeballs.ย Overall two thumbs up but I do also wish that this was a bigger bottle but hey, it is good for on the go ;).
