Esfolio Goat Milk Skincare Line Review

Esfolio goat milk skincare reviewGoat milk, or just milk skincare in general is one of those ingredients that gets my heart pumping.  Those with dry skin would totally get me since milk products seems to do it’s job well in the hydration department while keeping my skin soft, brightened and not oily.  When Memebox started to carry a completely new brand to me called Esfolio, my eyes just shot right to the goats milk line. As of right now, Memebox is only carrying the soy milk line, goat milk line and Marin water line.  On Esfolio’s website, they also have a snail line, collagen line (it has a pig on it) and Mayu line (aka. horse oil).  Esfolio retails each item for $20 each but Memebox is selling each product for around $6-7 which is ridiculously cheap!!  Since it is such a good deal, I will tell you my experiences with this line and you can decide whether or not these are for you. Let’s get started! WHOO Ꮚˊ•⌔•ˋᏊ

Goat milk skincare esfolioThere isn’t much information I can tell you guys about the brand since it is completely in Korean and Memebox also doesn’t seem to include too many details on their site.  From what I can tell, this brand is suppose to be as natural as it can get along with it’s effort to be 6 free (Triethanolamine, Benzophenone, Paraben Sulfate, Mineral oil and Tar colour free).  I do have to point out there is a goat posing sexy for you guys on the box HAHA.

esfolio goat milk skincareI do have the whole line of the goat milk line so I thought I’d just do a three in one review.  This is gonna be a longgggg review so get some popcorn, we’re going to be here for a while.

Product packaging:
Esfolio goat milk review
Packaging of this product is very simple and straight to the point.  On the front of the bottle, there is a graphic of a goat looking all majestic on the field to remind you, hey I’m what you killed to make this product.  Too graphic?  LOL Okay no I don’t think they killed the goat since it is just goat milk but I’m hoping they treated the goat to some high end hay after they squeezed the milk out of them.  The bottle itself is clear but there is the frosted label sticker on it.  In the back, there is the ingredients list in ENGLISH! GASP.  The cap is just a normal cap with a tiny hole to dispense the right amount of product.

Texture/ Finish:
Like most toners, this goat milk toner is pretty much like water with a milky looking finish to it.  It gets absorbed into the skin quickly and doesn’t leave my skin feeling dried at all.  I wouldn’t say this toner moisturizes my skin a ton but I do feel like it did it’s job.  It also didn’t irritate my skin whatsoever which is a good sign.

Moisture level measurements:
screen-shot-2016-09-29-at-3-16-00-am
pH level:
This toner has a pH level of 5, meaning slightly acidic on the pH scale.  English translation?  It is most likely not going to react to your skin since it is has a pH level that is close to human skin.  No pimples here!

Fragrance?:
This toner has a really unique smell.  At first sniff, you’ll smell a slightly sweet milk scent with a hint of dirt, and then the goat smell hits you.  It really smells like I’m sniffing a goat’s back or something.  I mean it doesn’t smell disgusting but it is sure a smell you’d have to get used to.  Luckily the smell is very faint and doesn’t linger after application so it’s not really a problem for me.  Smell-o-scale 4/10 in terms of how strong the scent is.

Pro:
-moisturizing
-big bottle
-ridiculously cheap price
-does it’s job

Con:
slightly weird goaty smell (not a deal breaker though)

Repurchase?:
Maybe

Overall thoughts:
I didn’t have any problems with this product and it did seem to do it’s job, to tone the face.  This toner is very gentle on the skin, didn’t cause any problems for me and the weird goaty smell kind of makes me want to keep smelling it for fun.  For $6, you honestly can’t beat it. Overall this is a solid toner and I’d recommend those of you who have dry skin, try this one!

Product packaging:
Again, this has a very simple packaging with the same majestic goat imagery on the bottle.  This essence bottle is actually one of those bacteria free bottles.  It comes in an air tight bottle which uses pressure to push out the product and not a straw so no air can get in or out.  The pump itself is very easy to control and you can control how little product you’d want to dispense.

Texture/ Finish:
The texture of this essence is a lot like a gel moisturizer.  It is very light weight and absorbs into the skin relatively quickly, leaving my skin noticeably moisturized and soft.

Esfolio goat milk daily essence
img_6531Dare I say, I can even skip moisturizer during the spring and summer time if I were to just use this essence.  it is definitely moisturizing enough for that time of the year.  Those of you who don’t have dry skin, this essence could also possibly be your moisturizer as well.  I’m just scared the goat’s milk maybe too heavy for you, but this essence is really lightweight so I don’t see why not.  Then again, I don’t have oily skin so I shouldn’t speak haha.

Moisture level measurements:

pH level:
This essence has yet again a pH level of 5!  Gentle on the skin but effective :).

Fragrance?:
Okay unlike the toner, this doesn’t have that dirty goat smell.  This one smells a lot more of just sweet milk but again, doesn’t linger after application nor is the scent strong.  Smell-o-scale= 4/10 for the strength of the fragrance.

Pro:
-gentle on the skin
-super moisturizing
-absorbs into skin quickly
-pretty big bottle again!

Con:
Nothing!

Repurchase?:
Most likely

Overall thoughts:
This maybe one of the best essences I have tried by far.  I can’t say for sure if it is holy grail status just yet but this is definitely one of the most effective essences I have tried to date.  It is very light weight in texture but is super effective at the same time. This goat milk essence didn’t irritate my skin one bit and it did it’s advertised job.  Two thumbs up and I will continue using this product with confidence throughout the harsh Canadian winter weather.

Ingredients:
Water, Propanediol, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol Dicaprylate/Dicaprate, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, Behenyl Alcohol, Niacinamide, Butylene Glycol, Bees Wax, Glyceryl Stearate, Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethicone, Goat Milk Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate, Milk Protein Extract, Caulerpa Lentillifera (Sea Grape) Extract, Codium Fragile Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, PEG-100 Stearate, Cyclohexasiloxane, Stearyl Alcohol, Arachidyl Alcohol, Sorbitan Stearate, Polysorbate 60, Palmitic Acid , Stearic Acid, Ammonium Acryloyldimethyltaurate/VP Copolymer, Carbomer, Glyceryl Caprylate, Tromethamine, Tocopheryl Acetate, Ethylhexylglycerin, Cetyl Alcohol, Disodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance

How to use:
So now that you  have cleansed, toned and slathered essence all over your face, it is time for moisturizer.  Simply take the appropriate amount and massage it into your skin.

Product packaging:
I was seriously not expecting this moisturizer to be this big!  This has to be the biggest tub of moisturizer I have ever had!  it is almost the size of the Body shop’s body butters. To compare, here is my iPhone 6s.  Holy cows…..  The jar itself is again, simple design with the goat frolicking in the field.  Once you twist off the cap, there is also a protective lid to keep bacteria from entering.  When I first got this moisturizer, the cream was so thick that I even had trouble taking the protective lid out!

img_6524

Texture/ Finish:
This goat milk moisturizer was everything I thought it would be.  Wow that sounds like a classic dating line of a lovestruck girl falling in love with a guy’s picture over tinder or something HAHA.  Anyways, this moisturizer is super creamy, super thick.  The consistency kind of reminds me of L’occitane’s shea butter moisturizer but this one is slightly thicker in texture.  Once it hits the skin and you start to massage it in, it blends in easily and leaves my skin feeling protected.  It does leave a slight greasy finish, but not like glossy, I dipped my face in oil kind of greasy.  It’s more of the “I take good care and pride in my skin, let me show you how I moisturize real good”… okay I’m not making sense at this point.  Lord… help me now.  Here, pictures HAHA.
img_6532

img_6533See?  Not like the oily greasy but just enough that you can go out in the cold winter weather and back into a heated house but still feel moisturized either way.  I loveeeee me some thick moisturizers.

Moisture level measurements:
screen-shot-2016-09-29-at-3-18-40-am
Haha I don’t know how the numbers went down after I applied the cream.  I’m guessing maybe the moisturizer sealed everything in?  I have no clue…

pH level:
pH 5 baby! No irritations here.

Fragrance?:
No dirty goat here, just sweet milk scent.  Smell-o-scale=4/10

Pro:
-super thick but gets absorbs easily
-protects the skin well
-super moisturizing

Con:
Nothing!

Repurchase?:
YES!

Overall thoughts:
Everything is just right about this moisturizer.  The texture/ consistency is exactly what I was looking for, along with the added bonus that it has goat’s milk in it and it comes in a ridiculously gigantic bottle.  Heck, I’d even pay full retail price for it.  I mean for $20, you can’t really complain and plus, you have 3 years to use it up.  I’d even use this as a body cream if I can’t finish it up on time.  Overall this moisturizer is definitely holy grail status for me and my dry skin.  I can finally go through this year’s winter with confidence that my dry skin won’t be bothering me for the next 9 months.  WHOO!

I don’t mean to be that person, but pH 7 is neutral, and pH 5 is acidic, which is ideal for the skin’s acid mantle.

    1. Christina

No worries, definitely not mean at all. I just didn’t pay attention during science class HAHA. Thank you for the heads up and I will change it 🙂

  2. berit

The cream sounds ideal for winter but I am not so sure about the toner with its high alcohol content. Maybe that’s what sucked out the moisture afterwards? 😀

    1. Christina

Naw I think the cream and serums all settled afterwards. My skin doesn’t feel dry whatsoever. I’m also not too sure if this is true or not, but the way the ingredients is listed compared to North America is different. They aren’t required to list it according to the quantity that is used in the product.

      1. berit

Ohhh well that would be interesting, I thought listing ingredients by what’s used most is a worldwide standard.

        1. Christina

I know, that’s what I thought as well but I guess that is no the case!

  3. Preetiz Angulo

Hi! did you have any issues with the toner having denatured alcohol? Is it still moisturizing? 🙂

    1. Lisa

It didn’t seem to bother me and I used up more than 75% of the bottle by now. It did felt like I had to put the next step soon because it felt like my skin sucked it up that fast.

  4. chii

Hi, what device did you use to measure your skin’s moisture and oil?

    1. Christina

Its nothing fancy, just one of those hand held ones. If you look up “moisture device tool” on ebay, it should so up :). Its about $10-15 or so. I don’t know how accurate it is, but it gives me a piece of mind haha
