I think I’ve been bitten by the highlighting bug because lately, I’ve been really indulging in the highlighting bandwagon.ย Powder highlights, cream highlights, glowy bases, you name it! So when I was freaking out that Etude house finally came out with a serum version of the double lasting foundation, I got a little too excited and also got the shimmer glam base that came out at the same time.ย I’ve actually tried Etude House’s glow on oil volume base and still use it to this day and enjoy it but not really love it.ย I also really wanted to see if this shimmery base would be comparable to my new love, VDL lumilayer primer.ย Let’s get into it.

How to use:
Lightly shake before use.ย After basic skincare routine and before application of the base makeup, apply onto the face on either area of the face to highlight or the whole face if desired.ย You can also use it on top of your base make up for an extra glowy effect.
Packaging:
The packaging is exactly the same as the other two bases in the line but this one has a shimmery bottle and rose gold detailing for the pump.ย The pump itself is easily controllable so no need to worry about pumping too much out.
Color/ Pigmentation:
This shimmer base has a white base to it with very fine light pink shimmers as well as larger gold shimmers.ย When you first apply it onto the skin, it looks like it would be super intense but as the product absorbs into the skin, the vibrancy of the fine pink shimmers die down to almost nothing and you get a very natural looking highlight with flecks of the gold shimmers peeking through.ย
On a camera with all the lights, the shimmery finish looks way more apparent but it isn’t as stark in person.
Okay, time to try this one.
Texture/ Finish:
With one layer, there is a very subtle sheen finish but when you move your face side to side, you can definitely see the gold shimmers.ย If you are using it underneath your foundation, you’ll pretty much not get any glow going on and I also don’t find my foundation staying on longer.ย They also mentioned that this primer moisturize the skin as well and I also don’t find that to be the case.ย If you want something to hydrate your face, check out J.one jelly pack if you want a foolproof base or even Etude House’s glow on oil volume for a light touch of hydration that actually does something for the face.
After absorption, can you even tell the difference haha…

-blends into the skin effortlessly
-would be great for those who don’t need much hydration but a slight glow

-absorbs into the skin to almost nothing
-not a fan of the larger gold shimmers

Overall thoughts:
I don’t think this is a horrible product but trying so much makeup in my years of being an addict that Iย don’t see anything special about this one.ย If you really want to achieve that glowy base that will give you that punch of light like your a UFO while still looking natural if you want, I’d highly recommend the VDL lumilayer primer that I’ve bee obsessed with lately.ย Underneath or on top of your foundation, both ways it works wonders and can definitely see why it is one of their best selling items.ย I’d give this product a passing grade but a pass for me.
