Have you been questioning what LED light therapy mask is the best in the market? Look no further! I’ve tried a couple of LED light therapy devices in my lifetime and I have to say, this FAQ 202 LED face mask is one of the best so far.ย If you don’t know the brand FAQ, they are somewhat new although they’ve been around for about 2 to 3 years now.ย They are the higher-end, more professional sister of Foreo (which you know is a company I love and trust).ย This might be one of the most expensive devices in my collection, so let’s see if it is the right device for all your LED light therapy needs!

What is LED therapy?
LED (aka. light-emitting diode) light therapy is a non-invasive treatment that utilizes different wavelengths to target skin concerns.ย This was popularized by NASA, who studied using red light therapy to help promote wound healing for astronauts.ย Nowadays, you can find LED therapy treatments at your dermatology and esthetician offices to target concerns like eczema, hair loss, acne, psoriasis, rosacea, sun damage, and wrinkles to name a few things.
Is LED therapy safe?ย Are there any risks?
Yes, LED therapy is safe to use since it does not contain the use of ultraviolet rays. The risk of using a light therapy device at home is relatively low to no risk at all. It is advised to wear eye protection while using light therapy devices.ย Those who are taking certain medications that increase your sensitivity to sunlight (ex: isotretinoin, lithium), have a family history of skin cancer, or inherited eye diseases are advised to stay away from LED face masks.
How often can you use a LED face mask?
It is advised to use a LED light therapy mask 3 to 5 times a week, 5-15 minutes per day.ย Of course, this measurement is only for at-home LED light therapy treatments, which are less strong compared to your esthetician/ dermatologist’s office.
Does LED light therapy actually work?
There are published research papers that state that LEd light therapy can help reduce and improve the skin’s condition and issues.ย In-office LED light therapy is more powerful compared to at-home devices.ย Finding a reputable skincare device company is another point you should consider since there was a whole scandal a couple of years back involving some big Korean celebrities and Korean influencers who all were promoting a LED mask that the Korean government had to come out and tell the public it doesn’t do anything.ย Not only did it not do anything it claimed, it also cost $2,000.
How long until I see results using LED light therapy?
Using a light therapy device at home is not for the faint of heart.ย To see results, you will have to be dedicated to using it 3-5 times a week for one or more months.ย Keep in mind, skincare, in general, is not a sprint, it is a marathon.ย This will be (I say hopefully) an investment for yourself in the future.
How to use:
Firstly, make sure to download the FAQ Swiss app and connect it to your device to register.ย If you don’t do this step, the device will not turn on.ย After you have cleansed and dried your face, apply the FAQ primer, or your favorite skincare products.ย Place the FAQ over your face and fasten the head straps to fit.ย Please hold the button to turn it on.ย Using the app, you can choose to use the pre-made treatment routines or customize your own treatment.
Warnings:
-Do not use on wound ulceration, trauma, or post-operative wounds.
-Do not use if you have light-sensitivity or sunburnt or inflamed skin.
-Do not stare directly at the LED lights.
-Recommended to not share for hygiene reasons.
-Do not use the device while charging. Ensure sockets are completely dry before charging.
-Advised not to use FAQ LED mask for more than 15 minutes at a time.
Battery/ power on:
If your mask blinks red 3 times, that means it is low on battery.ย Proceed to charge your device for up to 2 hours for a full charge.ย If it flashes blue, that means it is in Bluetooth pairing mode and ready to connect to your app.ย I personally found one full charge lasts me a whole week.
How to clean:
Clean your mask after every use by using the FAQ silicone cleaning spray provided.ย Use a lint-free cloth or towel to wipe down with warm water and wipe off the remaining residue.
*NOTE: DO NOT use cleaning products such as alcohol, petrol, or acetone, since they will damage the silicone and irritate the skin.*
Product packaging:
To my surprise, the FAQ 202 LED face mask came in quite a big box.ย Then again, it is a whole face mask, so why am I really surprised?
The grand reveal!! Drumroll please~
When I first got it, there wasn’t information on the mask just yet. I was very surprised the mask itself was a flexible silicone.ย The light source also wasn’t built into each little dot!ย The light is emitted through the eye area and the indentsย
Contents inside the box:
–FAQ 202 LED face mask
-FAQ silicone cleaning spray
-Display case (the face)
-USB charging cable
-instructions on downloading the app
For the charging cable, it is one of those universal USB charging cables which is nice so I don’t have to worry about finding an adapter.ย If you own other Foreo devices, this is the same cable!ย You definitely won’t lose this cable since you’ll need to use it once a week instead of the occasional charge from Foreo’s amazingly long-lasting battery.
The strap is a frosted matte silicone material that is very comfortable when on your head.ย Sadly, it does attract dirt and oils easily which is somewhat frustrating.ย I personally don’t take out the strap every time I use it. I have it buckled in but loosened and I slip it over my head.ย This way, I don’t have to bother hooking it and unhooking it.
The first thing I observed with a different design from what I’ve seen in other LED masks.ย Other LED masks are an Iron Man looking like, plastic masks or helmets you have to cover your face with.ย I’ve always felt super claustrophobic with it on and with my deviated septum, it makes it hard for me to breathe.ย You’re usually laying down, face up with the mask, breathing heavily, and making everything sweaty and moist.ย Is it a pleasant time? No, but you do it for the sake of your face not looking like a dried-up raisin down the line.
What I like about this FAQ 202 LED mask is that the silicone molds to my face easily and it is very breathable.ย The little indents are holes, which makes the whole process less sweaty and moist too!
The eye cut-out is also quite large, and with the light emitting from the center, you aren’t staring into brightness for 15 minutes a day.ย The other LED light therapy mask I tried before was so bright and I couldn’t wear sunglasses with it either.ย It was like seeing bright red hell every day even with my eyes closed.ย I have to say, the overall experience makes me not want to come back for more.
I find it a bit odd the power housing is in the center of the head.ย Although I feel a bit like Sailor Moon with her crown on her forehead, I guess there really isn’t anywhere else to place it eh?ย This FAQ 202 LED face mask is also wireless, which differentiates from a lot of other light therapy devices which you have to sit near a power source and keep yourself plugged in throughout your treatment.
And to charge your device, simply plug in your cable in the back of the Sailor Moon crown and you are goo to go!
FAQ 202 LED light therapy app interface:
If you are familiar with Foreo devices, this interface will look very familiar to you.ย You will have to download the app for the device to start up.ย Once you got it registered, you can play around with the app to use the treatments already made for you or customize it.ย If you don’t want to wipe your phone out every time you use the device, you can just turn it on and change the different LED lights by tapping the button once to rotate to the desired LED light.
If you do want to play around with the settings, you can easily jump to the color desired, turn on/ off NIR, change the light intensity and set a timer.
LED light therapy colors and functions:
Turning on the device, the light shines bright enough for it to reach the top of your forehead to the tip of your chin.ย I do appreciate that my eyes don’t get fatigued after each treatment, making me want to use the device again.ย The FAQ 202 LEd mask spreads light evenly using 600 optimized points of light to ensure an even coverage for the LED wavelength to penetrate the skin.
Red LED: diminishes signs of aging on the skin
Green LED: brightens dullness and evens skin tone
Blue LED: reduces blemishes and oiliness
Purple: targets inflammation and fine linesCyan LED: calms and relieves stressed skin
Yellow LED: reduces redness and soothes skin
Orange LED: revitalizes for a healthy glow
NIR (always on with other LEDs, ex: red): Improves fine lines, sun spots, wrinkles, and sagging
NIR can be used simultaneously with other light colors
Treatment routines:
There are two built-in treatment routines, anti-wrinkle which uses red, purple, and orange LED lights, and quick refresh which uses red, yellow, and orange and lasts 5 minutes.ย I personally like the anti-wrinkle one since it is longer and just an easy go-to.ย If I’m already going to dedicate my time to using this mask, I’m already in the mindset to do a 15-minute routine.
Now for the fun part!ย Trying it on for you guys.ย Please ignore the pimple on the chin.ย It was the worst pimple I’ve ever had, bleeding twice profusely and now it is FINALLY dying down after three weeks.ย What pimple brews for three whole weeks?ย Not only that, it pulled a fast one on me when it seemed to be dying away on its own.ย I then woke up to it super angry and wanted to explode. UGH.ย Rude…
And yes, every time I put it on, I’m smashing my face into it.ย Is it the best method? No, no it isn’t but I’m lazy.
And here is what it looks like.ย When I first used this mask, I was thinking why is the eye area so big? I want the light therapy to hit my undereye area to treat it too.ย After using it for a while and for the light to not be blasting in my eyes for 15 minutes a day, I kind of like it this way.
Side view of the mask.ย This is definitely the most comfortable LED mask I’ve tried.ย Props to the FAQ Swiss team!!ย Because it is so lightweight as well, it doesn’t slip off my face either!
Turning my go-to routine on with my phone.
I’ve personally been using it for a month now and I know what you are already thinking.ย Any drastic results?ย I’m going to have to honestly say no, not yet.ย Keyword YET. This type of treatment takes a lot of religious use and a couple of months to see effects, so please be patient.ย I will try my best and update this post couple of months later to show you guys!
Pro:
-super comfortable silicone
-doesn’t slip off the face
-breathable
-eye area protected from light
-8 LED treatments to choose from
Con:
-easily attracts fingerprints and dust
-silicone hard to clean
-awkward to store
Repurchase?:
Yes, but depends on what your lifestyle is like.

Overall thoughts:
This is definitely the most enjoyable light therapy mask I’ve tried by far.ย It is straightforward to use, light, breathable, and cordless.ย The only things I would complain about is the awkward shape and size of the mask and how storing it in my bathroom with limited space is a bit of a headache.ย Ideally, I wanted to store it in my washroom cabinet with all my other devices, but the silicone is flimsy.ย I wouldn’t be able to fit the scary head that it comes with either.
On top of that, the silicone is hard to clean. I have been using the spray provided to clean it after every use and I’ve even used a microfiber cloth to wipe it down with water.ย After all of that, there still is a bit of skincare build-up that needs to be addressed and the tiny dents make it impossible to cleanly wipe everything with one motion.ย I think I might have to go in with a very soft toothbrush to clean it up a bit but do it carefully since this device is not waterproof.
Overall I do find the mask to be enjoyable to use and very comfortable on the face.ย This device might not be for everyone, however, if you are a big skincare fanatic looking for a LED light therapy mask, this is definitely the best LED face mask out there currently on the market.

Hi Christina, have you any progress and updated pics since this post on 7th June?
Can you see any difference and would you still recommend the mask?
I haven’t seen major changes, but at the same time I haven’t been using it religiously. I will get back on using it more religiously and update this post later on :). Stay tuned~
OMG!! This is the kind of review I was looking for!! Very detailed and easy to follow with pictures. Thank you, Christina!
I’m glad you were able to come across my review! The compliment means a lot <3. Hope you find the rest of my reviews on this website helpful~

Hi Christina!
Was wondering since its been a while, would you still recommend this mask?
Thanks!
Yep! I still love this device to this day. I don’t use it only to do quick sheet masks, but more so for the cryotherapy and thermo functions as well :). Hope that helps!
Hi Christina,
Thank you for your review! After almost a year, do you still recommend the mask?, I am concerned the diodes are not in the silicon mask but catching up the light from the real diodes in the eye frames, I think this is making it less efficient if not useless.
