Cleansing oil has always been a favorite part of my skincare routine because it is the easiest way to break down makeup.ย Now if using cleansing oil as a makeup remover is new to you, there is something called “double cleansing” which consists of using a cleansing oil, balm, or gel as your first step, and applying it on your dry face with a full face of makeup.ย This helps you break down absolutely everything, from lipstick to waterproof mascara, this is your one-stop-shop.ย Not only is cleansing oils easy to use, but it is also more eco-friendly since you aren’t throwing away make up wipes every day into the trash.ย On top of all that, it is way more gentle around your eye area since you aren’t rubbing and tugging like how you would with a makeup wipe.ย I have been testing out cleansing oils, balms, and gels for the past five years, but I never have tried one from J-beauty.ย With the help of my friends at Glowieco, they curated couple products for me to try and sent over this Shiseido Tiss Deep off face cleansing oil to try so let’s get into the review!
P.S if you guys are looking into getting some J-beauty or Taiwanese products, Glowieco is the place to go!ย And for 10% off with my code CHRISTINAHELLO (affiliated), you can’t beat it ;).ย Free US shipping over $25 too!

How to use:
With a dry face, apply this straight onto your face full of makeup or even just skincare and sunscreen, and massage all throughout your face.ย For your eye area, place your fingers over your eyes and lashes and allow the cleansing oil to soak and proceed to gently massage outwards.ย Once everything has broken down, moisten your hands with water and massage again.ย The cleansing oil will emulsify into an milky texture and then rinse off.ย Continue on with cleanser and your usual skincare routine.
Product packaging:
I’ve noticed Japanese cosmetics packaging to be all about the same, it is always non-gimmicky and very basic packaging.ย After being in the K-beauty world for so long, I can’t help but find the packaging boring and uninteresting.ย This Tiss cleansing oil comes in a simple bright yellow-orange bottle with a pump.ย I get so confused thinking the brand is Tiss, but it is actually Shiseido behind this product.ย Then again, Shiseido is like Amorepacific in Japan, with tons of sub-brands and more affordable options.ย Not much to write about the packaging but I do like that there is a pump!
Texture/ Finish:
Just like how Annie told me, this cleansing oil is very lightweight but doesn’t strip the skin.ย I know some of you guys are already freaking out, reading that mineral oil is the first ingredient of this product and screaming like a chicken.ย Before you do, think of it like this.ย This cleansing oil’s only function is to break down your make up and then is going to wash away.ย For someone like me with super dry skin, the mineral oil somewhat keeps my skin from getting drier.ย However, it is washing off and not really staying on my skin.ย I might be playing devil’s advocate, but that’s just my thoughts.ย That and it has never irritated my skin, so I don’t really have a problem with it.
Anyways, here is some foundation, lipstick, cream blush and waterproof mascara (Heroine make’s to be exact).ย Now if you have tried Heroine make’s super waterproof mascara before, you’ll know how much of a b*tch it is to remove.ย This cleansing oil does a perfect job at breaking it down, although it does take a couple more tries to get it off.
Effects/ Results:
With little effect, the foundation, lipstick and cream blush came off like a dream but the mascara took a bit more effort since it is superrrrrrrr waterproof.ย I’d say, it took about an extra 4 rubs or so?
Once you’ve massaged away all your make up, moisten your hands with water and massage once more.ย This will make the oil into this milky looking texture and wash off easily afterward.
Now if that wasn’t clear enough for you, let’s try it on a full face of make up.ย Please enjoy my Dumbo ears I got in Tokyo Disneysea.ย I’m still kicking myself for not getting the Winnie the Pooh version argh!!
This might be a “light” face of makeup for those who are used to the whole Instagram makeup look, but I’m not one to like to cake my face.ย I got eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara, BB cushion, cream contour, cream blush, and highlight as well as a lip tint on.
Please be careful of your eye area and not rub the shit out of it!
Before (right) and after (left).ย For my waterline, I like to go in it with a Q tip since I don’t like cleansing oil in my eyeballs. It makes my vision all foggy for a good 30 minutes and some products sting my eyes too.ย This cleansing oil does not sting my eyes luckily!
Fresh and clean!ย I don’t think that is a nose boogie, I think it’s just water ;P.

Overall thoughts:
I think this is a solid cleansing oil that does not strip my skin and does a great job and what it was marketed for.ย This is a no-gimmick product with minimal ingredients and no fragrance added.ย Overall I think this is a solid product and I think it has beat my old favorite Etude House cleansing oil, which was a thick cleansing oil but I liked it for its moisturizing abilities.ย For $13, you really can’t beat it. You can also get 10% off with my code CHRISTINAHELLO (affiliated code which saves you money and gives me a small percentage).ย Happy shopping!
