Okay, so obviously I am not a man LOL, if that wasn’t obvious enough. I actually got my boyfriend to test out the Foreo Luna 3 for men!  I legit had to hold an invisible knife and made him sign a blood contract before agreeing for it to be sent to us as a PR sample.  There doesn’t seem to be many blog posts on men’s skincare, so I’m going to have to slowly change that :D.  Please bear with me on this review since my boyfriend is a man of few words.  I had to slowly extract information and experiences from this man, slowly and painlessly for him but so painful for me.

When I was first introduced to the Foreo Luna 3, I naively thought I could share the device with my boyfriend.  Firstly I don’t think he would reach for my bright pink device as much as a black manly looking one, you know… black to keep his manhood intact. But then again, you really shouldn’t be sharing a cleansing device since it would kind of be like sharing used toilet paper.  Just… don’t do it.

Male skin is approximately 20% thicker the female skin and contains more collagen, tighter, and firmer (that’s not fair!).  As we age, men’s collagen decreases gradually while female’s collagen levels take a big dip downwards in the 50’s range.

Men also have more active sebaceous glands, aka. more pores and larger pore sizes compared to females.  Their sebum levels are double and are usually oilier and shinier with a lower pH level compared to a female, hence it being prone to impurities and acne.  Since men have to shave their beards, the skin around the jawline and mouth can cause irritation, sensitivity, and ingrown hairs.

I actually didn’t know this, but moisturizers and skincare products should be lighter in texture, nothing too rich or greasy as it might not sit well with their sensitive skin and higher oil levels.  Guess I should have listened to my boy when he said he doesn’t like thick creams.  But then again, he’s got pretty dry skin around his cheek area :S.  For the time being, he’s been loving the Tony Moly mochi ceramide toner along with Foreo’s serum serum serum as his whole moisturizing routine.

When you first get your device, you have to register it for it to turn on and work.  You do not have to use your app every single time you use it.  Inside your homepage, you’ll see a question mark, which is a simple overview on how to use the device, a live chat if you have any questions are a concern and find my Foreo, which is just like find my iPhone.  It connects to your device with Bluetooth and turns it on for you so you can locate your device if you misplace it.

Once you turn on your device and press start, you are able to adjust your T-sonic intensity from 1-16.  Below are two settings, cleansing for 1 minute and a massage setting which takes you to step by step on what to do.  To be honest, I don’t think I was able to convince him to do the massage setting since I got him to test out the Foreo BEAR microcurrent device.  He was already complaining about how long it takes and how he has to do it everyday.  Now you know how females feel but we take on ten times more tasks!!  Shesh…

I definitely love the app and all its tutorials.  For someone like my boyfriend who thinks body wash is an option, this helps.. a lot.  I can believe it only took Foreo Luna device to get him to cleanse his face PROPERLY, not just splashing water on his face.  I would have bought it for him a long time ago if I knew it only took a sleek device to convince him. Don’t worry, he actually doesn’t have body odor but still, bro, use some body wash.

Exhibit A, modern 21 ceuntry cave man.  Here in his natural habitat, his beard has grown out in a week.  This is already somewhat impressive for an Asian man who usually are sleek as a hairless dolphin.  He does get ingrown hairs at a time and usually habits on the sides of his beard.

Here are the beautiful black Foreo Luna men 3.  Compared to the previous generation, the bristles are 30% longer and softer, something that instantly attracted the caveman to use this on a regular. 

The back has the same wave pattern as the Foreo Luna 3, which you are supposed to use it as a massager to drain your lymph nodes.  This would be the same concept as using the Gua sha method, just with a pulsating function and very nice soft silicone.

Battery life:
It is said the battery lasts up to 650 uses, which I definitely can attest to.  Since I got it two months ago, I haven’t had to charge it yet and I don’t feel like I’m going to have until 2022!  You’ll know if your device is turned on when you see the light flash at the bottom and your device starts to T-sonic away!

I actually tried the Luna 3 men out of curiosity and laziness when I was in the shower and was too lazy to brave to cold to get my Luna on the counter.  The bristles are much thicker and not as enjoyable on my delicate female skin, but he loves this baby and actually looks forward to using it.  For some reason, he didn’t think to put it in the shower, and washing his face at the sink felt like a chore for him.  I just asked him, “Why don’t you just leave it in the shower.  You know it is 100% waterproof right?”  And that was the day where everything changed for him haha. Eureka moment happened!

The only thing I’m going to nit pick about the black color is the fact that you can see the water stains.  You can easily wipe it off, but it just looks a little messy if you were to have it on your vanity.  This baby lives in the shower anyway, so it isn’t a big deal but I thought I would point it out for those who are wondering.

As for his blackheads, I had him do an experiment where I cleaned out all his blackheads with a cleansing oil, exfoliating his nose, and then using a nose strip to clear everything out.  Nose strips are definitely not my preferred way of extraction, but he can’t handle a manual extraction with the metal tool, so unfortunately it was the only way.  I did notice his blackheads reduced significantly and took way longer for it to come back!

If this means I can get him to clean his skin properly and promote him to moisturize, I’ll buy every device in the store if I have to!

Overall thoughts:
He was very impressed with the Foreo Luna 3 men.  Whether it is the sleek black color to the soft bristles, he plans to use this every day and now enjoys cleaning his skin properly.  I’ve definitely noticed a healthier glow to his skin thanks to the device as well as using Foreo’s serum serum serum, his one-stop shop to avoid using moisturizer haha.  Overall I give this device a two thumbs up as the girlfriend and in my man’s words, “I like it.  It’s nice.”
Me: “Sweetie, I need more information than that.  How do you like the bristles, the technology, the feel?”
Him: “It is all nice.  Soft bristles, easy to use.  Interview over?”
Me: *palm slap*
