Holika Holika Gudetama lazy and easy cupcake eye palette Review + Swatches

Oh yes, you know I had to get myself some Gudetama stuff when they came out with a second part to their Gudetama collaboration.  I almost lost my shit when I saw that they came out with a second part to the already large Gudetama collection.  I was absolutely taken with the packaging, so I just mindlessly bought some stuff keke.  I mean there was a make up sponge with Gudetama’s face, can you blame me?  One of the products I picked up was the eyeshadow palette in the truffle version.  With no exceptions, I went into it blindly.  Let’s see how this one will go :).

Product packaging:
Packaging is SO DAMN CUTE.  Although it is quite standard, I think the graphics on the outside and the inside just makes it for me.  When you first get it, this just comes as is with a seal sticker.  The palette isn’t that big, measuring at 6.3 cm x 6.5 cm while the pans inside measure 2 cm x 2.5 cm.  This compact closes by just the regular click clasp on the front.  Depending on which version you got for the palette, gudetama has different toppings!  The one I got, which is #1 red velvet, has a strawberry while #2 tiramisu has chocolate for toppings.

The sticker on the back has the usual information.  Nothing really special here.

Opening up, you’ll get a plastic cover with Gudetama graphics.  You best believe I’m never throwing this away haha.  There is also a nice sized which is a nice bonus.  If you look closely, Gudetama’s face is on the bottom left shade.  HEHE it can’t get any better then that.

Color/ Pigmentation +Texture and finish:
I honestly don’t know why I didn’t use this palette sooner.  I pretty much only bought it because I wanted the free Gudetama pouch LOL. If you want to see that haul, click here. I kind of forgot about it, left it in the box for months before I finally decided to take it out and use it.  To the touch, I already tell it was going to be one of the best eyeshadow palettes from K-beauty.  It’s silky, smooth, pigmented, and buttery, everything I’ve been wanting to see from K-beauty.  It’s like my prayers were answered that day.

Pigmentation-wise, with just one swipe, BAM.  Full power.  I mean you don’t even need primer!  Well, I usually like to use primer for better-staying power but these eyeshadows are so pigmented, with or without primer it still looks the same.  Since I choose the more reddish palette, I got a light matte beige brown shade on the top left, a densely packed rose gold bronze shade with dense purple, gold, and hints of green shimmers, a burnt orangy cranberry shade on the bottom left and a dark bronzy brown shade.

The four shades were mindfully picked and I really love how there are half matte shades and half shimmer/ glittery shades.  The light brown shade makes it easy to blend the colors together and I love it all over the lid.  It kind of reminds me of the Mac’s cork eyeshadow.  The burnt orangy cranberry shade is a great accent color and works great during the fall or even a light wash of it all over the lids for the summertime.  The glittery shade is so packed with glitter, it almost makes that wet look on the lid, which is something I LOVEEE.  I usually don’t like glitter since it sticks to everything and is a pain in the butt to remove, but those that are super dense in fine glitter is my cup of tea.  And the last shade is the dark bronze brown shade, which is a great contouring shade.  Perfect combo.

No primer, one swipe.  I think I just said it all.  Not only are the shimmery shades pigmented, the matte shades are also holding up their own.

Sorry if I didn’t do the palette justice with this look.  I like to do more realistic looks I’d actually wear out the door with.  I used all the shades in the palette starting with the lightest all over the lid, then the cranberry shade on the bottom left to get that reddish warmth, the darkest brown shade on the contours and dabbed a bit of the glitter shade on the center of my eyelid.

Lasting power:
I had no problemo with the lasting power with these eyeshadows.  I did use a primer underneath and for reference, I don’t have oily eyelids.  It faded ever so slightly but other than that, no major issues with 8+ hours of wear.

No scent.

-super pigmented
-silky in texture

-limited edition!!

Yes, I would if they come out with more palettes with this formula in the future.

Overall thoughts:
I think it’s safe to say, this is my holy grail eyeshadow palette.  Off the top of my head, I can’t think of any other eyeshadow palette that I like as much as this one.  Selection of textures is on point, color selection is on point, pigmentation is on point, GUDETAMA IS ON POINT.  Everything is perfect about this eyeshadow palette.  It’s also slim and small enough to travel with, what more can you ask for?  Now I’m really interested to see if the rest of Holika Holika’s eyeshadows are any good because if it is anything similar to this one, I’m downnnnn!  Easily, EASILY I give this eyeshadow palette a stamp of approval.  Run and get it.  RUN because you don’t know when they are going to discontinue this.
