Marc Jacobs on the dot liquid lip crayon collection review & swatches

Wow holidays are so over but I actually was meaning to post this during the holidays but some personal stuff popped up unfortunately.  Not going to get too into it since I showed what it was on my Instagram stories but anyways.  I surprisingly got two products in the mail as PR gifts and they were Marc Jacobs!!  Now I am familiar with the brand but only have their eyeshadows, so it was a really nice surprise to be able to try out more products from the brand.  I received this three piece holiday lip pencil (that is now on sale for $12.50 USD) and was super impressed with the pigmentation.  So let’s get into the fun part, swatching!

How to use:
Glide the pencils onto the lips for a full lip effect!  Make sure to close the lid tightly to avoid drying.

Product packaging:
Packaging for Marc Jacobs is always very sleek, beautiful and high end.  These mini lip pencils are no exception with its sleek black glossy finish and a corresponding color coding on the front of the packaging for each shade.

I love pencils here I don’t have to sharpen since sharpening just wastes a lot of product.  To push the lip pencils up, all you have to do is twist the bottom and voila!

Colour/ pigmentation:
The pigmentation for these lip pencils are top notch and I expect nothing less from the brand.  I’m actually really impressed with the shade range from this mini collection where you got a bit of every world, red, nude/ mauve and a purple berry shade.

Red-y to go: Cool tone slight blue undertone red

This is the only limited edition shade in the set and quite frankly, I don’t see anything too special with this red.  It looks it a lot of other reds I have tried but the formula is really buttery smooth and pigmented so I do see the appeal.  When I apply lip products on, I usually am able to apply it straight from the tube but because the pencil is rounded tip, it found it slightly more challenging to get those nice crisp lines.

Night mauve: Mauve pink with fine sliver metallic finish

When I first swatched this shade on the back of my hand, I thought this was just another mauve pink shade but it looked completely different once it was applied to the lips!  This is one of the most unique nude shades I own to date and the fine metallic sliver finish makes my lips look even more plump.  Sometimes when I’m not in the mood, the metallic finish is a bit much so I just put it on the center of my lip and OH it looks SO pretty!  This is one shade that I would actually repurchase when I am done with it.

Plum N Get It: Deep purple fuchsia with fine purple and pink shimmers, slight metallic finish

Plum N get it is another super unique shade.  At first glance, it looks like generic berry shade but the fine purple and pink shimmers gives it another dimension.  I really love the tone of this shade and is one that actually suits my yellow undertone!  I’ll definitely try to rock this with a look one day ;).

Texture/ Finish:
On the website, they describe these pencils as “creamy crayons melt into lips with a lightweight liquid sensation” and I definitely have to say this is so true.  These lip pencils melt onto the lips effortlessly and they are so so SO pigmented, it is almost like a dream applying these.  These don’t stain the lips and will transfer, so beware with kissing boy ;).

Lasting power:
Like how I mentioned up above, these lip pencils don’t have a matte finish nor does it stain the lips, so it does transfer.  Because they are so buttery, if you accidentally swipe ur lips, your going to look like Joker.  On average, this lasts on my lips for 4+ hours before it faints or I need t reapply.

Fragrance?:
All three of them have a light vanilla fragrance but nothing super strong and scent fades after application.  Smell-o-scale: 4/10 in terms of how strong the scent is.

Pro:
-super pigmented
-buttery smooth
-decent shade range

Con:
-rounded tip= not able to get the most crisp line

Repurchase?:

Overall thoughts:
I’m not surprise that I’m blown away with the quality of these liquid lip crayons from Marc Jacobs to be honest.  What was surprising to me is the two shades having a slight metallic finish!  That was such a nice surprise and set the shades apart from all the other colours I have in my collection.  $26 for the full size product, I’d be happy to pay it and I’d love to explore the rest of the shades from the line.  Overall, three thumbs up and highly recommend for you guys to check out these lip pencils or even this set that is on sale right now!Product gifted by Marc Jacobs.  Not sponsored
