Memebox I’m stick shadow Review + Swatch

Other then BB cushions, eyeshadows and anything related to eye make up, I’m all for it.  One of my most favourite products is color bases or shadow bases.  Of course when Memebox came out with stick shadows, HELLO!  These were all over the Korean blogs and I already fell in love with the swatches.  I got the change to review these for you guys so here we go!  You know the drill (ﾉ≧∀≦)ﾉ.

Product packaging:
These come in a very straight forward chubby stick packaging with a twist up function.  Just like all their other I’m Meme products, this has the “I’m stick shadow” printed on the black plastic pencil and the bottom is coloured to correspond to the actual shade.  I’m quite impressed they got the twist up part the EXACT same color as the actual product.  A lot of times products would have a color differentiating system somewhere on the outside of the packaging but the color is no where close to the actual product, so Memebox did a great job corresponding.How to use:
You can either use these alone for a quick and easy eyeshadow look or as an eyeshadow base.  All you have to do is apply some to your eye and blend it out with your fingers.  If you are going to use these alone, make sure to blend quickly because they do set really fast (about 30 seconds).

Color/ Pigmentation:
I’m honestly shocked at how pigmented these are.  With just one effortless swipe on the eye, these transfer onto the skin with no effort at all.  The three shades I choose all translated onto my skin true to what is in the stick.

Ash stone is a cool toned grayish bronze shade with fine gold and bronze shimmers.  The finish it gives is a very reflective shimmery look if not blended.  If you blend it out, it gives the skin a nice sheer grayish bronze color with specks of fine shimmers.  Gorgeous for everyday wear, especially during the fall.  This would also be a very easy smokey eye look if you were to just use this alone blended out with your fingers.

The second shade I got was in the color Spinel which is a cool tone dark muted cranberry shade with fine teal and cranberry shimmers.  Although on the site it says it is a “Mauvy amethyst shimmer”, I can’t agree to that since in person, it is more of a dark cranberry shade.  I like to classify these shades as a “dragon scale” shade in my book because of the slight duo chrome finish it gives.  This shade also reminds me of the very unique duo chrome shade in Wet n Wild’s comfort zone palette (the one on the bottom right).  It is not the same color, it just reminds me of it.  This Spinel shade is another great color for the fall time and also another color I’d use on its own for a simple eye look.  I think out of the six shades they offer, this one is the most unique and I don’t have anything like it in my collection.

Of course I had to choose a beige champagne like color for highlighting and also to test out the different range of colors this line has to offer.  Milky way is a warm toned peachy champagne shade with fine peach, pink and gold shimmers.  Out of the three I choose, this one is the least shimmery and more on the metallic side.  This shade is great to highlight, not just onto the eyes but even on the face if you like a strong highlighter.

Like I said before, these go on the skin very true to what is in the tube. 

Blended out, they are just as gorgeous, if not better!

I’d love to see Memebox use the same formula but come out with a matte line.  Even in the Western cosmetic world, there are not enough good matte eyeshadow bases so I’d love to see Memebox take the first step and change the game.  I’d also love to see them venture out to more unique shades like bright teals or even a whole duo chrome line where the stick looks white but when you apply it over dark shades like black, they appear into a shimmer pink!  THAT WOULD BE AWESOME and KNOCK MY SOCKS OFF :OOO.  No one has done that so far.  Please Memebox, take my idea and roll with it!  Just make sure to give me some credit mmkay? Keke (￣ω￣)

Texture/ Finish:
Although this is not stated on the website description, I feel like these are in a gel formula.  I have had very good luck with all Korean eyeliners from brands like Holika Holika, Etude House and even Memebox and the reason is that they are all a gel formula which does not budge after it is set.  These stick shadows are no exception and because of that, they offer a creamy formula but also very long lasting.  These really reminds me of Maybelline’s color tattoos which have been very popular in the beauty world and for good reason.  In my opinion, I do like Memebox’s slightly better because I don’t have to use my fingers to apply from the pot into my eyelid since it comes in a stick form which gives me more precision.  I also feel that these are slightly creamier then Maybelline’s as well.

For me on my lids, it lasted all day with no creasing.  It did fade about 20% but that is a given without primer.  With a primer, it lasted all day no problem.  I’m not sure if it would be the same for oily skin people or if you have oil lids, but you could always use a primer underneath.  Without any effort, these glided onto my skin with one swipe and appeared very true to color.  If you wanted to blend these out, you better do it within the 30 seconds or less.  When it sets, it is almost budge proof.  If you were to try and blend it after it sets within the 1 minute mark, it starts to rub off kind of like eraser bits but in bunches.  After 2 minutes, forget about it.  It is on your skin FOR LIFE.  Just kidding, well until you pop out the make up remover.  if you try and blend it after the 2 minute mark, it will just fade away but that is with very vigorous rubbing which you should be doing to your poor eyelids anyways!

Spinel offered a very nice duo chrome shimmery finish, Ash stone give a natural looking earth toned metallic look and Milky way also offered a metallic look with less shimmer then the other three.

Overall thoughts:
I think these are one of Memebox’s stellar items out of all the products I have tried from them, these and their glitter formula eyeshadows are DA BOMB!!  For anyone who is looking to buy anything from Memebox, I’d highly suggest these if you want a long wearing, easy to use cream (more like gel) eyeshadows.  Overall I give these two thumbs up and I’d love to see more shades from them, hopefully a matte line and a cool duo chrome magic line.
