Neogen Canadian clay pore cleansing review I Clay from ma backyard

Canadian clay from British Columbia eh?  Ew, we don’t say eh a lot, I promise LOL.  This is kind of like getting clay from my backyard!  I live in British Columba, Canada and it is cool to see overseas companies using us as advertisement weeeeee!  Anyways, I have tried this clay cleanser 5 years ago when I got it in a Memebox package but I think I didn’t post a formal review on this.  So we will be doing it today as a part of the StyleKorean tryme review package.  Let’s get into it!

How to use:
 Apply an appropriate amount of it and evenly spread it over the dry face.  Leave for 5 minutes to allow the carbonated capsules to fully activate. Lightly soak the pore brush, use it to gently massage and cleanse your face.  Rinse off with lukewarm water.

Product packaging:
I have to say, this is one of the hardest packaging peel off job I’ve ever had to do in my life.  For some odd reason, the seal would not come off!!  The paper part of the seal would separate from the plastic but the plastic bit was holding on for dear life.  We get it, your a secure bish.

Opening up the clay cleanser, there is a cotton pad covering the surface to ensure the clay doesn’t bubble out.  There is also a separate plastic lid that comes in the box which you are supposed to shove in after opening.

From what I am seeing on the Korean Neogen website, you can get this cleanser either with this cleansing brush or without.  This is a synthetic, dense rounded brush that is good for massaging the cleanser all over your face.  To my honest, I’ve never liked using something like this and is kind of a hassle.  If I really were to use a cleansing brush, I would use an automatic brush like Clarisonic or Makeon’s.

Look at that ugly peel job.  Ugh, it bothers me so much but I can’t seem to rip it off!

Texture/ Finish:
For me and my dry skin, I usually avoid clay products like the plague since it usually dries me out.  But to my surprise, this clay pore cleanser didn’t dry me out!  The texture is much smoother and moist than most.  After applying it, it takes 1 minute for it to slightly bubble and the bubbles continue for the 5 minutes you are supposed to leave on.

The bubbles are super fine and it does tickle the skin a little bit, but it isn’t an uncomfortable or not tolerable type of tickle.  After the 5 minutes is up, massage it before rinsing.  It does take a while to get all the clay cleanser off your face but your skin feels softer afterward.  Did it help extract my blackheads?  Hmm, not really but then again, my blackheads are kind of hard to extract with products usually anyways and I’d have to manually extract them with a tool.

Fragrance?:
This clay mask smells a bit like medicinal herbs, and clay but not in a dirty dirt kind of way.  Think of what tea tree smells like, that kind of natural scent.  Smell-o-scale: 7/10 in terms of how strong the scent is and it doesn’t really fade away once on the skin but the scent is gone after you wash it away.

Pro:
-doesn’t dry my skin out
-leaves my skin feeling soft

Con:
-the damn packaging seal!!
-didn’t seem much difference with my pores

Overall thoughts:
Although I am impressed with this clay cleanser not dry the heck out of my skin, it really isn’t realistic for me to want to go through such a process every day just to cleanse my skin.  In all honesty, how many of you guys would have the patience to apply a cleanser, leave it on for 5 minutes, and use the whole brush system.  I think this is a good product but for the reasons I listed up above, this isn’t something I personally would recommend.
