Mascaras has always been something I’m scared to venture out since I’m scared of disappointment.ย If I ever find one that I love, I’ll just stick to it till the end of time.ย Maybelline one by one was my all time favourite but with my luck, they decided to discontinue it.ย Luckily I found an alternative with L’oreal’s million lash in waterproof, but I didn’t’ want to have to pay $9 compared to $5.ย I stumbled upon Maybelline’s rocket mascara which was the closest to the one by one and around the same price range.ย Ever since that mascara, that has been my repurchase go to for the longest time.ย Let’s just say, I have mascara trust issues haha.ย I got sent this Pony effect mascara a while ago and honestly forgot I even had it. I think subconsciously I thought this mascara wasn’t going to work anyways, so I just put off trying it.ย So after giving it a shot, does it work?ย Let’s find out :).

How to use:
After you have curled your lashes, simply comb the mascara onto your lashes with a slight zig zag motion until desired look.
Packaging:
Packaging for this mascara is a nice rose gold tube, and it is some sort of light weight metal.ย It’s definitely not plastic because thereย is a slight weight to it.ย Pony effect’s packaging is always top notch!
As for the brush itself, itย actually isn’t the traditional brush but a comb type.ย it has about two to three rows of teeth to catch your lashes.ย I personally was hesitant to try this since it didn’t look like it would work, but to my surprise, it was great!ย No lumping, nice separation and it darkens my lashes just a bit.
Color/ Pigmentation:
This mascara only comes in one shade, black.ย Not carbon black, just good old regular black.ย I kind of wish they had a brown version for the days I want a super natural eye look.ย But this black does just find and definitely darkens my lashes enough to see even with a slightly heavier eye makeup look.
Texture/ Finish:
If you look close enough, you’ll actually see little fibers in the mascara which I’m going to guess and say it is the silk protein.ย For me and my lashes, I have long lashes but they are stick straight so I have to use waterproof mascara for the curl to stay.ย Just like what the name states, it keeps my curl all day and also doesn’t flaky.ย I also don’t get raccoon eyes throughout the day which is a luxury to me :D.ย My lashes aren’t hard and crispy, it just has this kind of false lashes look but still looks super natural and you would definitely second guess to see if my lashes are real or fake with this mascara.
Lasting power:
If I’m wearing makeup, it is about a 12-hour day.ย I had no problem with this mascara lasting a 12-hour day and my lashes are still nice and curledย
Fragrance?:
No fragrance was detected.
Okay, let’s give this a try.
Here are my lashes curled.ย Oh my god, look at this eye wrinkles T_T.ย I need my Amore pacific moisture bound eye treatment back in my life :'(.ย It’s okay, it’s coming in the mail haha.
If I don’t curl my lashes, they will for sure just point straight down.ย Sigh…ย But the trade-off?ย At least I got long lashes haha.ย That and I also suck at applying false lashes so it kind of all works out.
The brush is a medium size but I can maneuver it around my eyes.ย But if you have shorter lashes, this may be a problem.
And viola!ย I do really like the look that this mascara gives.ย Natural, defined, and keeps the curl up.

Overall thoughts:
I really do like this mascara and it has joined my favorite pile of mascaras.ย I love that it separates, slightly lengthens, darkens, and keeps my lashes curled all day.ย I got nothing bad to say about this mascara other than you can only get it online.ย Other than that, this mascara is virtually perfect for my needs and I give it two thumbs up easily.ย Definitely recommended.
