Lip stains, lipsticks, lip products are definitely K-beauty’s forte.ย Not sure if Korea was the one toย bring lip stains to life, they for sure popularized it in the East and now has brought the wave to the Western market.ย I always have high hopes for lip products, so going into a fairly new brand called Romand and testing out their products, I’m hoping I will like these.ย I have tested out their eyeshadow palette as well as their blusher duo, but my opinion on the brand is quite lukewarm. So we will just have to see if these promising looking lip products will change myย opinion on the brand.ย Let’s go!ย Double review :).ย

Product packaging:
When I first saw the packaging on the website, I was like “ugh… white?”ย For some reason, white packaging if not done right easily looks cheap to me.ย Not to throw shade, but Michelle Phan’s Em cosmetic line back in the day with the white compacts and the clear casing did not match the mid range price.ย But when I got this lipstick and felt it in my hand, it was definitely a different story then my first impression.ย The casing is some sort of light metaย with a magnetic closure and the white isn’t a plain white but has a slight iridescent on the inside.ย The part that holds the lipstick bullet is gold, which I think kind of is mismatching since to me, the brand has a youthful but sophisticated feel.ย The gold kind of makes it look old lady and they could have definitely picked another on the inside like a rose gold or something.ย But I do get why they used gold since their other packaging is also white and gold.
Color/ Pigmentation:
Since the Romand products was sent to me as a pre-made set, I didn’t get to choose the lipstick shade.ย The shade I got is called “all that jazz” which is a off redish dusty rose shade.ย Honestly, this is not a shade I would have picked for myself but I think if I were to dab it on my lips and mix it with a lighter pink of some sort, I can work with it.ย The color is kind of old lady for my liking and something my mother might actually like haha.ย I could also use this as a cream blusher, so its fully a lost cause.ย ย The pigmentation is quite nice and pigmented with just one swipe to get the job done.ย I expect nothing less from a Korean lipstick.
Texture/ Finish:
Now the texture is something I have to nit pick about.ย I have read other people loving this lipstick but I have to disagree due to its weird texture.ย I have used matte lipsticks in the past and they usually kind of tug at the lips since it is more of a drier formula.ย This one from Romand has this weird slickness to it, I can’t really explain it well.ย It kind of reminds me of the cheap kid’s make up lipsticks I would play with as a kid.ย On the lips, it isn’t super drying but I just can’t get over the weird non-greasy but slick feeling.ย The lipstick is definitely matte, so I’ll give it that.ย It isn’t as drying as other matte lipsticks, but that texture doe!
Here are my bare lips with just a bit of lip balm with no color.ย My lips are quite red usually but I’ve been looking a little pale and dead these days LOL.ย Its called I’m a permanently tired human being transitioning as a night cook to a early bird baker.ย I’m dying over here… I’m definitely a night owl.
Here is the matte lipstick in “all that jazz” on my lips.ย It applies easily with one swipe but it does slightly accentuate the dry patches on your lips so beware.ย Its definitely not as bad as a liquid matte lipstick but still, exfoliate.
Lasting power:
Lasting power is an average of 3-4 hours but it definitelyย transfers so I’d suggest you bring the lipstick with you to reapply.ย For me and my sad dry lips, it is kind of drying so bring a lip balm with you if you really want to wear a lipstick with this formula.
Fragrance?:
No fragrance
Pro:
-pigmented enough to be applied on with one swipe
-good color selection
Con:
-odd slight non-greasy slick texture
Repurchase?:
No.

Overall thoughts:
This is definitely not my most favourite lipstick formula due to the odd texture I have mentioned.ย The pigmentation is nice and they have a good selection.ย If I were to choose a shade for myself, I think I’d go with Dusty pink which is the classic mauve lavender type of shade I like.ย Overall this lipstick isn’t bad, but it just isn’t for me since I already have dry lips and I’m not a fan of matte lipsticks anyways.ย Sorry Romand but this is a pass for me.

How to use:
Use the tip of the applicator to line lips and fill in. For a gradient look, apply on the inner area of your lips and gently press lips together to blend.
Product packaging:
They went on a completely different direction with the lip tint packaging.ย Surprisingly, they didn’t use the same white packagingย but a metallic light pink as their packaging.ย I actually like the font on this one better then the lipstick.ย It’s kind of odd that they used two different logos on their packaging since it is the same brand.ย Anyways, enough about the fine details.ย This lip tint comes in a twist off tube that comes with a tear drop doe foot applicator with the little hole in the center to catch the product for easy application.ย On the bottom is a label with the shade name and other information you’d normally find on your packaging.ย The only downside of the label is that there isn’t an English name T_T.ย WHY!!!!
The applicator kind of reminds me of the YSL glossy lip stains where it has the same angle and the slight tear drop shape.ย Although YSL’s has more of a pear shape to it, the application is pretty much the same.ย But I actually like this regular tear shape better since I can get a better edge to my lips for a cleaner lip line.
Color/ Pigmentation:
The shade I got for this lip tint was “ruby red’ which is your classic warm tone strawberry jam red.ย I usually don’t wear reds since it is super dramatic and is kind of much for my liking for day to day wear.ย But if you were to dab this on your lips, its actually really pretty and you can accentuate your natural lip color with it.ย Again, with just one swipe you get a super pigmented payoff.
Texture/ Finish:
Texture of these are kind of jelly feeling but looks super glossy if you were to apply it all over your lips.ย It sets really nice and is super hydrating which I really love.ย This product really reminds me of the I’m meme I’m lip tint (which I think may be discontinued? Not sure though), Pony effect’s Favourite fluid lip tints as well as YSL glossy lip stains but this one from Romand is for sure glossier and more pigmented.ย Dabbed on the lips for the gradiation lip look, this looks super natural due to the gel texture it has.ย All over the lips, it stays put but it does stain so make sure you do it right the first time or else you’ll look like Joker.
Lasting power:
The glossiness stays for about 1-2 hours for me and the stain lasts almost all day.ย My lips also doesn’t feel dry even after the glossiness goes away so that is a definite plus.
Fragrance?:
There is a watermelon scent to this lip tint, smell-o-scale 7/10 in terms of how strong the scent is.ย The fragrance does go away after application.
Now, let’s test this out on the lips.
Dabbed onto the center of my lips, here is what it looks like.ย This also kind of remind me of the I’m meme I’m gel tints that were easy to blend out since it had the gel formula.
And here it is all over the lips.ย Looks nice and juicy :P.ย It definitely looks slightly plumped!ย Yesssss.
Pro:
-super pigmented
-hydrating
-decent color selection
-nice glossy finish
Con:
-hope they expand the shade range
Repurchase?:
Yes!

Overall thoughts:
I absolutely love this lip tint. Although I was apprehensive about the red shade since I don’t wear it much, I do like it as a gradiation lip since it looks really natural like I didn’t try.ย Now I’m really curious to see what the other shades are like, especially the lightest pink shade and the mauve shade to the far right.ย Overall I’m happy with the result that this lip tint gives and I think this is a good buy for $13 (on sale right now for $7.80) if you have been itching to try the YSL glossy lip stains but don’t want to fork out the money, this is a good choice.ย Two thumbs up.

Thank you. I love your blog design and your review. I am a common user and just dive into K-beauty products since I find it more suitable to my skin condition than those Western products. I am struggling to find the perfect lip tint until I read your review on Romand.
Great job!
