Thank you farmer safe sun fluid review + comparison

Thank you farmer has remained one of my most favorite skincare brands and I’ve always looked forward to their new releases.  Luckily for me this year, they’ve come out with quite a few new products including two new sunscreens.  Their sunscreens are one of the best, especially their water sun cream which is the most comparable to Biore UV Aqua rich watery essence in my opinion.  Now that there is a third sunscreen, of course, I had to try it!  With double, the amount of product at 100 mL a bottle, will this giant beast bet its older contenders?   Let’s find out together!

How to use:

Product packaging:
Packaging wise, this sunscreen comes in a plastic squeeze bottle with a screw off lid.  I don’t find a semi-hard container to be ideal for getting all the product out since I can barely even press down on it.  I do love their sign design and font that they choice hehe. I’ve been nerding out on font styles and how it affects the overall look of a product.

The tip is just your typical small holed tip which helps control the amount of product you need.

Texture/ Finish, effects & results:
Thinking that the new safe sun fluid sunscreen would be the same as their water sun cream, I was quite surprised to find the texture to be a little bit thicker and less watery!  I actually kind of prefer the new sunscreen better since a lot of times when I use a super-thin gel sunscreen, I worry I don’t get the same amount of coverage in terms of protection. I also find the new safe sun fluid to be a little bit more hydrating for my dry skin but it doesn’t have a greasy finish still.

Since this sunscreen is a 100% mineral sunscreen, you might be thinking that it will leave your skin with a white cast.  To my surprise, it doesn’t!  Not only does it blend effortlessly into the skin, no Casper the ghost here whoo whoo!

Now I’ll show you a comparison with their older but well-loved water sun cream, which I claim as my Biore sunscreen dupe.

As you can see, TYF’s sun project water sun cream is almost like an essence/ gel texture and melts into your skin effortlessly.  This version would be ideal for those who have normal to oily skin type that wants to feel absolutely nothing when it comes to their sun protection.  As for the safe sun fluid, it has a bit more body to it but is still very light and I think can still work with all skin types, that is unless your allergic to mineral sunscreen.

Fragrance?:
Although I don’t smell much fragrance, I do see that on the list of ingredients telling me Turmeric root extract, Caprylic/ Capric Triglyceride (derived from coconut oil and glycerin), Octyldodecanol and fragrance are listed in the smelly department.  Luckily none of these ingredients are triggering the skin sensitivity alarm so we’re in the clear.  Smell-o-scale: 4/10 in terms of how strong the scent is.  The fragrance does fade immediately after application, so no worries there as well!

Overall thoughts:
If you are still questioning which sunscreen to get, here’s what I think is the biggest deciding factor. Do you need the lightest chemical sunscreen that is basically like water for the same price range of $20-22 for 50 mL?  Or do you need a mineral sunscreen that is $22 for 100 mL?  Me personally I’m leaning towards the safe sun fluid sunscreen since I like the added moisture as well as the fact that it is double the size for the same price.  It leaves me no white cast and is just as lightweight.  I’m highly impressed with their sunscreen as well as their skincare, so I never have any trouble recommending the brand as a whole :).  Definitely check out their new sunscreen if you are in the market for one!
