Still on the hunt for the best sleeping lip mask?ย Torriden solid in lip essence has been all the rage in Korea.ย Heck, even Haley from IG: @Kbeautysleuth raved about it when I was in Korea.ย On top of that, it is ranking quite high on Glowpick too, which means I’m going to have to try it for you guys!ย If you didn’t know, I already have a holy grail lip sleeping mask which I’ve been using for years called Etude House ginger sugar overnight lip mask (formerly known as Aritaum but the brand is extinct and now moved their iconic product to Etude House).ย With all that being said, let’s see why this ceramide lip essence from Torriden is so popular!

How to use:
Apply a generous amount before sleep as a lip sleeping mask to make your lips look beautiful and hydrated the next day.
Product packaging:
As I said for the Torriden sunscreen I reviewed last week, I find Torriden’s packaging and design very underwhelming.ย This lip essence comes in a standard lippie tube that reminds me of the Vaseline lip treatment I had as a kid.ย I mean, nothing is wrong with that but at least design your typography with a little more spunk.
The Torriden solid in lip essence dispenses through the plastic tube, which I usually still like to apply it with my fingers even though it isn’t the most sanitary thing to do.
Texture/ Finish:
To my surprise, this lip essence squeezes out a bit thick.ย Once you apply it on the lips though, it melts into your skin and feels very comfortable on.ย For those of you who’s tried the Aritaum ginger sugar overnight lip mask which applies like a thick paste, this is more of a day-type lip treatment for me.ย For those of you who don’t like something so thick, like how my best friend hates the Aritaum one, this one is definitely for you.
This is a 100% vegan formula with Olea Europaea (Olive) fruit oil as the antioxidant, 5 different types of ceramides (helps hold skin cells firmly together in the uppermost skin layer; protects your skin from allergens and external aggressors), and panthenol to help soothe your skin.ย There is petrolatum in it (aka. petroleum jelly), which does contribute to the familiar oily jelly feeling to the lip balm.ย This is a definite upgrade to Vaseline though as it stays on the lips a lot longer and has a longer-lasting hydration effect.
Here are my lips screaming for some sort of lip balm.ย As you can see, there are crusty bits on the top of my lip and if I let this continue any longer, I most likely will smile and the middle of my lip will crack and bleed.ย This isn’t as bad as it can get since I prime my lips with the Aritaum ginger sugar lip mask at night and wake up to more hydrated and plumped-looking lips.
Hydration lasting power:
And here are my lips with the Torriden solid in lip essence.ย I did try replacing my Aritaum ginger sugar lip mask a couple of nights with this Torriden solid in lip essence.ย It did the job just fine, but it didn’t have that added touch I need.ย I actually toss and turn, wake up after a couple of hours and my ginger lip mask is still on my lips.ย This one definitely absorbed into my lips overnight and it went back to slightly dry.ย For me, this is the perfect daytime lip treatment that is something comfortable and not too thick.

Overall thoughts:
Considering this is a fully vegan formula and how affordable it is retailing for 7,000 won ($5.36 usd), I can understand why this is such a beloved product.ย Heck, I think I saw it in Korea on sale for $10 for 2 at some point.ย It is very comfortable on the lips, does the job well, and just works.ย I don’t think this will replace my beloved holy grail lip mask, however, this is a good daytime alternative to keep my lips from looking like a wrinkly butthole.ย 4/5 stars and will definitely recommend it if you are looking for a solid lip balm/ treatment.
