$100 Rose face cream?!? (Hera rosy satin cream review)

Expensive korean skincare (Hera rosy satin cream)I’m usually one to stick with affordable skincare, but from time to time… I want to feel like a rich lady once a night when I’m doing my skincare. Slather that expensive Korean skincare all over my face~~ When I was shopping around Jolse and saw this new product come out, I had my hopes and dreams in a jar.  On top of that, the bottle really reminded me of the Charlotte Tilbury magic cream and is kind of advertised kind of the same as well.  So with that said, let’s see if this product is worth its pricey 98,000 won price tag.  Let’s go!

Luxury skincare brand- Hera rosy satin creamProduct packaging:
When I first got this cream, I was so taken by the beautiful luxurious packaging.  You definitely get what you pay for with this cream.  Unfortunately for me, I put a knife through the top of the box to cut the sticker and accidentally left a nice mark on the lid :'(.

Hera rosy satin creamOnce you slide open the first layer of rose gold cardboard, inside you will see another box which opens like a flower.  And your beautiful, vintage inspired jar is inside.  It really really reminds me of the Charlotte Tilbury magic cream but I think this jar looks way nicer.

Hera rosy satin cream reviewSometimes I just have this jar sitting on my counter so I could look at it.  Its so PRETTY!  Okay enough of drooling over the jar …

Hera skincare reviewOnce you screw off the lid, you’ll see another plastic lid covering the cream to keep things hygenic and air tight.  That is always a nice touch.  Odd that this cream didn’t come with a spatula though.. you’d think you’d get a rose gold spatula but you don’t.  The lid also attracts fingerprints, so if your a super picky person, you have been warned.

Hera rosy satin cream reviewTexture/ Finish:
Surprisingly, this cream is actually quite lightweight.  I don’t know what I was expecting but to be honest, I was sucked in by the advertisements HAHA.  All that water drops and soft like a petal marketing got it.  IT GOT TO ME OKAY? DANG!  Its very light weight, which is good for using it as a hydrating primer before make up since it won’t cause your make up to pill up which I hate!!  It leaves a nice subtle hydrating effect to the skin but my skin is so dry, that it drinks this stuff up like it is nothing.  On days I didn’t wear make up, I use this as my moisturizer.  At first it was okay but still not hydrating enough for my sad skin.  After 8 hours, my skin had no moisturized feeling and looked very sad and dry.

Unfortunately for me, after about four days of using this, I had to stop using it because my skin was getting itchy and dry.  On top of that, I had a huge irritation bump in my right cheek and along the tops of my cheekbone.  I was already quite weary about this product since my skin doesn’t really like rose products.  The first time I used a rose sheet mask from Bon Vivant, my skin felt like it was on fire and my skin got super itchy and irritated for a good two weeks.  Keep in mind, I have very resilient skin and usually can try any product and sometimes I can’t even see effects because it is so resilient.  So working with this type of skin and then getting irritated in four days, it is a no go for me.

Fragrance?:
This product is SUPER heavily fragranced with rose.  From the looks of the ingredients list, fragrance is at the middle of the list and I think it should be all the way to the end.  Even after application, I can still smell the product on my skin.  It has that rich Parisienne lady rose scent which can be a good or bad thing depending on your preferences.  Me personally I don’t like rose all that much, but if it is natural rose scent like the one fro 107 oneoseven rose vinegar mist, then I do like.  Smell-o-scale: 8/10 in terms of how strong the scent.  Can we say P.U (shoot does anyone say that anymore)?

Pro:
-beautiful packaging
-good as a make up base for light hydration

Con:
-not hydrating enough for my super dry skin
-irritated my skin :'(

Repurchase?:
Not for me </3

Overall thoughts:
I really wanted to love this product but of course I got sucked into the marketing of it all.  New products are super excited to try and this one definitely sucked me in.  Unfortunately for me, this product didn’t work out and I”m so sad :'(.  Now I have to see if my mom would like to adopt this baby haha.  But I can’t give this product a bad mark because it might be just my own skin’s preference of hating on rose.  Overall I think this is a decent product but just not for someone with super dry skin trying to find a new moisturizing cream.

Thanks, Christina! I was really eyeing this one, but I, too, need more moisture…and I am averse to heavy rose scents. Thank you for saving my wallet!
