Bio-cellulose hydrogel mask~ (B.liv hydrate away mask review)

B.liv hydrate away masks reviewLike I always say, and it also kind of shows on the blog, I don’t really dive myself into the world of sheet masks much.ย  Why?ย  Because I’m lazy, period.ย  On top of that, its another pile of Gudetama laziness.ย  But from time to time (aka. when I’m desperate af during my period when my skin is like the Sahara dessert), I whip one of these babies out.ย  Now this is actually not a Korea brand but a Southeast Asian brand, specifically from Malaysia/ Singapore.ย  I’ve tried some of their other skincare products and they all worked well and didn’t irritate my skin, so they are definitely an option for my Southeast fam as well as international fam (they have international shipping!).

sheet mask everydayProduct packaging:
Product packaging is very standard.ย  It comes in a box of four and inside is the sheet mask itself.

sheet mask routineThis review will be more of a walk through type of review since there really isn’t much to say with sheet masks.

sheet mask reviewMy main skin concerns are usually dryness, dead skin cells and the bit of redness around my cheeks.ย  I’m also getting a bit of sun spots on my left cheekbone which I want to get rid of, but I’m not asking for miracles from one product.

B.liv sheet maskWhen you take the mask out of the packet, it is neatly folded together with two layers of mesh.

sheet mask packIunno why but the side of the mask reminds me of Magikarp.

sheet mask a dayMaterial of mask:
Unlike hydrogel masks, this mask is actually made with bio-cellulose mask containing organic Spirulina (a deep sea blue green algae).ย  The feel definitely feels different from hydrogel where it is thinner then hydrogels and almost kind of… chewy and elastic.ย  If you guys are familiar with the ingredient agar agar (type of seaweed) which is used in a lot of Chinese desserts for its ability to set without refrigeration, this mask almost has that same “chewy” texture.

B.liv sheet mask everydayWhen applying the mask, I highly recommend peeling off one side of the mesh off first, then place it on your face and then take the other layer off.ย  It will make your life a whole lot easier since the mask would clump up if you don’t.

sheet mask hydrogelFit (sheet mask):
I actually quite familiarย with these “gel” masks from B.liv since I really loved the other one they used to have, but it seems like it is discontinued now.ย  These bio-cellulose masks fit the skin super snug and almost fits like a glove on the face.ย  The only complaint I have is the eye hole being too big and I really don’t find the eye flaps necessary.

sheet mask everydayAfter 20 minutes, the mask still hasn’t dried up which is quite impressive.ย  The essence is quite lightweight and my skin drank it all up right away.

Pro:
-snug fit
-doesn’t dry up fast

Con:
-not moisturizing enough for my dry skin

Repurchase?:
Not for my skin type but others will like it.

Overall thoughts:
Although I don’t find the essence in this sheet mask moisturizing enough for my dry skin, I can see a lot of other skin types (oily, combo) liking it as well as people who live in humid climates liking this.ย  Overall I like the fit and feel of the mask but essence isn’t hydrating enough for my taste.
