Holika Holika butter melting highlighter review I Hince dupes?

I have to admit, I don’t think I’ve ever come across a makeup collection centered around the butter. The idea is cute but most of the products in this collection are super neutral and boring. The only product that stood out in the whole collection is the melting highlighter, solely on the fact that it reminds me a lot of Hince’s true dimension balms which look the same with the same concept.ย  Of course, I caved in the name of science and I am here to test out it for you.ย  Let’s get into the review!

How to use:
Apply on the skin with either your fingers or directly on the skin and blend.ย  You can either use it on bare skin or as a highlighting finish on top of your foundation.

Packaging:
When I first got this, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the packaging.ย  I’m not saying Holika Holika is a cheap brand, but it is a road shop brand (Korean equivalent of a drugstore brand). The tube comes in a tin-like material and there is a bit of weight to it, making it feel high-end. To use the product, you simply pop off the lid and twist up the stick.

The highlighter sadly only comes in one shade in this collection.ย  If there were more shades, I would have gotten them all!! The stick sometimes scraps against the tube and takes a bit off which is kind of annoying.

Color/ Pigmentation + texture/ finish:
This Holika Holika butter melting highlighter has a champagne silvery finish and the shimmers blend out very well, leaving a natural, subtle glow to the skin.ย  The formula melts into the skin effortlessly and gives the skin a slight boost of hydrating with its cacao seed butter, palm seed butter, and mango seed butter in the mixture.

Can you see it?ย  If you look closely, you can see a slightly iridescent finish!ย  You’ll be able to see it better in the demo on my face.

I did get curious about this Holika Holika butter melting highlighter because it reminded me so much of the famous Hince dimension radiance balm.ย  I mean, they even updated their H logo to look similar to the Hince logo. Tsk tsk… do I smell a lawsuit?

Both the packaging is the exact same too! The only difference is the finish of the metal with Holika Holika’s having more of a frosted look while Hince’s is a glossy white finish.ย  I’ll be reviewing the Hince dimension radiance balms next, so look forward to that.

Here is my face with a bit of base makeup and my right side has a bit of cream blush.ย  As you can see, the left side of my face is dull and dimensionless.

Let’s try on the Holika Holika butter melting highlighter on!

I personally am lazy, so I just apply it directly to my face.ย  However, I do recommend you apply it on your fingers first to dab on since the stick will move around your base.

I love the effect it gives.ย  The butter in the formula with the fine pearl finish not only doesn’t accentuate my dry patches, it also makes it look like my skin is glowing from within.

Look at that glowwwww!!! This stick would work on all skin types too.ย  YASSSSSS

Here it is on both sides of my face.ย  So glowy and natural, like I was born with this hydrated look.

Fragrance?:
No fragrance detected.

Pro:
-buttery smooth formula
-hydrating
-doesn’t accentuate my dry patches
-blends out seamlessly

Con:
We need more shades!!

Repurchase?:
Maybe but I might not finish the whole tube before the collection goes away.

Stars given out of 5:
????????????????

Overall thoughts:
I personally am obsessed with anything cream-based.ย  Cream blushes, cream contour, cream highlighters are the bomb for me.ย  I’m happy to say that this highlighter stick not only didn’t disappoint, I actually think I like it better than the Hince sticks.ย  The formula doesn’t feel heavy on the skin, blends easily and the fine pearl finish is gorgeous, giving my skin that glass skin look we all want.ย  Overall, I’m super pleased with this product and give you the thumbs up if you have been wanting to buy it!
