Holika Holika sweet peko multi jelly blusher & milky jelly luminizer melting milk Review + demo

Holilka Holika x Sweet peko collection reviewSomething I haven’t really tried from K-beauty is jelly face products.  Don’t get me wrong, I have those bouncy blusher type of things but never tried a product that is jelly so i didn’t really know what to expect.  For the past two years, I have not been setting my base make up with any powders and have been sticking to all cream or liquid products to aid my face and its dryness.  I’m super excited to share these two products from the Holika Holika Peko line because I think these two are the only star products in the collection that is worth buying.  So… let’s get started with the review! This is going to be a double review so it is extra long.  Get a comfy chair and some popcorn.

You could use it underneath make up as a primer but I find that it is best to just use it more like a cream highlighter on top of your base make up.

Holika holika multi jelly luminizerProduct packaging:
Packaging for this product comes in a simple smooth tin with a twist off cap.  The logo is printed nicely onto the tin and has a slight gloss finish, making the graphics not easily scratched off which is nice.

Holika holika milky jelly luminizer melting milk I’m honestly quite surprised at the amount of product they give you.  If you are going to only gives us that much product, why have the tin so deep.  It just makes it feel like we’re getting ripped off.  Granted this is only $11, but still.  The human brain won’t think like that.  Make the damn tin smaller!

Holika Holika peko luminizerColour/ pigmentation:
I was actually on the fence of getting this product when I was ordering because white highlighters aren’t something that is flattering at all.  It just looks unnatural and stark on the skin.  But surprisingly, this white based highlighter with super fine sliver shimmers that gives the skin more of a sheen totally works!  It blends into nothingness into the skin and makes you second guess if you even put it on in the first place.  I actually love using this when I’m either bare face or with super light base make up to trick people into thinking my skin is just this glowy and hydrated all the time.

Texture/ Finish:
The texture feels a little greasy but it melts into the skin nicely into almost a nothingness.  If you were to swatch it on the back of your hands, you’d definitely pass up on this product because you’d think it is not pigmented.  I think its a totally different story on the face.  With this luminizer, it gives my skin that nice healthy glow, kind of like what Glossier has been branding themselves.  That reminds me, I need to try Glossier haha.

Lasting power:
For me and my dry skin, I’d give it an average of 6 hours before you can’t really see anything on my face.  Keep in mind, I don’t set my make up with any powders.  My skin naturally soaks up the moisture in my face and makes my base make up slightly more satin at the end of the day.  I wouldn’t say this is the most long lasting product but the effect that it gives my face makes me forgive its short comings.

Fragrance?:
There is a very faint scent of vanilla but it definitely is not strong and the scent disappears after application.  Smell-o-scale: 3/10 in terms of how strong the scent is.

Holika Holika peko luminizerDemo time!

I usually don’t use anything else other then my fingers.  I’d highly recommend not using the swiping motion because the texture of this luinizer will definitely move things around.

Before (I have the Holika Holika x Peko hard cover glow cushion on)…

Holika Holika peko luminizerAnd after.  The difference is subtle but definitely noticeable.  If you want that so called “glass skin”, this would be upgraded to the plastic mannequin look.  Hey, I started a new trend HAHA.

Here is the luminizer all over.  As much as I love my Mac cream color base in Hush which is a rose gold highlighter that looks super natural on my face, I’ve been grabbing this lately.  Its amazing!

Pro:
-super natural glow
-easy to blend

Con:
-not the most long lasting product
-white base might not work for all skintones

Repurchase?:
Yes I would if there were more shades and if it wasn’t limited edition.

Overall thoughts:
I really like this product and this along with the blusher that I will show you in a second is the go to star products in the collection.  I love that it gives my skin that nice natural glow and you can use it on bare face to trick people hehe.  Its actually sold out on Jolse at the moment and I can definitely see why.  If it does come back in stock or if you can find it anywhere else, pick it up if you love that dewy, hydrated look.  Two thumbs up.  Holika holika, please come out with more shades, I want more shades <3.  Thanks.

Holika Holika multi jelly blusher reviewProduct packaging:
Packaging is just like the luminizer with the tin container and the tiny amount of product that they give you.  According to the shade that you get, Peko has different color bows and cheeks.  I wish they had the background and the tint different colors and not just the girl because it really is hard to tell when you have everything stacked in your collection.  Or is that just my problem because I have so much make up haha.  Yes I’m a hoarder :P.  I’m going to blame it on “science” okay… its for research.

Holika Holika multi jelly blusherColour/ pigmentation:
I’m quite annoyed at myself because I meant to buy shade #2 and #3 but I accidentally put two of #3 shade into the cart and didn’t know.  UGH but anyways, I’m happy I at least got the pink shade that I wanted.  #3 melting strawberry is a really nice faint pinky strawberry with a slight hint of a lavender undertone.  On the cheeks, it gives me a really nice and natural pink flush, just like when your out in the cold for a long period of time.  It isn’t super pigmented, which I actually kind of like because I’m so heavy handed with blush sometimes.

Texture/ Finish:
When I’m using this jelly blush, I like it use it with my air puff but you can definitely use your finger as well.  I like to use the air puff because I’m not left with a weird red stain on my finger.  Surprisingly this doesn’t stain my cheeks when it is on my face, but I think that might be because I got base make up on.  I wouldn’t put this on bare skin though in the risk of it really staining my face.  Also do one cheek at a time and not try to be a hero and dab it on both sides and then end up looking like a clown.  ONE CHEEK AT A TIME.  It blends into the skin really effortlessly but don’t go too crazy with the swiping motion because we are dealing with wet products.  When it is blended into the skin, it maintains a nice subtle healthy glow but it doesn’t feel tacky or wet.

Lasting power:
Again, this lasts about 6 hours on my unset base make up.  If you are going to use this product, you will have to reapply.  That is just how it is.

Fragrance?:
Ohhh!  I was actually expecting this to have the same scent as the luminizer but it actually has a nice refreshing mango scent.  Smell-o-scale: 4/10 in terms of how strong the scent is and scent disappears after application.

Holika Holika peko special setLet’s try this blusher on! The one shade that I have (sigh stupid Christina).  Note to self, triple check your order before you press submit.

Before…

Take your air puff and smile.  I usually like to apply blush on the apples of my cheeks and bringing it up to the sides of my eye for that “drunk” cute look.

Before (left) and after (right).  The results can speak for itself.  Noticeable but still understated.

My new favourite blusher!  Funny thing is, my first favourite cream blusher are still from Holika Holika (Gudetama jelly dough blusher, Gudetama lazy and easy blusher).

Pro:
-easy to blend
-pigmented but natural

Con:
-not the most long lasting product if not set

Repurchase?:
Yes! I’m quite tempted to pick up the rest of the shades.

Overall thoughts:
I frinkin’ love this blusher and it is a new go to, no brainer type of shade for me.  I love how it keeps my skin hydrated while giving me that hint of color.  It blends effortlessly into the skin and I just love it.  Not much else to say other then it is easily loveable and I think everyone should pick at least one of the three shades up before they are sold out!  Two thumbs up :).  I’m still beating myself for getting two of the same damn shades.  UGH.
