Holika Holika x Sweet Peko water drop tint bomb & melty jelly lip balm Review and swatches

Finally, we have the last few products from the Holika Holika x Peko collection, the lip products that is.  I honestly wasn’t going to get them, but at this point after picking up three face products from the collection, I might as well haha.  I chose one of the two shades from the lip balm line and one of the water drop tint bombs since its been a product I’ve been wanting to try for a long time.  On a daily basis, I like more of a natural lip and you’d find me using mostly lip balms because I really can’t be bothered.  Maybe these two additions to the family could be a slight upgrade? We shall see!

How to use:
You can use the outside lip balm as a clear moisturizing lip balm or mix it with the strawberry for a nice tint on the lips.

Packaging:
If you read my review on the jelly blusher, you’d remember me complaining about the tint being too wide and having so little product.  I’d actually think if the blusher was just slightly bigger then this lip balm, it would have been perfect but meh.  Anyways, this lip balm comes in the same shiny tin with a twist off cap.  Inside reveals the two layers of product, outside being the lip balm and the middle where the strawberry is is the tinted lip balm.  I kind of wish there was some sort of separate between the strawberry and the lip balm because after a while, the strawberry shape will bleed into the lip balm and then it just ain’t pretty.

Also if you plan to use this product with just your fingers and want to use the two products separately, good luck.  Even with my tiny baby hands, I still can’t get my baby pinkie to get just the lip balm.  So I’d suggest you to bring a lip brush if you are really wanting to use them separately.

Color/ Pigmentation:
In the limited edition collection, this lip balm comes in two shades.  I have here #2 Peach berry since cherry berry looked a little boring.  On top of that, summer time means its orange and coral time!  The lip balm side has absolutely no color even though it looks like there would be some sort of light tint.  As for the strawberry part, it has a nice coral tint on the back of my hands, but on the lips it is just a light hint of coral.  Don’t expect this product to give you a crazy amount of pigmentation, but I actually like it this way.

Random thought but if you have a daughter or a child that wants to get into make up but they are still way too young, I’d suggest this as a good start.  It has a cute packaging and has just enough color for them to feel like they are using real make up but its just a tinted lip balm.  I would have LOVED this if I was still in elementary school and my mom got me this.  Unfortunately my mom never really used make up, so I just had this natural curiosity towards make up but had no outlet to express that side of me.  Look at me now!! HEHE FREE BIRDIE.

Texture/ Finish:
The tint part definitely has a slightly drier formula then the lip balm and the color clings onto my lips quite nicely. It doesn’t slip and slide and looks super natural on the lips.  Top that off with the outside glossy and you got one of the best combos.  The balm isn’t greasy and isn’t sticky and it hydrates the lips nicely for a couple of hours.  It also doesn’t dry out the lips after it has been absorbed.Here is my lips with just the lip balm.  Nice and moisturized without being drool-on-the-lips glossy.And here are my lips with the lip balm and the tinted strawberry part.  Subtle and natural looking, just the way I like it.

Lasting power:
This lip balm lasts about 1.5 hours before I’d need to reapply, but the hydration stays for about 3 hours.

Fragrance?:
I don’t know if it is because Holika Holika collborated with a Japanese confectionary company, but they got the fragrance pat down. This smells exactly like the Japanese strawberry candies with a hint more of sourness.  It is ON POINT!  Smell-o-scale: 4/10 in terms of how strong the scent is and the fragrances fades after application.

Con:
-strawberry part will melt into the lip balm overtime with use

Repurchase?:
Maybe if they come out with cooler and more interesting shades in the future.

Overall thoughts:
At this point of the review, I feel like I beat it with a dead horse with all the repetition on my thoughts.  So I’m just going to make this outro short.  Good product, tint is nice and I give this product a two thumbs up if you are eyeing it.  Nothing crazy special but I can see myself using this everyday.

How to use:
Simply take the tube and apply it directly onto your lips.

Packaging:
Packaging for this product is super cute and I love how the outside color coordinates with the shade inside.  Outside is Peko on the lid and there is the usual information on the label but the shade name is in Korean.

One unique thing about this lip tint is the teardrop shape to the tube which helps in applying the product more precisely onto the lips.  But I do have to note that I’m already having problems with the twist up function of this product.  So when I got it, I twist it all the way up to check how much product is in this thing and then when I went to twist it all the way down, it wouldn’t go fully down.  It peeked out about 0.5 mm and I’m guessing the product detached from the holder in the bottom.  So now I have to physically push the product back down.  I don’t know if it is just mind but just a heads up.

Color/ Pigmentation:
I got only one shade out of the 5 that they offer and it is 03 fig water.  03 fig water in the promo picture looks like a neutral dusty rose shade with a brown undertone but in reality, it is more like a muted coral shade with a strong raspberry undertone.  This tint isn’t super neon which I absolutely appreciate.  I don’t like watery lip tints because it has this neon-ness to it that I really don’t like.  It seriously looks like girls take neon felt markets and just draw out their lips.  On top of that, its super drying so no thank you.

Texture/ Finish:
I’ve never tried anything like this product before.  I was expecting it to be a regular lip balm with a hint of color, but this product almost goes on the lips dry.  When you swipe it onto your lips, it has a cooling sensation and has a slight watery feel to it.  The tint goes on your lips very subtly and drys down to nothing.  Also if you want something super natural to the point of people questioning if you have naturally gorgeous lips, one layer will do.  If you want something more visible, two layers is the way to go.

This product is also transfer proof , so if your partner has been complaining about getting love pecks on their face, this is your solution!

Bare lips…

And with the lip tint!  I’d try to exfoliate your lips well before using this.  It doesn’t cling into the lips severely but it does get a bit dry after a couple of hours so beware.

Lasting power:
This product lasts on average 4 hours with normal wear and light eating (non greasy foods that is).  I’m surprise this product lasts so long but then again, it is a tint.

Fragrance?:
There is a slight fruity fragrance to it but it isn’t anything strong and does disappear after application.  Smell-o-scale: 4/10 in terms of how strong the scent is.

Pro:
-super long lasting
-stains the lips but lightweight
-not as drying as the watery tints

Con:
-will need a balm after couple hours

Repurchase?:
Maybe!  I’m checking out their permanent line and can see a couple of shades I would love to try.

Overall thoughts:
Now that I’m checking out Holika Holika’s website, I can see that this product is actually one of their best sellers and i can definitely see why. It is super lightweight on the lips but still gives a nice lip tint stain without looking overly done.  It is super long lasting and transfer proof and overall a good product.  Another two thumbs up product and would definitely check these out or the permanent line.  Now I’m really curious to try more Holika Holika lip product because they are killin’ it!Products gifted by Jolse.  Not sponsored.
