Mamonde men dandelion line review I Modern cavemen’s simpleton POV

Skincare has been something I’ve been trying to gently introduce to my boyfriend. Not to be mean, but every time I see his face and see it all crusty and dry, I can’t handle it. My skincare nerd self just wants to slap everything on his face to see it glowy and hydrated. He’s the type of guy that would say aloe vera is “sticky”. I’m surprised he doesn’t say water is sticky ugh.

BUT, but, there has been a recent change of heart after being introduced to the Foreo Luna 3 men (review here)!!!! So the “trick” to getting your man into being a part of our crazy skincare lives is to introduce them to a super odd but very interesting device, and they will start to build interest. Trust me when I say my boy is the most modern caveman on this planet and it was a shock to even me when he is still consistently using the Foreo Luna 3 men even to this day!!!

So with that new change of heart, I’ve been easing more and more skincare products towards his picky ass and thought I would look more into men’s skincare. The idea of him thinking my products are sticky finally has given me the eureka moment that made me realize, oh wait… men’s skin is 30% more oily than females and their pores are much larger than ours. So, they really don’t need super hydrating products like what I was trying to get him to use. With that in mind, I tried to look for men’s skincare product reviews on the internet and there was practically none.

One of the few men specific skincare line on Jolse was Mamonde’s dandelion line. I had to get this fully blind since there were no reviews. One product that caught my eye was the Mamonde men recharging all in one fluid

Hmm, I don’t have much to say about this toner other than it’s pretty shit. This is one of those products on the list of “say no to these ingredients”, but put it all in one cocktail and you get this bottle of no. The first time my boyfriend tried it (and me standing next to him), we both were dying from the heavy cologne scent. Is he putting toner on his face or Axe deodorant? We can’t tell because they both smell the same and both are strong as heck.

If you look at the ingredients list too, the second ingredient is ALCOHOL. THIS ISN’T CLINIQUE people. The sixth ingredient is FRAGRANCE, like brah… it needs to be at the end of the ingredients. Just because this skincare line is designed for “men”, does not mean they LOVE fragrance that much more.

Secondly, this toner does absolutely nothing in the hydration department. He loves the Tony Moly mochi toner so much better and it doesn’t have the forever lingering fragrance that sticks to your face like it’s a curse. Just… don’t even bother with this product.

Pro:
ZIP, NADA, NOTHING. I’m so annoyed LOL

-alcohol is the second ingredient
-not hydrating at all

Use in the morning and at night.I got this product for him thinking it is so perfect since he’s always said, “Why can’t there be a product that I can do everything all at once.” Well, apparently there is! The sound of a toner, essence and lotion is almost like a dream come true, BUT… it didn’t do anything for his skin. Are we seeing a pattern here? When he used this all in one fluid with the coordinating moisturizer, it wasn’t too shabby. But when he just used this and no moisturizer, it wasn’t hydrating and left him looking crusty.

Fragrance again is too strong for him, but comparing this fluid to the toner, it is definitely night and day. It has the same high school Axe spray scent and still does linger, but it isn’t as intoxicating as the toner. Also, alcohol is again high up on the list. I’m wondering if alcohol is high up in men’s skincare in general to control their oil production? There are so many other better ingredients to use to control oil though….

Overall thoughts:
I’m now wondering if men’s skincare is just a marketing scheme or if they’re actually good men’s only dedicated skincare products. Out of the three products in the line, this is definitely not the worst but also didn’t do anything really :S. The fragrance isn’t the same AXE body spray scent but a more mild, green scent with an underlining male cologne fragrance. It’s just meh so.. PASS.

I’ve been searching high and low for a moisturizing that isn’t deemed “sticky” for my boyfriend and this one to my surprise, he says is not sticky! I do have to keep in mind that men’s skincare needs to be lighter than women’s since their skin is 30% oilier and thicker than female skin. This is definitely a step in the right direction, but it again is too fragranced with no real substance. Again, still not hydrating enough and works okay with the all in one fluid but still passable.

Pro:
– not “sticky” (aka. not too heavy for him)

Overall thoughts:
Okay, okay, I won’t give this product a one-star LOL. This is also another okay but still not good enough moisturizer and alcohol/ fragrance still ranks really high up in the list. Together with the all in one fluid, this works alright and I can see his face being a little more moisturized and less crusty, however, he says the scent is too strong and makes him not want to use it.

My first “men’s skincare” experience has just blown up in my face. Horrible first try and it is making me rethink getting men-specific products and if it is a marketing scam. If your significant other is using men specific products and doesn’t stink + works for him, please let me know. Otherwise, I’m just going to try to find products in my collection that is on the lightweight side for him to try :). Overall don’t get this line, like NOOOOOOO…unless you want to use the toner in your man’s armpit or something.
