Pony effect Fixi Eye primer Review + demo

Pony effect fixi eye primer reviewOkay, I have to admit, I kind of forgot about this product since it just seamlessly worked into my make up routine and got lost into my make up collection. ย I made it a point to get this product reviewed since it doesn’t seem right to not have all the Pony effect product reviewed on my blog hehe. ย I still want to get my hands on their cushions, concealers and foundations but it will have to wait since I got so many products to go through these days. ย When I think of K-beauty, I can’t really think of many companies that produces eye primers since most people in the east seems to just use foundation on their eye lids. ย I personally don’t like using foundation or concealer as a eyeshadow primer since it usually is too heavy and would crease. ย Eyeshadow primers are usually designed a lot thinner in consistency, blends into the eyelids transparent while being able to able to get powder eyeshadows to adhere better and be more vibrant. ย I’ve used western eyeshadow primers such as Urban Decay’sย eyeshadow primer, Too faced shadow insurance and also Nars smudge proof eyeshadow primer. ย Let’s see how this one from Pony effect preforms!! Onto the review~

Pony effect eyeshadow primerProduct packaging:
Packaging is very sleek, simple and effective like the rest of Pony effect’s line. ย The eyeshadow primer comes in a chubby tube with a screw cap which holds the doe foot applicator.

If you’re worried about the product sticking to the side, no worries because the applicator can reach the sides as well. ย And if you are running low, I’d suggest you remove the stopper which would able you to get all the way to the bottom as well.

Color + Pigmentation/ Texture +Finish:
With this eyeshadow primer, it does not leave any color on the skin which is perfect for everyone! ย When I first started out playing around with make up and Sephora wasn’t in Canada, I used to use Mac paint pot in soft orchid as an eyeshadow primer but I didn’t like how heavy it felt on the skin and would make my lids look kind of cakey in a way. ย This primer from Pony effect doesn’t do that since it melts into the skin effortlessly. ย You can also wear it my itself if you wanted to control the oil on your eyelids. ย You can even go one step further and use it as an eyebrow primer!! ย I have tried it before and it does seem to hold my brow powder for a lot longer which is awesomeeeee~

Lasting power:
I’ve been testing this primer out for couple months now and I have to say I’m really impressed with it. ย Many occasions I would go out with my eye make up snatched, come back and have my eyeshadow still intacted. ย I’d say it faded about 30% but I didn’t seem anything crease, nothing really faded that badly and nothing smudge! ย That was a 8-10+ hour day so I was even surprised myself to see everything still there. ย Pretty crazy!

Fragrance?:
No fragrance detected.

img_7032Okay let’s test out the primer. ย I’ll be testing it out with Pony effect’s conceptual eyes quad in innocent and Etude House fantastic colour eyes hello pumpqueen palette.

img_7034These two palettes are completely different. ย The one from Pony effect runs on the more sheer while Etude House is super pigmented.

img_7040Without primer, you can see they all run super sheer, especially the two lighter shades to the left. ย The darker shades are also barely there and I did swatch these with my fingers, so imagine if you were to use a brush, sheer city!

img_7037With a primer, the shades are a lot more visible and all the shimmers seem to stay in place a lot better.

img_7045These swatches from Etude House’s before and after is a little useless since it seems like both preform just the same but in person, the matte shade blended out better and stuck to the skin better as well.

img_7043Etude House really seem to make really nice eyeshadow palettes. ย Their single shadows are okay, borderline bad but their palettes are a completely different story for some reason.

Pro:
-easy to use applicator
-packaging is simple but effective, not messy
-formula is long lasting and does it’s job

Con:
-packaging can also raise hygenic concerns

Overall thoughts:
I’m very pleased to announceย I have found another holy grail from Pony effect, this time it is their fixi eye primer. Retailing for a fraction of what Urban decay ($20), Too faced ($20), Nars ($26) and Benefit ($26), Pony effect definitely knocks it out of the park with this one. ย The formula is lightweight, translucent but long lasting and does it’s job very well. ย Not much else to say other then this is a really amazing product and holds its own against the higher end brands. ย I’d highly recommend you guys go check this one out if you are in the market for a new eyeshadow primer on a budget.

So what do you guys think about this product? ย Have you tried it for yourself? ย What are your thoughts on it and what other eyeshadow primers are you using at the moment? ย Let me know in the comments down below what you think!

I am currently using a German drugstore brand (Rival de Loop Young) and it’s my absolute holy grail. I have super oily lids and without primer everything just disappears into my creases. With this eye primer the make up looks the same in the evening than it did in the morning. And the best: It retails for 2 EUR and lasts foreverrrrr ๐Ÿ˜€
