The face shop “The Solution” nourishing face mask First impression review

The face shop sheet masks was never really my favourite.  When K-beauty wasn’t as accessible three years ago compared to now, the face shop was one of the first K-beauty brands to reopen in North America.  We used to have the face shop about ten years ago but back then, K-beauty wasn’t as big as now and they unfortunately had to close their operations in North America.  I was actually sent two of these sheet masks and at first, I kind of groaned but I knew I should give it a try anyways since it may surprise me.  These were completely new to me since I have never seen them in stores.  Nonetheless, I gave these a chance and now here we are!  So let’s get started and cut the intro short.  Go time~

How to use:
After you have cleansed and toned your face, rip open the packet and pull out the sheet mask.  There will be two layers so make sure to peel off the plastic.  Then place it onto your face and adjust until it fits your face.  Leave on for 15-20 minutes.  When the time is up, take it off of the face and pat in the essence into the skin.

Product packaging:
Packaging for this sheet mask is just the usual sheet mask packaging that comes in a foil packet.  Luckily for us, there is tons of English on the front so we know what we are buying.  I have here the nourishing version which contains propolis essence and wrinkle-reducing Adenosine.  If you don’t already know, honey is pretty much god sent for those with dry skin (well unless you are allergic then I can’t help you there).  I’ve personally found products like steam creams, milk, honey/ propolis, snail and ceramide skincare products to work very effectively on my skin so I was happy to hear there was propolis in this sheet mask.  Not much to the packaging, simple and straight forward.

Since there isn’t that many interesting things about the packaging, let’s transition into the demo while going through the fine details about this product.  At the moment, my skin has been freaking out for some reason.  I was thinking it might be from hormonal imbalance since my period was just around the corner.  So my skin has been extra dry, red spots all around my cheeks and my complexion just looks dull.

For sheet masks since I usually don’t like to use the same one for a long period of time due to me getting bored easily and plus, I need to try as many products as I can for you guys.  So my criteria is quite simple, hydrating my skin and cool my skin and the rest is bonus. LOL 

Essence + Mask Texture:
The essence from this mask wasn’t super watery.  It did seem to absorb into the skin relatively quickly and it left my skin a nice hydrating glow.  If you are familiar with honey skincare, you’ll know that “glow” I’m talking about.

Here is what they have to say about the sheet mask material:
“The light as air sheet is semi transparent and only 0.21 mm thin, adhering to the skin and facial features softly and snugly.”
I do have to agree on their statement.  On the skin, it was nice and soft, not too think in texture where it would rip easily.

Mask fit:
The fit of the mask was average but they could have included the nose bridge slit so it would sit more snug.  The eye hole wasn’t big enough and the shape tilted downwards like a panda.  Sometimes the mask would get into my eye when I blink which was kind of annoying.  There was also no slit for the chin around so I had to make a fold myself.  It did however fit my whole five finger forehead which is a notable point.

After you are done with the sheet mask, take the palm of your hand and your fingers and pat in the essence for better absorption.

Excuse my unruly hair.  This is what I look like at the end of the night when I blowdry haha.  Keeping it real :P.

As you can see, the redness did seem to reduce due to the sheet mask cooling down my skin a bit.  There is also that nice glow from the moisture it gave my skin.  I loveeeee me some honey <3.

Moisture level measurements:
I think seeing these numbers, it solidifies it for me that this mask is a keeper.

pH level:
The essence from this sheet mask has a pH level of 5, the pH level closest to human skin therefore it most likely won’t irritate your skin.

Fragrance:
This sheet mask has a light citrus scent, smell-o-scale: 6/10 in terms of the strength of the scent.

Pro:
-super moisturizing
-long lasting hydration effect
-soft sheet mask material

Con:
-poor sheet mask fit

Repurchase?:
Most definitely!

Overall thoughts:
I’m quite surprised myself that this sheet mask worked out so well.  In fact, I was blown away the face shop of producing something I actually like, especially after being let down in the past with their sheet masks. Although the fit wasn’t ideal and the eye hole almost made me blind, I do like this mask and would definitely repurchase in the future.  Now I’m curious to see how the other versions work specially the hydrating and moisturizing one.  Overall I do really enjoy this sheet mask and would recommend you guys check these out the next time you are in the face shop store or window shopping online.  I give this my one thumb up (not two since the fit needs some work).
