A month ago when I was shopping around for products to review on Jolse, I really had nothing I was interested so I had an idea.ย Hey, why not get the mister to pick out some stuff randomly for me to try.ย An hour later, somehow he ended up picking products for himself!!ย This never happens guys!ย I had to take the opportunity by the horn and just go with the flow.ย On top of the products he picked for himself, there were also some super random ones he picked for me.ย Of course, he had a bit of guidance such as “pick something with color, pick a foundation/ cushion”, that type of ordeal.ย The first batch of reviews will be on the Tony Moly Tako pore line which I completely didn’t try since there is a lot of charcoal and clay in it which will dry my skin into a butthole state so no thank you.ย Let’s get to it!

I’ll answer this for him:ย normal to dry, not much sebum or oil and never really a pimple other then the occasional one once or twice every other month.
What is your usual routine now and what skin type do you have?
Mister: Water… and air.ย They call me the air bender. My best friend was my towel, which exfoliated my face along with the water.
Lord jesus, help me now.ย This man needs all the help he can get my GOSH!ย You can say I slightly fainted hearing this all over again.
There is a lot more to this Tako line then these three products but these were the only three he was really interested in.ย He didn’t really know if he was going to use the cleansing oil stick but he ended up wanting to try it, mostly because he wanted a tako family on his tabletop -_-.ย And you thought I was obsessed with cute stuff, they get men too!
They are SO cute when they come in the original packaging.ย I kind of wish it came with the pirate hats haha.

How to use:
After cleansing your face, apply and avoid the eye area.ย Let it sit for 15-20 minutes and rinse off.ย Then continue on with the rest of your skincare.
Product packaging:
My usual thoughts on Tony Moly is that they only really have cute packaging going for them but the quality of their products for skin care and cosmetics is so so.ย The tako is definitely cute but the packaging is kind of a waste since the head part is just all plastic with nothing really in it.ย Only the bottom have holds the product, which you do get 65 g of.
When you open it, there is another plastic lid covering it to prevent more air from getting into it.ย I’m actually surprised this bubbling clay mask doesn’t bubble in the jar.ย I have a moisturizer from So’natural that bubbles up by itself inside the jar which is super odd.
Texture/ Finish:
Clay masks are something that doesn’t really exist in my vanity.ย I’ve tried to like them over the years but it never really does anything for my dry skin other than drying the crap out of me.ย They are usually super thick and hard to wash off, but this one is surprisinglyย light compared to most and bubbles ever so slightly after 1 minute of application.ย You won’t get giant bubbles like the one from Elizavecca bubbling clay mask.
Mister: It smoothly glides onto my face and the bubbling effect is just satisfying knowing that that the bubbles expel the dirt and oil out of my skin.ย It also makes me look like the thing from fantastic 4.ย It is also very easy to wash off unlike other clay masks I have used in the past.
Fragrance?:
Mister:ย Smells like mud, clay.. not much scent.
Me: Can you please verify.
Mister:ย Well it doesn’t smell like much therefore it smells like nothing.
Me: Thanks… -_-. I will have to update this when I go to his place later on.
Effects/ Results:
Mister:ย I also like that it doesn’t dry out my skin but I kind of like the Bonvivant clay masks that I’ve tried in the past which has a slight minty sensation.ย Accelerate your breath! (Where did that come from haha).

Mister: Yes because the price is right and the container is cool.ย I plan to use the container for salt and pepper later.ย And if worse case scenario, I can just use it as display.

Following the tako theme, the cleansing stick of course did not shy away from the tako octo face but this one is just longer in length.ย Talk about family haha.ย I’m going to nickname this the daddy tako.ย To my surprise, you actually get a ton of product and yes, I checked when we first got it.ย We twisted it all the way up and I was like god damn… LOL.ย I also am an idiot and forgot to take a picture of the silicone brush head that is built into this which is kind of ingenious, which was another thing that caught the mister’s eyeballs.ย Its just interesting to see what a man’s thinking process is when it comes to skincare.ย Keep in mind, this is a guy that used to use body wash for face wash.ย MY GOD.ย And his idea of “cleaning his face” is when water briefly touches it. I’m still at awe how his skin has held up this long without breaking out in seven million places.ย Talk about good skin genes.
Mister: Octo Octo Octopus.ย It’s neat that they have the brush at the end which helps scrub off all the sunscreen that is stuck on my face (yes I taught him to use cleansing oil to get rid of sunscreen). It’s satisfying using the brush knowing the bristles are stroking away all the dirt and grim.ย The stick itself needs to have a safety device where it can stop the product from popping out because when I went to twist it back down, it kind of broke. It would be cool if they actually used octopus ink in the product (no bro).
Texture:
Mister: The cleansing oil formula was nice and light in texture and when I went to wash it off, but I did find my skin feeling a bit oily even rinsing.ย Luckily cleanser solved that problem.ย I also found that the stick itself needs to be rounded since the rubbing motion broke off a lot of the product on the side.ย I just found the formula to be a bit too soft.ย
Fragrance?:
Mister: Not much smell but it smelled kind of like Vaseline, which smells like nothing.
Pro:
-easy to use but not guy proof (would like the formula to be harder because men scrub harder)
-it glides smoothly onto the skin
Con:
-silicone bristles are a bit too coarse, needs to be a bit more fine
Repurchase?:
No, it’s too expensive for what its worth.

How to use:
After you have cleansed your face, take the scrub stick and go over your nose and anywhere else you have blackhead concerns but just be gentle with your face! Don’t rub too hard.

And here is the baby of the family, the product that they call a “scrub stick”.ย I’d like to reinstate that this is a dome, not a stick thank you.ย Nonetheless, I was skeptical since there are so many scrubs in the market but when I saw the mister use it on his nose, it actually did a good job getting rid of the dead skin, slightly expose the blackheads enough for us to extract it.ย His nose was nice and shiny too!ย Just the way I like it, just the way I do it ;).ย Such a proud little girl here.
Mister:ย Its small and easy to hold.ย I don’t really like the dome because it doesn’t rub onto the nose evenly.
Texture:
Mister: Texture is kind of just oily and I didn’t like the fact that it took so long for the actual scrub to start showing after the product melted away.ย And for it to actually work, you have to rub quite a bit which is kind of a waste of product.ย The initial bit I found it to be too fine to work with and when you grind down more into the scrub, the particles then get too big and kind of hurts to use.
Fragrance?:
No scent detected.

-particles quantity not dense enough to be called a scrub

Mister: If this product was $7.80 USD, which converts to about $9 CDN, I could get a whole tub of mask for almost the same price.ย I was just left impressed with this product.
