Too Cool for School’s art class by Rodin has been a cult favourite for a long time and when A’pieu came out with one that looked super similar from packaging to the way it was arranged in the pan, I just knew I had to try to get my hands on it to compare.ย I had the chance to try all three TCFS art class products including the contour, highlight and blush so if you want to see the reviews for that, click here.ย TCFS actually just came out with a new blush shade and it looks gorgeous!!ย But we aren’t here to talk about that today hehe.ย Let’s get into comparing the two shall we?ย โโโฟโใค

How to use:
With a brush, apply to places where you’d like to shade away such as the cheek bones, nose, temples and even into your hairline if you want a smaller forehead.
Packaging:
The case is a sleek round black compact which you flip up to unveil the product inside.ย There is also a nice sized mirror which is always welcomed.ย At first glance, the packaging looks identical to the Too cool for school one however the only difference there is is the hinge.ย A’pieu’s is slightly wider but honestly, its such a small difference that no one really cares LOL.ย I don’t even know why I’m mentioning it -_-.
Color/ Pigmentation:
To my disbelief, I only found out recently there is actually two shades for the contour!!ย I have here shade #1 (left) which is a lot cooler compared to the TCFS one.ย There is also a built in highlighter shade to the left, something that TCFS does not have as all of the shades is matte.ย There is also a more grey undertone to A’pieu 3D contouring K.I.T, so if you’ve found TCFS’s too warm for your pale skin or just too cool toned for your liking, A’pieu’s may be the way to go.
The highlighter (far left) is a cool undertone beige champagne shade with super fine gold shimmers.ย I don’t find the formula for this highlighter to be soft enough or pigmented enough to do much for my skin to be honest and is a super skipable part of the compact.ย I’d just have this as a back up if I forget my shimmery eyeshadow but that’s about it.
Middle shade is the lighter cool tone milk chocolate shading shade with a slight grey undertone which makes the overall look a lot more natural since it blends into your skin.ย And the far right is a cool tone brown shade which is pretty much the same as the middle one but three to four times darker. The two contour shades blended together creates a super subtle and natural contour with a hint of bronzing effect but it is super cool tone, so don’t depend on it bronzing your skin!
Hopefully you can tell the difference but TCFS is a lot warmer and I actually like the lightest shade from their compact.ย It almost makes a good light bronze cheek blush shade for when I want a full nude face to accent a bold lip or eye make up.ย If you can’t tell from the picture here, you’ll definitely tell the difference in the demo so don’t worry.
Texture/ Finish:
Texture of the powder isn’t the softest thing in the world but it works just fine with a natural bristle brush.ย Compared to the TCFS one, the TCFS one is slightly more buttery and more pigmented.ย On the face, it doesn’t look drying but it also isn’t super duper pigmented which is good for those who have a heavy hand.
Wow I just realized how bad my undereye dark circle is LOL.ย Goodness…. Maybe I forgot to apply my beloved Clio color correcting concealer.ย ย Anyways here’s my face (somewhat) done with base make up, eyes and brows done. No contour yet!ย And can someone give this women some damn lip balm!ย UGH.ย Hello… i like to yell at myself HEHE.
And after!ย Subtle difference but definitely there.
I bet some of you are going to be like… did you even apply it.ย I swear it is there ;).
And for comparison purposes, TCFS artclass by Rodin contour.
TCFS is definitely a whole lot more pigmented and more visible.ย It would look more blended with blush, I promise.
Left side A’pieu, right side TCFS.ย I wouldn’t say one is better then the other since A’pieu has the upperhand when it comes to looking super natural but TCFS has a warmer undertone and more pigmented.
And with blush.ย Please note this highlighter is from their 3D highlighter which is the next upcoming review.
Lasting power:
On top of my base make up, these last pretty much all day for me since I have dry skin and it just sucks anything and everything on for dear life.ย But if you have oily or combo skin, A’pieu contour K.I.T might not last that long for you since it is so light and not super duper pigmented so you might have to use a a primer beforehand.
Fragrance?:
No fragrance detected.
Pro:
-super natural on the face
-compact and easy to use
Con:
-could be more pigmented
-most likely not work for those with dark skintones
Repurchase?:

Overall thoughts:
Although this isn’t a bad product, I don’t like the highlighter and I just don’t find it special enough for me to want to repurchase in the future.ย Don’t get me wrong, I think this is a great cool tone contour palette but I’ll most likely use this as my go to brown transition shadow then on my face.ย I also use mostly cream/ cushion productsย theres days since my skin is so dry in the winter time!ย Overall this is an average product to me but a good alternative if you want a cool version of the TCFS contour.Product provided by A’pieu US.ย Not sponsored.
