Toun28 baobab seed oil shampoo bar & treatment bar for hair elasticity review

Toun28 baobab seed oil shampoo bar, Toun28 treatment bar for hair elasticity reviewContinuing on with testing out Toun28 products, of course, I had to test out their famous Toun28 shampoo bar.ย  Sadly I wasn’t able to find the right facial bar soap on Jolse as they don’t carry every single type of bar cleanser at the moment.ย  If you haven’t read my first review on Toun28’s pH-balancing toner, there you will find a brief brand story of Toun28 and why I’m so in love with their mission to save the world through cosmetics!ย  Their mission kind of reminds me of Deciem, with their heart and innovation.

With the same determination to want to get a better feel of the brand, I picked out two hair care products.ย  The first was their best selling Toun28 baobab seed oil shampoo bar, which there seems to be two versions and I really don’t know what is the difference.ย  On Jolse, one of them is called “Toun28 baobab seed oil hair soap (22AD)” and the other one is called “Toun28 S19P Babao seed oil“.ย  I believe the P after S19 stands for perfume if I’m not mistaken.ย  The other hair care bar I got was one of the two treatment bars called “Toun28 treatment bar for hair elasticity“.ย  Kind of an odd but straightforward name haha.ย  Anyways, let’s get into the review!

Toun28 shampoo bar treatment bar reviewFirst off, I have to say, Toun28 is one of those brands that stay true to their word when it comes to being truly eco-conscious.ย  This isn’t a brand that’s just trying to ride the greenwashing wave, but taking that and showing us as consumers what it really is to be eco-friendly.ย  All their product packaging has been either easy to break down to recycle, or it is fully paper.ย  There wasn’t any plastic wrapping here!

Toun28 bar reviewOn top of packing it with just paper, these are also very eye-catching.ย  The designs remind me of National geographics for some reason haha.

Vegan cruelty free haircare bar Toun28 reviewWhen you unravel the paper label, you also see a chart of all the other different bar products they have and the functions for each one.ย  They really didn’t come out here to play when it came time to all their varieties to cater to all your different skin and hair needs.

Toun28 shampoo bar review These alone are all the face and body bar soaps they offer.ย  This isn’t even counting the hair bar soaps too.ย  I personally have never been a fan of bar soaps, to be honest.ย  I find it kind of gross that someone would rub it over their body parts, then let it dry in a puddle of water over time.ย  I mean, can you imagine picking up your bar soap that someone used and finding pubic hair on it? NO! NASTY.

I don’t know what it is, but even as a kid I hated going to the public pool.ย  You weren’t allowed to go past the changing room and to the public pool area in flip-flops, so you had to walk out barefoot to the pool.ย  The distance from the change room to the pool was a little hallway, a hallway where there was always soap, water, and hair on the floor.ย  I would always tiptoe to the pool and unfortunately, one day, I slipped and hit my face.ย  At that point, I thought I was fine.ย  Little did I know, I actually chipped my front tooth really badly and started to bleed in the pool.ย  So… soap, hair, and water always give me the ick.

On top of that, I’ve tried a couple of bar soaps before to be more “eco-friendly” and it was easier to travel with.ย  Sadly, my experiences with them never turned out great.ย  They were either ineffective or I found it hard to melt into my hair or body.ย  At that point, I kind of just gave up on bar soap.

Toun28 shampoo bar reviewI thought this box was a cute little detail hehe. Make sure to recycle or compost it in your garden.ย  You can definitely compost this in your garden or vermicompost since there isn’t any coating on it.

Toun28 baobab seed oil shampoo bar reviewProduct packaging:
As I mentioned above, all their bar soaps come packaged in fully paper boxes and labels.ย  There was no plastic wrapping.ย  Good old simple paper box.ย  The Toun28 logo was also stamped into the bar, however, after a couple of uses, the brand is obviously gone now.

I’ve had experiences in the past where the bar will start to crack after a couple of uses.ย  This Toun28 baobab seed oil shampoo bar did start to look a bit dry, but it didn’t seem to hinder the performance of the bar itself.ย  You can see the cracking in the middle of the picture.

Toun28 baobab seed oil shampoo bar reviewTexture + effects/ results:
Luckily for me, this shampoo bar easily melted and lathered into my hair.ย  I hated the bars in which you had to rub the heck out of it into your hair or have to use a foaming net to get it to work.ย  This Toun28 baobab seed oil shampoo bar easily melted into my hair directly and lathered just like any regular liquid shampoo I’ve used!

Instantly, my hair felt softened, hydrated and healthy.ย  Of course, though, you have to wait till the second to a third day to see how your scalp reacts to it.ย  I have dry, frizzy hair (as you’ll see in the picture down below), so I need something that is hydrating but doesn’t make my scalp oily nor weigh my hair down the second day.

On day one, I was having a great hair day.ย  I’m a bit sad that I have to tie my hair up for work, so I don’t get to enjoy the flowing hair.ย  On day two, the crown of my head also didn’t feel heavy or oily!ย  Day three was close to the results as day two, however, this is around the time I usually feel greasy.ย  My hair didn’t feel weighed down, but this is usually the time when my hair starts to look like a wavy pancake screaming for a wash.ย  I can never go past day four, it is past due for a wash.

I’ve also had the same bar for the last month and a half.ย  On average, I wash my hair twice a week and the bar is still at about 60%.ย  For $11 and this can easily be traveled around with, this is so WORTH IT!ย  I now see why it is a best seller for the brand in Korea!!

Fragrance?:
Since the version I got seems to be the “perfume” version, there is a gorgeous floral scent to it.ย  To me, it smells like rich lady floral with a hint of musk.ย  It isn’t the powdery floral scent (which I hate with a passion) but a pleasant, mature floral.ย  Smell-o-scale: 6/10 in terms of how strong it is and it does linger a bit.

Pro:
-super compact
-very effective
-lathers just like a liquid shampoo
-hydrating
-nourishing without being heavy

Con:
I have nothing bad to say!!

Repurchase?:
Heck ya! I want to try the regular version to see what the difference is.

Overall thoughts:
This shampoo bar alone has changed my thoughts on bar products.ย  I’ve always been apprehensive about bar products as I found them never as effective as regular bottled products. Toun28 has officially converted me and I am so happy about it.ย  I am always down to reduce waste in this world, and this has easily made me convert for the betterment of the planet’s health.ย  This Toun28 baobab seed oil shampoo bar has easily become a staple in my routine and I’ll be definitely repurchasing it as a back up!

Treatment keeps the essential oil and moisture between the hair cuticles for a longer period of time to make your hair healthier.

Toun28 treatment bar for hair elasticity reviewProduct packaging:
The same thing with the shampoo bar, the treatment bar came in the same paper packaging with just a paper label.ย  At least this bar you can see the Toun28 logo stamped into it.

Toun28 treatment bar for hair elasticity reviewTexture + effects/ results:
The concept of leaving a treatment/ conditioner in my hair coming out of the shower is quite foreign to me.ย  I’ve tried leave-in hair treatments before, but it is usually after conditioning my hair.ย  Although I was a bit iffy about having oil in my hair coming out of the shower and thinking it will get all over my towel, I still decided to try it for review’s sake.

To my surprise though, this was quite an enjoyable experience.ย  Not only do I not have to waste water for 2-3 minutes when I’m waiting for my conditioner to do its thing, but I also save time!ย  On top my that, my fears of the treatment getting all over my towel weren’t much of a worry either.

The treatment bar also instantly melts into my hair through the warmth of my hands and the hot water.ย  I bend my head at a 90 angle and run the bar downwards on my ends.ย  I try not to put it in the crown of my hair since it does weigh it down a bit.ย  Throughout the three days after washing my hair, it doesn’t seem to weigh it down as badly as some of the leave-in hair oils I’ve tried in the past.ย  It also seems to really help the ends of my hair not get tangled, which has been a pain in the butt.ย  I haven’t had long hair since the beginning of my high school days, so this has been somewhat foreign to me.

Fragrance?:
This has a similar rich lady floral fragrance as the shampoo bar, however, I do smell a slightly fruitier note on the treatment bar.ย  Smell-o-scale: 6/10 in terms of how strong the scent is and it does linger after washing.

Pro:
-easy to use
-compact & great for traveling
-hydrating
-nourishing
-not heavy on the hair
-bar lasts a long time

Con:
-can take a little bit longer to work into the hair

Repurchase?:
Maybe, if I can ever finish the bar.

Overall thoughts:
I’m really impressed with this treatment bar as well!ย  This mighty little thing is able to detangle my hair throughout the day.ย  It doesn’t detangle completely, however it helps it a lot from getting knotted up.ย  Sometimes I will use just the shampoo bar by itself if I feel my hair getting a bit built up and greasy. Usually, I do use it twice a week and it works great!ย  Overall, I’m super happy with both products and they work amazing together with my dry and frizzy hair.

Toun28 shampoo bar reviewThe great reveal of my lion king head of hair.ย  From what my hairdresser has told me, I have a lot of hair that is somewhat thin yet dry and frizzy.ย  I don’t know what kind of catastrophic combination that is but welcome to my hair struggles.ย  My mom was so annoyed with my beehive head of hair to the point of I remember sitting in the washroom for hours as she experimented with new hair treatments she found.ย  Did it work? Not really LOLOL.ย

Up to this point, I have finally somewhat got the right hair cut down and the products I need to use.ย  Oh, and heated hair styling devices are a must for me (sadly).
Toun28 shampoo bar reviewThis right now is already not that bad after using the Toun28 baobab seed oil shampoo bar and treatment bar.ย  I used to use drugstore haircare products like Pantene, Herbal essence, and Aussie for years.ย  Not only did those not work, but they were also actually kind of expensive and dried the heck out of my hair.ย  What you are looking at right now is relatively tamed LOL.

Toun28 shampoo bar review And this is after straightening my hair with a little bit of a curl at the end.ย  My hair is shiny, looks healthy, and less frizzy.

Toun28 shampoo bar reviewI’ve been due for a hair cut/ hair maintenance for a while now but I’m not willing to let anyone cut my hair other than Anthony who has got my layering down.ย  It takes just 5 minutes for a novice to mess up my 2-year effort.ย  My hair is looking gorgeous, shiny, and healthy with these two bar combos and I am loving it.

Overall I am super impressed with what toun28 has been able to produce.ย  Also, they are both VEGAN too!ย  Like wowza… Check them out because these are so worth it.
