Make up primers has never been a well-loved product in my collection, mostly because I haven’t come across one that has done amazing things for my dry skin.ย I’ve actually been eyeing the Blithe hydro priming cream for a while, mostly because the concept of the cream is very innovative.ย It was said to be more of a makeup moisturizing primer than it is skincare, but the brand mainly creates skincare products so I had high expectations.ย There were three versions and I would have loved to try the pink one (instant glowing cream), but unfortunately, it was sold out at the time.ย Luckily, the purple one was a close second, so I went with that one (obviously).

Product packaging:
When I went to unbox this baby, I was a bit shocked at how small the jar was compared to the giant box.ย To give you guys an idea of what I’m talking about, the box measures 8 cm x 8 cm x 8 cm but the jar was 5 cm in diameter.ย If I took out the holder inside the box, I can actually fit two of these jars.ย Do we really need this big of a box guys?ย It is a little wasteful, don’t you think??
With that first impression of the box and jar ratio, it already kind of left me with a bad taste in my mouth.ย The jar itself is a gorgeous bright purple with a plastic lid inside to keep everything clean and airtight.ย There is no spatula that comes with this product, so use whatever ones you have laying around.
Texture/ Finish:
The texture is super odd and reminds me of those weird jelly collagen moisturizers I’ve tried in the past from Elizavecca.ย It is somewhat puddy and almost looks inappropriate on the back of my hand LOL.
Think of this as mozzarella or burrata cheese.ย It just bounces right back into the jar and on the back of my hand, it looks very alienesque.
Once you massage it into the skin, however, you are left with this beautiful glowy finish that is truly hydrating and will not interfere with your makeup application.ย I’ve tried to use moisturizers in the past, specifically some heavier and thick ones, but they always interfere with the base makeup.ย It either pills away, moves around, or just flat out slips right off.ย The Blithe hydro priming cream does none of that and definitely has one of the best formulas out there.
Okay, let’s try it on for size!
Here is my skin with a little bit of the Blithe make up prep essence, another product I’m going to be reviewing after this.ย The essence is a lot more lightweight and gives you very light hydration compared to this cream, so if you don’t need intense hydration from the cream, I’d suggest you check out their essence instead.
Massage, massage.ย It isn’t hard for the product to melt into your skin surprisingly.
Left (before) and right (after).ย There is definitely a huge difference with this hydro priming cream on, and it isn’t just because I added moisturizer on the right side of my face.ย It truly provides this beautiful glow and you can definitely wear this by itself if you want, but that would be kind of a waste since you only get 30 mL in this jar.
Do I feel like this Blithe hydro priming cream help with the hydration level and the staying power of my foundation?ย Absolutely!ย I’ve definitely tried illuminating primers that had a built-in fine pearl and iridescent finish to give the effect of a glowy complexion, but nothing comes close to this unique moisturizer/ primer.ย I almost feel like it helped with the lasting power of my foundation too since it kept that hydration level up and my skin didn’t start to eat all the moisture from my foundation away throughout the day.
Fragrance?:
There’s a light medicinal, herb scent but it is very faint and fades after application.ย Smell-o-scale: 4/10 in terms of how strong the scent is.ย I actually somewhat enjoy that earthy smell and would take that over the floral scent all the companies love to use.

Overall thoughts:
I’m actually really frinkin’ in love with this product and it has definitely made me into a belief for makeup primers.ย There are ones out there that are effective and does exactly what it says!ย We did have a rough start with the whole box and jar ratio, but the formula and gorgeous hydration made up for it.ย I’m definitely curious to see how the other two versions compare but for now, I’m going to enjoy this beautiful cream :).ย I’d highly recommend this for my dry skin, normal skin, and combo skin types out there if you are looking for an effective moisturizing primer!
