Bonvivant Iluminator skincare line review

Bonvivant iluuminator skincare line reviewBonvivant has been a brand I’ve been loving from Memebox and from all the products I have tried from the brand, I’ve been loving.  I first fell in love with their sheet masks that they came out with a while ago.  Since then, they have came out with 5 more botanical sheet mask, cool jelly clay masks , a face mist and unique sheet masks formulated to help us women and “the time of the month”.  Along with all that, they also have a “illuminator” line which consists of an ampoule, water gel mask and a cream masks. I wanted to see if the cream mask would be a jarred moisturizer version of the Bonvivant Illuminator age cover masks and was also curious to try the other two products, soooo… let’s get started on this 3 in 2 review!  Let’s go! σ(≧ε≦o)

Bonvivant illuminator skincare line I was contemplating on if I should do individual reviews for these products.  But I guess I could just do it this way :D.  Hope you guys aren’t overwhelmed.

How to use:
After you have cleansed your face, dispense enough to massage it into your skin.  Gently pat into the face until it is fully absorbed.

Bonvivant illuminator water gel ampule reviewProduct packaging:
This ampoule from Bonvivant comes in a nice glass bottle with a white dropper to dispense the product.  The stopper inside avoids any spillage.  There isn’t much English other then the product name but that isn’t a problem.  As long as I know it is an ampoule, I know how to use it.

Bonvivant illuminator water gel ampule reviewFor me, one full pump of the ampule is enough to go over my face and my big forehead.  I also go down to the neck since we can’t neglect that part!  It is one of the most visible signs of aging.

Texture/ Finish:
The texture of this product is very light weight but not watery.  Once it has been applied to the skin, it gets absorbed almost instantaneously and leaves the skin soft, moisturized and not greasy whatsoever.

From just looking at the numbers, we can already see that the ampoule does a great job at hydration. Even without these numbers, my skin definitely feels and looks a lot more hydrated with this ampoule.  As far as the “whitening” aspect of the product, I haven’t seen much results so I won’t be commenting on that.

pH level:
This product has a pH level of 5, meaning slightly acidic and closest to human flesh’s pH level. For those of you who want to know more about pH level in skincare, here’s a great explanation from our friends, Google.

“Our skin has a thin, protective layer on its surface, referred to as the acid mantle. This acid mantle is made up of sebum (free fatty acids) excreted from the skin’s sebaceous glands, which mixes with lactic and amino acids from sweat to create the skin’s pH, which ideally should be slightly acidic – at about 5.5.”-taken from Google source

So far, it hasn’t irritated my skin at all this category gets a thumbs up.

Fragrance?:
This ampoule has a light floral scent that goes away after application. Smell-o-scale= 4/10 for the strength of the scent.

Pro:
-affordable price
-hydrating
-doesn’t leave the skin greasy/ sticky

Con:
Nothing

Repurchase?:
Most likely, yes.

Overall thoughts:
I actually really like this ampoule and might be one of the first ampoules I have liked in a long time.  This illuminator whitening ampule does its job for hydrating the skin and also giving me a light exfoliating effect, keeping my dull skin looking hydrated for a longer period of time.  I would definitely not use this product by itself since hydration levels isn’t high enough to be used alone but is a great layering product.  Overall I really like this product and most likely would repurchase in the future.

It applies smoothly without stickiness, leaving your skin radiant and even.”

How to use:
After you have cleansed and toned your face, you can apply this moisturizer after any serums, essences, ampoules you so desire to use or you can just use this by itself.  You can either use this product as a sleep gel mask or you could apply a generous amount of it, leave it on for 20 minutes and wash it off.

Bonvivant illuminator whitening gel mask reviewProduct packaging:
I’ve noticed with all of Bonvivant’s packaging and brand concept, they go with a natural, clinical, borderline Parisian type of style and I like that.  The price tag is also really affordable which I really appreciate, especially with this economy.  This water gel mask comes in a bulky, see through jar with a white screw on lid and a white interior which houses the actual product.

Bonvivant illuminator whitening gel mask reviewOnce you screw off the lid, there is another plastic lid covering it but it isn’t in this picture.  You’ll be able to see with the cream mask picture down below.  Also this product doesn’t come with a spatula so feel free to use any one that you have gotten from other products.

Bonvivant illuminator whitening gel mask reviewTexture/ Finish:
The texture of this product is quite interesting and reminds me a lot of those pig collagen products from other companies.  It is very pudding like and kind of reminds me of the almond tofu (
杏仁豆腐) which she uses evaporated milk, almond extract and agar agar to thicken and set it to turn it into “tofu”.  Seriously, I need to just post food recipes here LOL, my other burning desire so I can showcase my mother’s awesome Cantonese cooking. ANYWAYS, off topic but this moisturizer has that same texture.  It isn’t wiggly like jelly, it’s kind of stiff looking and it always goes back to it’s shiny, flat surface the next day.

Bonvivant illuminator whitening gel mask reviewApplied onto the skin, it just melts right in, leaves the skin hydrated and not greasy whatsoever.  To my surprise, this water gel mask actually is hydrating enough for me at the moment during fall time if I pair it up with the illuminator whitening ampoule.  I haven’t used this as a mask since I think it is a little bit of a waste so I’ve been using this product more as a sleeping mask.  This also works great as a morning moisturizer if you plan to use make up on top since it is thin, light weight and won’t create problems for your base make up.

Moisture level measurements:
screen-shot-2016-11-03-at-9-14-58-pm
pH level:
This product has a pH level of 5= doesn’t irritate the skin.

Fragrance?:
This gel mask has a super light floral fragrance, so light it is almost not there.  The scent does disappear after application, smell-o-scale: 2/10 in terms of the strength of the scent.

Pro:
-relatively hydrating
-doesn’t leave the skin greasy
-absorbs into the skin quickly

Con:
unnecessary bulky packaging

Repurchase?:
Maybe but most likely not.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Overall thoughts:
I do really like this product but I don’t feel like it will be hydrating enough when winter hits here.  This water gel mask would be great during spring and summer or for those who have oily skin types, this is a great choice.  Overall I recommend this product for those who are looking for a light weight moisturizer that hydrates well and doesn’t leave any type of residue after it has absorbed into the skin.

After you have cleansed your face, use a dime sized amount and massage this into the skin into it is well blended.

Bonvivant Illuminator Age Cover Cream MaskProduct packaging:
The jar is exactly the same as the water gel mask except for the fact that it is frosted.  It has the same bulky packaging, white screw on lid and also a plastic lid to keep everything airtight and sealed.

img_6859

img_6860Texture/ Finish:
This cream mask is completely different from the water gel mask.  This is a thicker, pearlescent, instant whitening (please.. I’m not talking about bleaching the skin) type of product.  I have been testing this product out as a moisturizer and I like it but I don’t find it hydrating enough for my liking, especially with the cold winds and heaters blasting all day long where I live.  This would be more of a day cream for me but I do like a really that it brightens my complexion and makes it super glowy!!  The texture is a little harder to work with and you have to blend it for a while and make sure it is blended well or else the pearlescent finish will leave your skin look slightly clumpy.

After it is blended into the skin, it leaves this gorgeous, healthy looking complexion that is slightly brightened and makes my skin look very milky.  I’m not too sure if this will work with those with very dark complexions but on my fair yellow undertone skin, there is an obvious difference when I have this cream on and when I don’t.  After it is blended into the skin, it doesn’t leave any greasy finish to it and is just soft.  Instead of using this just as a moisturizer, I actually recommend you guys use it as a make up base!  It hydrates, highlights and brightens the complexion all in one and because the texture isn’t overly moisturizing, it’s perfect as a make up base!Bonvivant Illuminator Age Cover Cream Mask

img_6891Okay I’ll show you what the illuminator age cover cream looks like on the skin so you guys can see what I mean by the “glowy” effect.  Excuse my rachet hair, I can’t be bothered at the moment since I’m about to go to bed and I’m super tired hehe.

bonvivant-cream-collageOn the left side, I’ll just leave it normal and on the right side I will put the cream on so you guys can compare.  These do take a bit longer to blend into the skin then other moisturizers but it does absorb into theh skin no problem.

bonvivant-creamLeft side, normal dry and dull looking skin.  On the right side, you can see my skin is definitely a lot more brightened and slightly milky looking as well.

pH level:
This cream also has pH level of 5.  I don’t have to explain why this is good again right? LOL

Fragrance?:
Just like the other two product, this has the same floral scent to it.  Again, this is not strong at all and the fragrance disappears after application.

Pro:
-unique product
-instant “whitening” effect
-leaves a gorgeous glow
-moisturizing enough for my dry skin

Con:
I honestly don’t have much to complain about with this product.  I just wish it was a tad bit more moisturizing but that isn’t something that is a deal breaker for me since I can simply layer it with some other products underneath to make it work.

Repurchase?:
Most likely!

Stars given out of 5:
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Overall thoughts:
So my predictions is correct, this is the jarred version of their sheet mask that I love so much.  It gives the same effect but I do have to say the sheet mask is a bit more moisturizing.  I really love the finish it gives my skin, how it hydrates well but I will be continuing to use this as a glowy make up base/moisturizer all in one product.  Overall I give this product a thumbs up and I’d recommend.
