Farmacy beauty skincare review

Farmacy skincare reviewFarmacy skincare have been all over Instagram and I just couldn’t kill the curiosity without trying it out for myself.  I’ve been wanting to dive back into the Western beauty world slowly since it seems to have evolved exponentially, especially with indie brands and online beauty brands coming to the rise.  Farmacy isn’t actually an indie brand and can actually be find in Sephora stores in Canada and the US as well as Amazon!  With all the hype behind this brand, let’s break down the four products that they sent me and see if they are right for you!  Let’s go~

Who are Farmacy?
Farmacy works with local Farmers in Pennsylvannia to cultivate Echinacea GreenEnvy, Farmacy’s patent and exclusive potent plant that contains 3 times more natural antioxidants in its roots then regular Echinacea.  They also infuse some of their skincare products with organic honey that the bees help pollinate their Echinacea plants.  Farmacy prices themselves on being sustainable by using FSC certified paper and inks based on naturally renewable raw materials as well as recyclable jars and containers.  They are also paraben free, formaldehyde donor free, synthetic fragrance free, phthalate free, mineral oil free and cruelty free! This brand really makes me feel good inside, especially the tree hugger in me happy.  Nowadays, I give plastic straws dirty looks HAHA.  I need to get myself one of those bendable metal straws but now the real question is, now am I going to drink my bubbleteas?  Hmm…

How to use:

Farmacy clean bee cleanserProduct packaging:
Packaging for this cleanser is sleek, clean and to the point.  I love the font choice they used for all of their product packaging but that is besides the point LOL. The bottle is a super hard plastic with a nice pump which you can control.  If you wanted to take this on a travel, it wouldn’t be a problem since there is also a lock function in the nozzle.

Texture:
Texture of this cleanser comes in a easy liquid formate which doesn’t lather up too much.  It does create slight bubbles, but nothing like a super rich lather.  On my dry skin, it doesn’t leave it feeling dry whatsoever which is a definite plus.  It is also very gentle on the skin, which is something that they mentioned in their description that even sensitive skin people can use this.

Fragrance?:
To my surprise, this cleanser actually has quite a strong “green” fragrance.  There isn’t any fragrance added into the cleanser, so I’m guessing it has to do with the blend of botanical blend of tumeric,  licorice root, chamomille, calendula and maybe even the many many oils I see in the list of ingredients near the middle to bottom of the list.  It does need some getting used to, but I actually quite enjoy green scents.  Smell-o-scale: 7/10 in terms of how strong the scent is.

pH level:
This cleanser has a pH level of 5 which is the closest to human skin’s pH.  This means that it will most likely not irritate the skin.

Pro:
-super gentle on the skin
-doesn’t strip the natural oils on the skin
-does its job well

Con:
-strong natural scent might not be for everyone

Repurchase?:
Yes

Overall thoughts:
Cosrx’s low pH cleanser has been a favourite of mine for a long time and has been the cleanser I’ve been using for the past 4 years now.  If I needed to recommend something that is easily accessible for those of you who don’t want to buy online or want to have the flexibility to return a product in a physical store, Farmacy’s cleanser would definitely be me next recommendation.  Its super gentle, doesn’t dry my skin out and does its job well. Two thumbs up.

Farmacy sunscreen green screenProduct packaging:
When I first got the parcel and started to unbox everything, I was gagging at how amazing the cardboard box was LOL The amount of thought that went into just the box was just breath taking.  They used the box and made it into an origami while printing all the information you’d need to know about the product inside as well.  UGH!  Green + beauty, best of both worlds.

Farmacy green screenAnyways, the sunscreen itself comes in this squeeze bottle with a cute wooden screw on lid.  Very straight forward packaging, not much to it.

Farmacy sunscreenTexture:
Now the texture of the sunscreen feels lightweight at first but for me, it doesn’t seem to every really settle into the skin.  Like the name says, it feels like there is a screen on top of my skin.  I’m used to a lot of different formulations when it comes to sunscreen, especially being exposed with the ones K-beauty has to offer.  This sunscreen isn’t greasy per se, but it just doesn’t seem to settle in and dry down with even my dry skin.  Quite odd indeed.

Farmacy sunscreenNow this sunscreen claims to have no flash back and it is definitely true!  You can see right here that there is almost no flash back.

No white cast here!  Oh I remember the days when I was a child (wow I sound hella old) when sunscreens smelled like liquid playdoh and went on the skin super thick and greasy.  Thank god we have evolved from that.

Overall thoughts:
I actually don’t mind this sunscreen not fully settling into my skin, but there are those days where I want something a bit dry.  But when my skin does feel like it is dry, I do crave for this.  Overall I think this is a good choice for a sunscreen but those who have oily skin might not like it.

Farmacy honey dropProduct packaging:
I have to say that Farmacy’s glass jars is definitely what caught my eye on Instagram.  It’s so superficial of me to say but its true.  I’m like a crow when I see shiny new things hehe.  I don’t think I’ll be able to throw away this jar when I’m done with it.  I love the same wooden screw on lid detailing that they have and best part?

Farmacy honey moisturizerTHE LID IS MAGNETIC AND THERE IS A METAL SPATULA.  WHATTTTT!! I die….  Not even K-beauty has anything cool like this.  My god!

farmacy honey potion

Texture/ Finish:
Texture of this moisturizer is a super lightweight gel.  Sometimes gel products work for me but most of the time it doesn’t.  Unfortunately this time, the honey drop moisturizer didn’t work for my super dry skin type.  I have tried layering it with other products, using it on its own and even layering it with the green screen.  When I do use it with the green screen, moisture levels are not shabby but that combo would be better for me during the summer time.  I think those with normal, combo and oily skin type would enjoy this moisturizer more then my sad dry skin. It absorbs into the skin very quickly, leaving no greasy feeling at all, which would actually be a good lightweight hydrator before make up!

Pro:
-super lightweight moisturizer
-non-greasy

Con:

Overall thoughts:
I think this product is quite nice but definitely not for those who have dry skin.  It isn’t hydrating enough and left my skin tight and dry throughout the day.  This is definitely best for the other skin type categories but it isn’t a bad product at all!  Hopefully they come out with a thicker cream for dry skin people like me :).

farmacy honey butter lip balm review

Product packaging:
This lip balm comes in a easy to use twist up stick, the best type of packaging in my opinion since it is easy and I  don’t have to stick my dirty fingers in any pots.  I’m actually quite surprised to see that this product is made in Korea and not US.  Nothing crazy about this packaging, just your standard lip balm in a stick format.

Texture/ Finish:
I’m quite pleased to find out that this lip balm isn’t hard like the Burts Bee’s lip balms.  When I read “bees wax” lip balms, I automatically think that this is going to feel weird and hard on the lips but the honey butter glides onto the lips easily and coats it effortlessly.  It hydrates my lips for hours even after it is fully absorbed.  If you do want to use this as a base before your lippies, I’d recommend you to use it sparingly since a little goes a lot way and you don’t want your lipstick to be slipping and sliding everywhere.

So what do I think of Farmacy after trying four of their products for more then a month now?  I’m actually very impressed with the brand.  Their attention to detail with not just the packaging but the box that it comes in as well is top notch.  I love that the brand pays tribute to saving the environment and being cruelty free as well as using ingredients that is safe for the skin.  I would love to try more from this brand and definitely give you guys the green light if you’ve been itching to try this brand.  Products gifted by Farmacy.  Not a sponsored post.
