First impression: SNP Beijing Opera Brightening Mask

SNP Beigin opera brightening mask reviewSheet masks have been a skincare item I’m trying to get myself to use more since it is a great way to inject moisture and other skincare benefits quickly.  However for someone like me that doesn’t like to lay around for 15-20 minutes doing nothing, it is a hassle for me since I’m lazy, I’d rather use a sleeping pack.  Mask maven this month sent me their July bag and this mask was included in it which was one sheet mask I have been eyeing on the internet every time I’m window shopping for more Korean cosmetics.  Today I’ll be showing you what this sheet mask looks like, my first impressions on it and the results measured with a facial moisture device. Let’s go~ ೕ(˃̵ᴗ˂̵ ๑)

Let’s try this mask!  And yes I just came out of the shower and air drying my hair, so this is a real first impression.  My skin felt so tight, screaming for some moisture, but I had to set up my lighting and camera haha.

IMG_7843This is my bare skin^
Areas of concern:
-dry skin
-pretty bad fine lines and wrinkles in under eye area
-slight redness around nose
-never-ending blackheads on nose

IMG_7848We will be measuring the moisture levels on my skin with this little device.  I got mine on ebay for $11 (free shipping included), just search up “facial moisture device” and you should be able to find it.  This one is not the best as it lags sometimes and sometimes it doesn’t measure so I end up doing it twice.

IMG_7853I lost the little manual from this device but the general rule for the percentage is:
-30%= skin is crying out for moisture
+30%= average moisture content
+50%= above average; skin is satisfied
+70%= you’re practically swimming in moisture, what are you a fish? Dang…

IMG_7855Measurement of my cheeks: 16.1% yes I am really dry

IMG_7858Forehead: 15.6%

IMG_7859Out comes the sheet mask.  I ripped open the packaging and the essence squirted all over my face.  Why is there so much liquid LOL.  There was quite a strong scent to this sheet mask as well, 6/10 for fragrance level, and it smelled heavily of herbal and slight floral.

IMG_7860Apparently the sheet mask’s material is the same material they use to make diapers with (natural pulp) which is suppose to be good for sensitive baby’s skin, and this type of material helps keep essence within the sheet for a longer period of time.  I could definitely tell this sheet mask’s material was of quality right when I took it out of the foil packaging, it felt a lot thicker then the sheet mask material I’m used to, and it is slightly spongey.  As I said, when I ripped open the packaging, the essence was overflowing out and splashed everywhere.  However the mask kept the essence within the sheet and it did not drip off my face during the 15 minutes I was using it.IMG_7867The print is also suppose to be made with safe color element that “does not stimulate the skin”.

IMG_7869Surprisingly, the material really is super durable, just like diapers.  I was pulling and pulling the sheet mask after I was finished with it, and it did not rip!! I was pulling it with all my finger might too!!  Dang~ ( ꒪Д꒪)SNP sheet maskThe fit of the sheet mask on my face was not that great.  Around my jawline and at the temples of my forehead, it would crease a lot however in the center of my face, it was nice and snug.  Usually other sheet masks, I would have problems with the sheet mask getting nice and snug around the nose and under the eye area, but this one was nice and tight which is rare, so I’ll forgive it not fitting that great everywhere else ;).

IMG_7863Although the description for this product does not state any menthol, there was a slight minty tingle to the skin and also there was a cooling effect.IMG_7870After 15-20 minutes, I peeled off the sheet mask and my skin felt noticeably moisturized. Pat the essence into the skin and let it evaporate.  I noticed this mask’s essence wouldn’t fully absorb into the skin and even after it was “absorbed”, there was still residue left and my skin still felt tacky. So I’d recommend using a toner after the sheet mask or a cleansing water such as Bioderma.  Let’s measure my skin!

IMG_7880Cheeks: 58.7%

IMG_7884Forehead: 55.3%

As you can see, the measurements from before and after was drastically higher, even I was surprised with the results.  And no, I did not leave the essence on my skin, I made sure it was fully absorbed before I did the measurements.  I am very pleased with this sheet mask and would repurchase based on the very positive experience.  This SNP sheet mask was cooling, had a slightly minty sensation, a good fit, did what it claimed and the material of the sheet mask was high quality.  The print is also an added bonus since it is fun to scare your family and friends with, plus you could even lure your kids to use these to teach them about skincare.  I’d highly recommend these sheet masks and urge you guys to try these as well.

What do you guys think about this sheet mask?  Are you just as surprised as me with the high moisture content this sheet mask gives?  Will you buy this sheet mask?  Tell me in the comments down below!
